      I love how they made the move basically canon, or at least canonized similar events. Plus I loved how the guys inside the ships looked like Skeletors tech guys in the live action movie.

    What an amazing birthday present this was for me. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this show happen, for breathing new life into MOTU and for this amazing experience. Thank you Colt for all of your hard work on the channel and for having these in depth conversations with the folks behind the magic. Thank you Ted for being so accommodating to the fanbase by sitting down for these conversations, your passion and care shows and you were a great Gwildor! I'll be doing my part to ensure we get a 3rd season and if I could make a tiny, tiny request: Saurod. Even if he's just in the background of one scene for a blink of an eye...A man can dream =)

    I love Ted's share on how taking open hands sometimes leads to yucky outcomes, but I'm also glad this channel exists to show that sometimes trusting and letting people into your life can be a beautiful thing too. Good show, and yeah that Revolution show too.

    I had a lot of issues with 'Revelation' but adored 'Revolution'. I loved how He-man's voice went deeper, love that he chose being He-man over being the king (something that had real problems with after Rob Davids 'Eternity War'), Teela felt more like Teela and they brought the sexiness back to the franchise (nice to see some curves and hips again), It felt more classical in it's story beats and character motivations. I absolutely loved it! Could not have asked for more. I just watched this with my kids and literally clapped when the end titles came up. Teddy is a legend!

    This was a fantastic addition to the MOTU mythos. I felt like a kid again. Had a huge smile on my face when He-man and Teela shared their first on screen kiss. The power/glow ups for Teela were amazing. Goosebumps when she resurrected Preternia. I need that final version of her in toy form. Thank you Colt for all of your hard work on your channel. I really enjoy listening to you and your guests.

    Super interview. Rob David, Ted Biaselli & Kevin Smith did SUPER work. I LOVED that MOTU: Revolution is acknowledging He-Man & She-ra are TWINS ( no matter what name they have to use or not use for legal reasons ). Of all the MOTUPOP related Netflix reboots, this is the first one I've clicked the like option on, and THAT is the MAIN reason why. The S/Keldor flashback of Hordak ( a flawless dark fairytale scene, with Hordak looking every bit the part of some ancient, demonic warlock, abducting a baby sister princess as in some ancient, dark fable ) abducting Adora from her & Adam's nursery gave me chills!! It was a STUNNINGLY updated version of the same scene from the original 1985 He-Man & She-ra: The Secret of The Sword movie ( a movie which still doesn't get the credit it deserves as the actual FIRST MOTU movie: [ Inhumanoids, G.I. Joe & Thundercats never had a theatrical movie, due to the Transformers & Rainbow Brite movies both underperforming, which is why those shows got 5 part miniseries, to make up for no theater movie]) Most thrilling moment of the show ( though I also sure enjoyed Teela's bootyful, sexy, dazzling joint transformation with Adam, and her epic new central tower lion outfit! )!!
    Didn't like the pagany angle and the destructibility of Preternia. Loved Granamyr, Shatner & John de Lancie's voice work, hated losing Granamyr etc.
    Regarding the rights and She-ra, it's REALLY complicated. Mattel owns the copyright & trademark for the She-ra character and for most of the POP characters who had toys in the original 1980s MOTUPOP era, but NBCU/Dreamworks owns Filmation He-man &, seemingly, all movie/tv rights to She-ra.
    THAT SAID, A, obviously Mattel & Dreamworks should work out a deal to allow both twins and their main castmates to each appear in the other's media.
    HOWEVER, even if that doesn't or hasn't happened, I think Mattel has done the right thing and is in the clear to forge ahead with the twins tale under the Despara etc. I suspect that was part of Rob David & company's plan when they first started introducing Despara in the 2010s. Dreamworks may have tv/film rights to the specific look and name of She-Ra, but NOBODY has exclusive rights to stories with superhero twin sisters. There is no legal statute to stop The Witcher, Superman, the Harry Potter series, or any other major genre franchise, from giving their main character a twin sibling with super powers. Neither Dreamworks nor Mattel can legally tell the other "you can't give He-Man/She-ra an unnamed, blonde haired, opposite gender twin in your movies/shows, because everyone is going to automatically know who they really are..." It doesn't work that way. Mattel can give He-Man a blonde, twin sister, even without any agreement from NBCU/Dreamworks, as long as they call her She-ra and put her in the trademarked She-ra costume.
    I frankly think that both NBCU/Dreamworks and Mattel should give one another a fair amount of lenience to both use He-Man and She-ra, along with whatever MOTU/POP toys appeared in BOTH the original Mattel 1980s toylines/minicomics AND the original Filmation era MOTUPOP cartoons, as long as both companies do so reasonably and respectfully ( i.e. Mattel only uses She-ra as a supporting character, and doesn't try to make a show with her as the titular lead, and Dreamworks respects the same parameters regarding He-Man ). I'm pretty sure NEITHER side wants to start being a stick in the mud or a tyrant about "their" legal rights, because the legal rights are SO tricky and complex, they could easily wind up locked in legal contention for years, and might wind up unable to freely use characters they THOUGHT they owned. The rights regarding not only She-ra, but also the whole Evil Horde ( & both Mattel & Filmation worked on designs for both the POP girls AND the Horde boys, as seen in Hordak's early designs ), are a lot more complex and ambiguous than either company likes to let on. Better for both companies to just take a relaxed approach, and give leeway on both sides.
    That said, I DO think Mattel has worked out a deal, or is at least confident that they are in good legal standing, BECAUSE, Despara refers to Horde Prime by name. Horde Prime is ENTIRELY a Filmation creation, PRECISELY like Shadow Weaver, and MUCH MORE so than She-ra. She-ra, Catra, Frosta etc ALL had Mattel designed toys in the original 1980s era, and all appeared in minicomics, with She-ra's origin minicomic featuring He-Man, the Sorceress, Hordak and Man-at-arms. Horde Prime NEVER appeared in toy form ( not until the 2010s MOTUClassics era ), nor in the original minicomics. Horde Prime was 100% Filmation, so if they are using him, they can use She-ra.

