Great breakdown. They definitely average better mpg than 7.6, that idle time really made for a bad representation. I truly do love how comfortable my Pete is, but that part comparison was pretty shocking.
Hey Ronen. Luv your videos. Although I am in Australia. I find most of the information is very applicable. I'm a owner operator. With a 2005 Western star. Towing a road train carting grain cheers Tom
I would say that in today's market they are average trucks. I am driving a Kenworth t880. It's all cheap plastic inside and nothing to brag about anywhere else.
Kenworth W900L trucks are the most comfortable trucks and has always been BUT they are the most expensive trucks on the market and it always been and it always will be.
Canada produced many of the best Classic Rock bands. and produces (present tense) many of the best trucking related YT channels. Excellent video. Thank you.
I bought my 579 in December last year so far I love it. I get around 8.5 mpg my only complaint is I should have gotten a different axle ratio but I’ve not had any issues with the truck at all
That is why I drove a mechanical. The fuel economy was a bit worse, about 6.2, but I could patch it with wire and fix it myself, or at least drive to MY mechanic whose rate was less than half that.
Never will be another N-14 or ISX 15 the X15 is horrible unless u tune and delete it and adjust some parameters I still dive a ISX 15 not ready for a inframe but I rather that than buy a new truck unless that Truck has A Cat in it and Not the Acert C-15😂🫡
Hey. I do have the 2024 Kw t680 . Paccar mx13 510 ho and I do step Deck work with diesel APU, and im doing over 9.5 mpg. Also, I have the 2020 Peterbilt 579. Also, with paccar, 510 HP. Whit rig master diesel apuI love pets and Kw. I owned the Volvo 760, and I did love it also . Owned the international.. I don't. Care about people talking shit about paccar. They are good. I don't idle my trucks now.. I will keep buying Peterbilt and kw. With paccar many times, I get over 10 mpg even shown on my UA-cam channel. Peterbilt and kw all the wayA I DONT idle, AND TAKE CARE of THE TRUCK THEY WILL TAKE CARE of YOU
PACCAR engines are not known for reliability. Were it me, I'd be putting a Cummins X15 and a diesel-powered APU. I don't like the battery pack APU because the prime mover will start up in the middle of the sleep period and then the damn thing will start revving at about 1200-1300 RPM - immediately after starting!! No time to allow the oil pump to get the oil up into the top of the engine - which is of course not good for reliability.
_It really depends on the engine, but you can get a lot of power and fuel efficiency. If you just delete that EPA system and get rid of the DPF filter. The Cummins is the best engine for power efficiency, yes, it is well known amongst American truckers that Peterbilt are expensive to repair_
The bumper price made a dent by 5000$ as compared to others and that’s when the parts comparison went bad. The other parts were more or less in line with the rest.
Yes that is a lot for a bumper! These newer trucks the bumpers are crap and to low to the ground. At the same time If a driver is a good driver they should not be damaging bumpers. I am 62 years old and have never damaged a front truck bumper.
The amount of money you profit Will be washed by the depreciation at the resale unless you have a good paying rates/market. All in all its a lose lose situation for all trucking companies.
I drive a 96 9200 with a 12.7L set at 525 1750 and I get 6.8-7.5 loaded depending on how much I’m pulling in my tank and empty I’m getting 9.8. She ain’t pretty by no means but she goes above and beyond getting it done.
Our company recently switched to 579 w/Cummins motors. Nothing major has broke yet but build quality is junk. Leaking trucks, loud front suspension noises, alignment problems, electrical problems, stuff just falling off the trucks. Just built like crap. I’d rather have my International LT back. Most of the drivers would
Yes, that what i noticed. Switching back to Volvo. I bought 3 brand new petes, 1 they couldn't repair had to return it. Two other ones always have oil leaks, pdf problems, etc. Only 400k on the engines. My volvos started having same problems at 800k.
@@Lesnik6464 I’ve put 150k on my truck and I’m on my 4th windshield already from leaking and not sealing correctly. Crazy wind noises and water leaking in around it and the roof. It’s a bunch of the trucks too The front ends on these make this crazy cracking and popping sound but they don’t know why they do it. Just junk
✅ I’ll jump in n drive for you if u get 579….20 years of experience n clean records….579 was the most comfy truck I ever drove ( behind the wheel or behind the seat in back)
I would not buy a Pete simply because they have a much reduced support network in my experience and definitely do not get one with a Paccar motor. Freightliner might not ride as well but you can get them parts and fixed anywhere.
@@xenogames5610 I'm in NYC, there is one small repair shop on Staten Island (very nice guys, but it is not a good location for me) and one parts house in Brooklyn that is very slow to get parts. Most Freightliner parts I can get either the same day or the next day from multiple dealers.
@kmg501 Well, that's just unlucky. My local pete pretty much has everything in stock, or at least available the next day. Also, any pete I've been to across the country has been the same way for me
Let's be real, the only reason people drive the 579 is so they can say they drive a peterbilt. Just the same with the t680 and Kenworth. The reality is the 579 and T680 are the worst Tupperware torpedoes available today in the North American market.
Really, idk how drivers team in a Cascadia, my 1st Cascadia, a 2023 there is one closet space 2 small cubbys above fridge and closet.....I'm out 4 weeks home one ....miss my western star.
Peterbuild has very expensive spare parts and not all shops have them, not all shops take them for repair. An hour of work costs more and not all mechanics know how to service. An old truck with a Packard costs much less than with a Cummins.
Great breakdown. They definitely average better mpg than 7.6, that idle time really made for a bad representation. I truly do love how comfortable my Pete is, but that part comparison was pretty shocking.

