This wonderful song which helped launch Linda Ronstadt was written by the hugely talented Mike Nesmith (1942-2021) He produced a vast amount of work apart from the 'Monkeys' It was largely due to him that the "Prefab Four" became a real band.

@@eddenoy321 If you ever just listen to Mike Nesmith's songs apart from the Monkees, you will discover that he was a major musical talent. His song JoAnne is quite incredible, but I purchased a double CD of his back in the 1990s and was just blown away by how different his talent was from the obvious Monkees. He was a country-western and popular music genius. There are no words that can describe how good he was.
A supberb version. Only someone in the same league as Linda Ronstadt could do justice to this finely crafted song. Sarah you are a joy to listen to and you are one of the finest singers ever.

Had to listen to this cover twice. Something I never do but there are some songs that cry out for a repeat. Sarah is the greatest singer of this generation.
What constantly impresses me is how 'pure' your sweet voice is - WITHOUT all the technical help of a studio mixing board (reverb/vocoder/limiter/compressor/yada yada yada)! So many of today's 'stars' sound pretty awful without the 'studio magic'. There are only a sprinkling of artists who sound good 'au natural'. This song is one of your very best, because your voice matches up extremely well to the tune, and you are able to add your special 'punch' to each line. I came back and listened again, every bit as good as the first time I heard you sing it! Thanks again, Sarah!
Thanks for getting that out. People apprear to have forgotten what pure artistry a genuine vocalist talent and gift is. However all the trickery is kind of required when a majority are listening via Bluetooth or cellphone, laptops, earbuds etc. amirite?

Wow spot on. Song written by the now late Michael Nesmith. I guess I ran across this video because I am subscribed to The Music Enhancement Channel where a fella is taking oldies tunes and enhancing the recordings, and actually they sound pretty good. One of my favorites is "Incense And Peppermints". BUT there is no enhancing Ms. Collins' talents and to do so would be sacrilege. :)
Last night, I listened to AT LEAST 20 covers of this song. WHERE WERE YOU??? AWESOME! YEP! Upped volumn, YELLING TO MY NEIGHBORS at HOW GOOD YOU ARE AND GORGEOUS TOO.. Nice icing to one of my favorite Linda Ronstadt songs. Sarah, I would bet if you were to asked Linda Ronstadt to be your stand-in voice for her, this and other LR songs, she would say "Hell, yes! "

i love this song and of course linda is a legend,...but i honestly have to say our northern girls rendition is ...just....beautiful and so full of emotion and feeling....as usual she pays a wonderful comment to artist and song with her lovely voice and awsome talent.
Ohhh Sarah, How this brings me back to 1967-1968. As a mid to late teen, I was in "love" with Linda Ronstadt when she came out with this song. Just got back after taking my grandchildren to Montana to go Sapphire mining and now I get sent back to my really fun years of life... Thank you for this ticket back to the 60s... S

Just came across this song again. I bought a tape of this back in '82 in Riyadh Saudi Arabia and really liked Linda's version and I find your's just as good. I sing this song myself just changing the lyrics slightly but I can't say that I am any good but hey it's fun. Regards, Jim in NI
