They appear to be silver cats in every way except that without the Inhibitor/Silver gene instead of being pale white or gray they look pale yellow or golden. Their markings however can retain color so you'd still have an orange tabby with red markings only, the base would be golden. The same happens with brown and dilution. That's just the mainstream theory of what the Golden Coat is though! It has been seen in other situations where the Silver genes are still there and they still appear as golden, or even populations of actual wild cats showing signs of the Golden Series throughout a whole colony, without anyone knowing 100% why, so it can totally be possible for a group of cats to develope it naturally, it's just rare because the circumstances have to be very precise (as Silver is not recessive) So in theory: Non-agouti + Wide Band = Solid Colour Non-agouti + Wide Band + dominant Silver = Smoke Pattern Agouti + Wide Band = Golden series Agouti + Wide Band + dominant Silver = Silver series Sorry for the rant! Silver and Golden ARE the same gene in cats! However, it is the inclusion of ANOTHER gene that causes the change from silver to golden. This gene is called the "Inhibitor" gene, though it is actually a set of genes that tend to get talked about as one gene. If a cat has the Inhibitor gene (plus a gene called the Wide Band gene, which most cats to my understanding have), they are silver. Love your videos, they always make me really happy to watch! I love seeing people make the family trees accurate :)
High wide band is entirely unnecessary for silver to show actually! Since they're not related, high wide band only makes them lighter/paler As for 'most' cats having it, to get a golden tabby, golden shaded, etc. You do need to specifically breed for it irl, since widebanding is most likely the sum effect of several genes. Most cats will indeed not have particularly high wideband
@@chinchbug6934 No, there are actually multiple different breeds of cats that can have Golden colored tabbies, including some completely random-bred street cats that have on occasion been documented as well! 😊 (it's just more common to see it pop up in certain specific breeds than in other breeds or in random-bred cats, because of selective/intentional breeding for it..or for other things..in specific-Breed/pedigreed cats.🤭😁🤍)
The inhibitor gene IS actually what the Silver gene is called. The wide-banding that causes Golden tabbies was first observed in shaded and chinchilla Silver tabbies, but can also occur in cats that have no silver gened ancestry as well. ^-^ A golden colored tabby is a tabby cat that _has_ inherited (Golden) Wide-banding .. but *_has NOT_* inherited the (Silver) inhibitor gene. Although some people do call the Silver gene "[pheo]melanin inhibitor" or "[pheo]melanin restriction" AND call the (golden) Wide-banding "eumelanin inhibitor" or "eumelanin restriction"-because neither the silver/inhibitor gene nor the golden/widebanding gene has actually been scientifically identified yet, studies are currently ongoing working toward doing so, and that results in there really being only "unofficial" terminology used to describe it which is not always designated uniformly from one person to the next. _Most cats DO NOT have wide-banding. But all tabbies do have hairs that alternate in bands of darker coloring with bands of lighter coloring from their tips to their bases._

You're gonna do Brokenstar's family? Cool! Especially since Yellowfang's parents are a golden tabby molly and pale ginger tom and she's gray with brown littermates
I love this video and I love the accuracy, I’m really into genes and dna but also don’t forget cats can get genes from grandparents or from your aunts and uncles because your parents could have the gene off but for you it’s on. For example I have freckles but only my aunt and my great grandpa do as well.
3:38 - About Mapleshade, I read online that Calico cats cannot have calico kittens, that nature just goes wild with the kittens' colors. So I believe Patchkit and Larchkit would be the only of her kits to change.
This video gave me the idea for a current Wattpad story of mine. It's basically the same as cannon(In Thunderclan), except Juniperkit and Dandelionkit are still alive, but are assumed to be dead because of a flood that happened(I just needed a reason for why they would be assumed dead, but actually alive, and instead ended up in Riverclan(Since I thought that it would give Juniperkit the most hardship) I hope it was a good idea, since I wanted a way to kill two birds with one stone(Keeping Juniperkit alive, and giving Violateshine a personality)
that sounds like an amazing au!!! they could be assumed dead if it simply took them too long to find them. its unlikely that kits would end up all the way on the other side of the lake territories, so ThunderClan would never even think to ask RiverClan if they've seen their kits, and since RiverClan would never know ThunderClan was missing kits, they'd also end up keeping the kits too!
I have a cat and have always said since he was a kitten (when I first got him) that he looked to be lilac/lavender in certain lights, it's cool to find more out about feline genetics
I made Goldenflower a dilute tortie (Fawn and creme) these two are similar in colour so her design wouldnt be changed much and the creme patches can be styled like flowers. Which made it so Tawny and Bramble can look like their canon designs. I tend to work from child to parent or from 'current important' character to older character. Also things like plot relevant descriptions are ones I fight to keep.
