My friend Nicole Atkins is one of the most brilliant singer / songwriters I know, and it was a thrill when she stopped by for an impromptu cover of one of her favorite tunes: "Different Drums," by The Stone Poneys with Linda Ronstadt.

This song..
My stepmother, as she went into the water to drown dead 1976, had the longplay on her recordplayer still playing. The version sung by Linda Ronstead. Almost long ago.
Thank you for this!
A Stone Poneys classic from Nashville!
Written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees fame.
wow.
Great cover! Easy, clear and crisp…I like it! 👏👏 Good stuff, and the grin at the end…well, just icing on the cake! 😉😄 👍💖🎶
Love it. Very clear and crisp.
Love Nicole Atkins, her PMJ cover of Heroes is one of my favorites
Nice PMJ twist on a 60s standard. I really enjoyed it. Nice voice. I loved it when she shook her head and said “she saw no point” in enduring the inevitable heartbreak. Thanks very much for this.
Beautiful 🥰
Absolutely could spend an evening listening to Nicole.
Pretty cute! And good to see that Scott smile at the end 🤩
Would love to see MORE simple colabs like this between yourself and PMJ alum & new faces. You should even extend it to ... sets or whole nights of perfomances.
Too right she’s a good singer. Thanks.
Linda Ronstadt look out!!!!
And KUDOS to the piano man.
Beau sourire à la fin 🥰
Nicole is awesome…
Красиво и зажигательно, СПАСИБО ЗА ОЧЕРЕДНОЙ ШЕДЕВР.....
I just found the Heroes PMJ and was craving for more of mrs. Natkins. Funny coincidence.
I enjoy this more than Linda Ronstadt's version. Fantastic; love it😊
Damn, im so in love with her ❤
This version is GREAT!!!
That Nicole, always has my heart. I just gave it away to a gal named Piper but Nicole is always a star in my eyes!
I saw her live YEARS ago when she opened for the Raveonettes and have been a fan ever since. "Maybe Tonight" is one of of top 5 songs and so is this one, so this is a match made in heaven for me!!!
I have so much love for this 🔥
i can't stop watching this. It is an amazing mixture of skill and fun. Thank you for sharing your talents. :)
Very nicely presented and posted! Thank you.
Wonderful!
Beautiful !
I love your power and assertiveness. Yes. Very Yes
How lovely is this!
Written by Mike Nesmith of Monkees fame...
RIP Mike Nesmith.
Love it!! I'm a huge Linda Ronstadt fan, and this is really a wonderful version. Beautiful!!
That was great!
Don't know the song but what passion! ❤️🎶
Ah it's from the pen of the mighty Nez! 😊
Shirley, you jest!
@@machtschnell7452 im totally serious, and please, dont call me surely 😁🤭
This is so good! ❤
That was nice!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow what a voice this song was popular when I was a teenager first time that heard perform by someone else that is better than the original
Thank you both, I was hoping to hear some of Li8nda on SBPMJB
Ya know what? I really liked that!
I love those types of songs that you can parlay into nice local theater pieces.
This actually gave me goose-bumps so keep up the good work!
Hey Scotty, nice version of "Different Drummer". Always been a Ronstadt fan!
😍
👍😍
I saw Nicole open for Old 97's a few years back, and told her after the show, that she reminded me of Linda Ronstadt---seeing/hearing this is fabulous 😀❤😀
!!!!!
She is pretty
Well done, one of my favorites of the time. Still, I think Nicole deserved to be just a bit more "out front". Great performance, fair to middlin mixing.
!
Ah, sweet Linda could you not sing once more for us?
Written by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees.
Just came back to you Scott after a long hiatus, this one doesn't work. Love you guys otherwise lol.
I think Michael Nesmith would've loved this!
Браво! Гармония! Кайфанул, очень вкусно!
Sorry, Its a Michael Nesmith cover, not Ronstadt.
Different. I like your interpretation though I think the original lyrics would've been the better choice following "I've got my doubts," but why complain? It's an awesome performance, from the piano to the vocals. Amazing!
She's a great singer, but it sure seems to me that this is a song that doesn't buck it's original tune easily. It just sounds wrong when you don't do it exactly like the original to me.
I once a recording of this song on the radio. The singer was almost casual towards the lyrics. He totally lacked Linda Ronstadt`s passion. I thought he was butchering it. Then the announcer said that was Michael Nesmith singing his own Different Drum.
Please credit songwriters and original artists. In this case it was Michael Nesmith. The song actually makes a lot more sense sung by a male who has "commitment issues."
Terrible mix. The piano is over powering the singer.
