I am sorry to hear that this was your experience with truck driving. Although we actually teach the dispatch job, that actually helps you be at home with your family.

You are correct. I’ve been in trucking 36 years. It used to be a fun , profitable profession. With the addition of electronic logs, computer tracking and micromanaging by companies that are staffed by clueless employees who have no clue about real world trucking, and the variables on the road it has ruined the culture of the industry. With the high rates of a few years ago, the industry has been flooded with too many trucks and Third World immigrants who will work for anything. Also with fleets hungry to put any asses in seats, the creation of automatic trucks, GPS in any language and no touch freight they can hire any clueless fool who would normally be found working the fryer at McDonald’s but now they’re in the seat of a truck. Happy to make pay that sucked 20 years ago driving down wages and rates. truckstops look like Third World refugee camps, no etiquette, poor driving skills and no desire to assimilate to American culture. The one bright spot is, you usually won’t find them in the higher, paying jobs like hazmat ,oversize loads or more complicated flatbed work. They usually just infest the dry van, reefer, container segments of trucking, and then try to become brokers or dispatchers, and further depress rates and further accelerate the demise of a once great industry.