Petes and KW's are great trucks and SO comfortable!!!! Lord help you if they break down! One of your previous videos demonstrated that fact!!
I would say that in today's market they are average trucks. I am driving a Kenworth t880. It's all cheap plastic inside and nothing to brag about anywhere else.
I want Peterbilt
All trucks are expensive now but Peterbilt for a little extra gives you a lot more!…

That's true
I am satisfied with Detroit since 2018. Truck without emission issues for first 600000 miles, that is best truck. No down time, no rescuing loads.

When do we get a Western Star / Freightliner comparison? Should be close.
We'll do our best and look into them!

Gotta be titanium on that!
For alternators and starters you are really comparing Detroit vs. Cummins.
The best motors on the market right now in terms of fuel efficiency and parts cost/availability
My CX 15 does 8.5 average driving. 75mph international LT 500hp
Wait for Scania to enter the North American market, they’ll kick ass.
Haha exactly!
740 hp
They're kinda here now as international with S13 engines
They are nothing special, it would just be another truck in the market
No they won't, bunks are too small for North America and they aren't aerodynamic enough, have to max out at 90 kmh (55mph) to make good fuel mileage
The amount of money you profit Will be washed by the depreciation at the resale unless you have a good paying rates/market. All in all its a lose lose situation for all trucking companies.
Insurance can you make comparison. The one's who pay. Warranties too. Canada. Thanks Ronam
I am from Europe and I don’t like Volvos. I want one Peterbilt for me😅
Really?

It's not the trucks that are falling apart, IT'S the highway's.
What about on western star units??? Am very curious
Basically the same as freightliners

Can you do one on the Mack Anthem.
Really nice flip flop trucks
Love the information you give out I learn something new every time I watch your videos keep it Ronan
What about international and western star
Internationals are trash, and Star Cars these days are just Freightliners with some makeup and a bigger price tag.
I would not buy a Pete simply because they have a much reduced support network in my experience and definitely do not get one with a Paccar motor. Freightliner might not ride as well but you can get them parts and fixed anywhere.
Petr has a huge and extensive support network across America. Not sure if this is a Canada issue but it's not an issue in America

*16.8% ends up being 1 in 6 (not 1in5) 😀

15 kw cummins t680. I never understood why pete repairs cost less. Kw and pete both use paccar parts.
Will always have some sort of check engine light on. Todays Peterbilt is garbage.