How brokenstar and tigerheart’s family trees intersect: Brokenstar’s father is raggedstar. Raggedstar’s brother is Scorchwind. Rowanclaw is Scorchwind’s son. Tigerheart is Rowanclaw’s son. So they’re first cousins once removed (I think). Also, their tree intersects with Blackstars. (distantly.) basically, the last three leaders of shadowclan were all related.
I like how she said lilac Like on scratch has a game named Warrior cats kit to leader and it's mother Named Lilacpath also it based off Bramblestar leaves the clan and forms a new clan named Brambleclan and Ur gona chose what ur gonna choose to do (the creator is called Mose-shadow )
Yep.. the video says that too. ^-^ .. but LollingCatto didn't really understand how the real-life gene that causes Golden colored tabbies works when they were making these first 4 videos, so for these particular videos "golden" coloring is basically just treated as if it is synonymous to "ginger" coloring; and(because of that) if a cat that is described as being golden in the books doesn't have parents who are described as being ginger, or if they had only grandparents who were described as being not-ginger colored, then cinnamon (and typically diluted cinnamon) is treated as the next closest approximation to golden coloring-just for these videos. Because these videos aren't just fan art of the cats from the books, these videos are a reimagination of the cats from the books but colored how they might have looked if their coloring was inherited the way that real-life cats inherit their colors(even if that means some of the cats look very different from how they look in the books). 🙂
I been needed to find out if TawnyPelt was a white tortoiseshell like SorrelTail or if she is the tan/pale and black tortoiseshell, you answered me, thank you very much (And even tho you made her brown tabby the picture showed me that she is a white tortoiseshell)
As a dumb dumb with 40 ferals forming my 'cat army' and who is a fan of warrior cats, this is very fun to watch, just a bunch of cats looking kinda similar cause if you have an isolated group of cats genetic dictates many of them will look very similar.

As for 'most' cats having it, to get a golden tabby, golden shaded, etc.
A golden colored tabby is a tabby cat that _has_ inherited (Golden) Wide-banding .. but *_has NOT_* inherited the (Silver) inhibitor gene.
*the captions keep getting better and better*
“squiff was a brown or black tortilla at the start but whatever i said squelf was now a black tortilla i guess”
“means quilt is black now too”
“what the heck errands”
“dandelion becomes attorney”
“shes a cream and light brown torii”
“juniper kit was hot frosting”
“her grandmother who dined on the journey to find skyclam”
🤣🤣 👏
Yes! I love these! Keep it up! ♥️
I love your videos! Keep up the good work 😊
thank you!
You're gonna do Brokenstar's family? Cool!
Especially since Yellowfang's parents are a golden tabby molly and pale ginger tom and she's gray with brown littermates
Me: thinking of Bluestar's family
Video: I'll either do Tigerheart or Brokenstar's family or Bluestars'
Me: :OOOOOO
Omg, this must have taken you sooo long! Thank you so much!
Oh no you de tawnyed the pelt! (This sounds a lot funnier in my head )
dont worry, its still funny! XD
@@LollingCatto it’s so stupid but it’s so funny :,3
YASSSS I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
Yessss! But I was sleeping when this came out :(
OMG Welcome back!! Also they're pronounced Bur*Meez and Sigh*A*Meez. Great work on the video!
That's how I pronounce them in my head- no idea how they sounded when the words left my mouth lol
I love this video and I love the accuracy, I’m really into genes and dna but also don’t forget cats can get genes from grandparents or from your aunts and uncles because your parents could have the gene off but for you it’s on. For example I have freckles but only my aunt and my great grandpa do as well.
i love how dandelionkit's half spot on her eye makes her look like she has eye bags lmao
I love these genetics vids! But make sure not to Limit yourself to what gets popular, do what YOU wanna do!
I love these. I hope u make a new episode! No rush tho :)
3:38 - About Mapleshade, I read online that Calico cats cannot have calico kittens, that nature just goes wild with the kittens' colors. So I believe Patchkit and Larchkit would be the only of her kits to change.
This video gave me the idea for a current Wattpad story of mine. It's basically the same as cannon(In Thunderclan), except Juniperkit and Dandelionkit are still alive, but are assumed to be dead because of a flood that happened(I just needed a reason for why they would be assumed dead, but actually alive, and instead ended up in Riverclan(Since I thought that it would give Juniperkit the most hardship)
I hope it was a good idea, since I wanted a way to kill two birds with one stone(Keeping Juniperkit alive, and giving Violateshine a personality)
that sounds like an amazing au!!! they could be assumed dead if it simply took them too long to find them. its unlikely that kits would end up all the way on the other side of the lake territories, so ThunderClan would never even think to ask RiverClan if they've seen their kits, and since RiverClan would never know ThunderClan was missing kits, they'd also end up keeping the kits too!
*sips water*
I may be on Midnight.. but I cannot stop watching this series..