    Regarding Teddy's reference to the 200x Skeletor transformation: He felt that the acid burning wasn't believable because it would leave a person deformed, rather than turn a head into a floating skull. The deformation is exactly what happened until Evil-Lyn took Keldor to Hordak who finished the job by turning him into a skull head. This all happened in the 200x show. So, the acid was the catalyst, but it was Hordak that did the transformation. I hope that clears things up!

I'm so glad to hear y'all writers are romantics and wanted teela and adam to level up together in a very romantic (to me) way. in a way I'm glad it was only 5 episodes cuz it made the story concise and to the point with no time wasted with slowing down filler. Hell yeah. Ted, Rob, Tim, Kevin & Co.’s thoughts on the true power of Adam as expressed by Ted here are so…damn…refreshing. Fully agree with rethinking this story from “a 21st century lens”, and I really think that this p.o.v. is exactly why Revelation and Revolution are so damn great. (Not to mention why I think it can really resonate with today’s young folx. Their thinking takes the somewhat anachronistic He-Man and makes him a profoundly relevant hero in 2024, and the rest of the Masters cast-Lyn, Teela, Orko, Skeletor, Hordak-all very understandable and valuable archetypes to have audiences engage with. That’s all fancy talk for, “I appreciate these creators and dig their work.” Great job on the interview Cole. ✌🏾➕✊🏾

    He is trying to rewrite what Revelations was about, claiming it was about learning about Adam...He-Man literally said at the end of the final battle that it wasn't about him and Skeletor.
    And saying he wants to add 21st century values is a lot of what is wrong with modern entertainment.
    Every fantasy world has to be turned into costal United states culture.

    23:10 Wrong! The best way to live your life is with a healthy dose of pessimism and pragmatism. You are in a position where you have to take everything with a grain of salt. You always have to be prepared for the possibility and eventuality that you will be double-crossed! That is the one thing King Randor did not teach Adam. The first thing you teach your children in life that you will have people who will double cross you and you have to prepare them for the day that you die. Any man who does not do any of that has failed as a father.

      Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think it's important to actually watch the things we complain about to be fair and honest in our criticism.
      That said, I'm not sure how this show is guilty of "woke-washing" and I think people who have these kind of complaints, especially when they have admitted to not even watching the show, are trying way too hard to be offended. That just seems sad and pathetic to me.

    • @sirellyn
      @sirellyn 5 місяців тому +2

      @@dadatarms I saw the first one, and I've read spoilers for the second one. They woke washed your namesake, man at arms. I have no clue how you can't see that. She apparently calls herself MAN at arms over and over again like some irate feminist stereotype with a chip on her shoulder.
      They nixed shadoweaver for some bizarre tech sorceress. Any loving nurturing woman is gone. Hell Marlena can't even step up as queen because contrived reasons to force an idiotic decision on Adam, because of plot convivence death of Randor. Remember Randor's father? Well neither did Kevin Smith, because he was still out there too.
      All the easter eggs, even Gwildor would have counted for 1000x more if it didn't get the "modern audience" coat of woke paint. People are sick to death of this crap, and the viewing numbers show it.
      The animators deserve praise to be sure. But I feel horrible their work has to be tied to this garbage writing.

    • @dadatarms
      @dadatarms  5 місяців тому +4

      @@sirellyn The viewing numbers show the opposite of what you claim, actually. Revelation had high enough views to justify another season... that's how we got Revolution. Speaking of Revolution, it's sitting at an 80% Audience Rating as well as trending at #6 in Netflix's Top 10... It's doing just fine.
      Man at Arms is now Man of War, and he is a walking arsenal in this show... not sure how he's getting sidelined for the feminist propaganda when Andra is shown getting tricked by Keldor and accidentally helping him enslave the entire Eternos citizenry.