Female kittens can get ginger fur from their mother and father but male kittens can only get ginger fur from their mother
I love this learning experience
I have a cat and have always said since he was a kitten (when I first got him) that he looked to be lilac/lavender in certain lights, it's cool to find more out about feline genetics
I want to see content of that AU though…
I made Goldenflower a dilute tortie (Fawn and creme) these two are similar in colour so her design wouldnt be changed much and the creme patches can be styled like flowers. Which made it so Tawny and Bramble can look like their canon designs. I tend to work from child to parent or from 'current important' character to older character. Also things like plot relevant descriptions are ones I fight to keep.
personally, i feel like the design here for sparkpelt fits her name a lot better!
I came here for the tawnypelt and the brambleclaw, I'm not disappointed with the Tigerstar clones
YES
at 4:31 yall notice on NightKit and MistKit how it says noob? (Edit: and MistKit)
Blessed by the youtube algorithm thiss dayy
Yuz another episode!!
Now I want to make something about the JuniperKit-HawkFrost theory
"one sweetbriar":D
MAKE THE AU. DO IT. DO IT. DO IT.
YEs I WANTeD ThE BRAMBlE StAr GEnES
How brokenstar and tigerheart’s family trees intersect:
Brokenstar’s father is raggedstar.
Bluestar! bluestar! bluestar! bluestar!
Please do bluestar…
And after that if you have the time I really want you to do SwiftPaw!
man, i really wish juniperkit and dandelionkit survived. i really like their names
I would love to see an accurate yellowfang family tree! 🐱❤️
? I don't have an OC named Lilacpath
I meant when u said lilac
okay but i'm looking back at this now, and i'm sometimes but suddenly seeing chihuaua..
tawnypelt is always described in the book as a golden spotted she-cat. never a Tortie.
Yep.. the video says that too. ^-^ .. but LollingCatto didn't really understand how the real-life gene that causes Golden colored tabbies works when they were making these first 4 videos, so for these particular videos "golden" coloring is basically just treated as if it is synonymous to "ginger" coloring; and(because of that) if a cat that is described as being golden in the books doesn't have parents who are described as being ginger, or if they had only grandparents who were described as being not-ginger colored, then cinnamon (and typically diluted cinnamon) is treated as the next closest approximation to golden coloring-just for these videos. Because these videos aren't just fan art of the cats from the books, these videos are a reimagination of the cats from the books but colored how they might have looked if their coloring was inherited the way that real-life cats inherit their colors(even if that means some of the cats look very different from how they look in the books). 🙂
Gold gene is widebanding
Lmao i also mix up dilution too despite knowing its reccesive
I love the fact that Tigerclaw managed to get two girls-
I really do enjoy these videos
Even though I don't actually know what these characters are from
They're from Warriors by Erin Hunter!
OMG so good!
I love it!
I been needed to find out if TawnyPelt was a white tortoiseshell like SorrelTail or if she is the tan/pale and black tortoiseshell, you answered me, thank you very much
(And even tho you made her brown tabby the picture showed me that she is a white tortoiseshell)
I really need thst juniper and dandelion au noe man I’m invested😔😔
Make Greystripe's family! NO! ACTUALLY! Make Sorreltail's family tree next!
As a dumb dumb with 40 ferals forming my 'cat army' and who is a fan of warrior cats, this is very fun to watch, just a bunch of cats looking kinda similar cause if you have an isolated group of cats genetic dictates many of them will look very similar.
I just realized how many leaders are related to Bramblestars family. I thought about Tawnypelt and how many leaders she is related to plus her mate is a leader
Honestly I don’t know how you don’t get crazy confused. Just hearing you talk about it sometimes confuses me. But I’m glad you understand it!
Edit: I’m glad Bramblestar got his cannon design! I haven’t read any of the newer books yet but I was wondering why you gave him more scars than Tigerstar before you said anything. So thanks for spoiling that tiny detail (Not sarcasm)!! Also I’m super glad Alderheart keeps his cannon design because he is my favorite cat in Warriors and I always loved his coat.
Actual vid: tortoise shell
Subtitles: T O R T I L L A
would love a bluestar family breakdown!
I would like to see Brambleberry’s family
sadly brambleberry has no family members named in the books, so we cant see a genetically accurate brambleberry tree
How did no one know cats can have multiple different fathers😢
i am aware of that! ....but this is Warrior Cats, where cats are stated to have 1 father.
i wanna see bluestars family next
I am obsessed with this series. Do we have permission to draw these designs with credit?
sure!
Idc that I'm spoiling so much of wc for me, I'm addicted
Ok something is wrong with me. I for some reason thought Mothwing was light blue with white why have I been thinking this like it’s not even possible what the heck is wrong with me
Could you please make a video explaining cat genetic!!! Please!!! Please!!! I'm begging u!!!🥺🥺🥺
So cool 😎
Oh gosh Juniper and Dandelion AU *that's* concerning I *really* want that
Genetics are really interesting to me
