originally transmitted 31.01.83. Mick talks about his solo projects, followed by a dance number. love how the Japan guys are talented in so many areas.
One of the most talented men ever. His prowess was beyond any I’ll ever experience. Not just his bass playing but synth, percussion and of course horns. So many levels of genius. Truly missed.
He was such a legend and a rare talent . His bass playing was fascinating and inspiring . His dance moves were iconic too . Sadly missed . Thank you Mick for the fantastic music ❤️🙏❤️
I had 'Titles' by Mick Karn on cassette. This track 'Passion in Moisture' is an excellent example of how only Mick could make a fretless 'talk' like that.
Very talented bassist, but yes handsome man. I know Sylvian is obviously beautiful, but Karn was a strikingly, almost mysterious look. Never thought about that before.
I went to his sculpture exhibition, and saw a number of those items seen here on the clip. Added bonus: "That looks like Sue Menhenick.....it IS Sue Menhenick" A top dancer, and stunningly attractive woman.
Genius, unpredictable. Robot like dancing can be artful with music. Robot like music can be artful with dancing. Such a talent. Looks like the dancer’s tend to move faster. I think there’s a synchronization problem.
I got into Mick Karn's stuff when Three Part Species came out. 2006? It really doesn't seem that long ago, but I guess it took me over a decade to get around to picking up The Concrete Twin and Titles. Such an expressive musician; thanks for sharing this brief look at the man behind the music.
Was some of his sculpture. He was also a talented artist. I saw him live when he was with Japan. He died on January 4th, my birthday. Rest in peace angel x
Hi there, nice interview stuff here! ? He is still my heroe! Thansk for sharing this. I played a JB song with my fretless bass and put all Mick influence in there. Will tiy cmment me please?
Life killed Andonis Michaelides. I'm going to miss this man's music so much. I think he'd really hit a run of form with the albums Each eye a path, More better different, Three part species and The Concrete twin. This track, Passion in moisture, sounds so modern to my ears, as does much of Titles. So talented and yet so apparently full of self doubt. Seems to so often be the way with the truly gifted.
Fascinating musician who’s criminally underrated and surely missed..RIP Mick
What a legend. His basslines are completely insane
RIP Mick , you were very special, unique, a craftsman with 4 and 5 strings , i'm honoured to have seen you live 3 times , god bless you ////
I sometime put a Japan album on purely to listen to Mick Karn's incredible bass playing.
Mick Karn was absolutely gorgeous, elegant, and very regal. 🥰✨💕He just takes your breath away. 😔 😢🕊️💐💖

My goodness Mick Karn was utterly stunning, sigh. And his fretless bass playing was and is THE best
Pino Palladino's work with Gary Numan was pretty great, as well.

amazing dude. not many bass players i enjoy more than his material

Mick, you are one the biggest influences on my musical career. Hope you're still grooving in the great gig in the sky!
I LOVE THIS! MICK WAS A SUPERSTAR!
What an incredible guy
I love Mick so much, and he does NOT look like he’d have the voice he does 😭. He’s gorgeous and sooo talented. RIP Mick Karn :(
Thank you mick for all that great music
Great bass player and very handsome man🎸🎷👍

BASS GOD... MICK KARN.
Such a talented guy
Such wonderful movement, music and dance; the contrast of tension with a strong hint of Argentine tango mesmerized me.
RIP indeed. Such a unique talent. Great to see he had any period of time apart from japan and able to experiment in different directions
Mick: we miss you.
A great genius, my bass style will take a new direction ❤
This dance is absolutely fantastic! Just discovering Mick Karn's work. Should be performed on Strictly Come Dancing-wouldn't that be great?
No! Strictly is anything but strict. It's a fixed show they know who the inner is before the series starts.
But he already passed away
The Maestro
never forget my mother shouting 'it sounds like a bull frog' when i was playing it.
Mick Karn was the man. One of the best English bassists of all time, no contest.
Nationality doesn't come into it. Show me a more original bass player worldwide.
Such a beautiful man ❤

Between the video and sound.
Polytown (Torn, Karn, Bozzio) is a fantastic album !!!
Amazing Mick ! Thanks for sharing !
So hot RIP
Great artist !!!
thank you
Shoot, I saw the Ballet Rambert perform in Tokyo in 1990, never realised he was involved at a certain time!
think about a hall full of people all dancing like that.
MickKarnの話し声が低くてバリトンVoiceなのが最高!アートが趣味で彫刻の作品は彼独特の物で良いですね
Thanks for the quality!

Thanks for posting this !!! ;D
MICK KARN R.I.P
'Sensitive' is a sensational piece of music.
Superb
And kudos to Mick for not taking the opportunity to badmouth Sylvian, who definitely deserved it, and kept it focused on creativity. Very rare.
In what why did DS deserve it ?

So strange but perfect
I could easily see Pina Bausch's company using Mick's music. Maybe they already have?
😔🙏
has anyone mentioned the lovely decor where the interviews conducted.its kind of like if clive barker did up your living room
Was some of his sculpture. He was also a talented artist. I saw him live when he was with Japan. He died on January 4th, my birthday. Rest in peace angel x
@@AA4PJM I know about him. Was just having a giggle. Not stepping on his grave or nothing. Settle
This guy is smart, he was a Psychotherapist too.

did he ever end up writing music for ballet?
edit: never mind, addressed in the video, lol
The dancing looks like it was heavily influenced by the body-popping/robotic dancing craze of the early/mid 1980s.
Anyone know what Mick means by this hand busienss? Did they ever come to life Compare Dreams of Reason produce monsters
Who are his wife and children?
Wife Kyoko, son Metis
Mick Karn or John Taylor?
Behave!
Yeah! Behave!!! 🤣
Karn was the originator but Taylor is an excellent player. So both.
I always loved Japan, and part of their sound was Mick's fretless bass. Sounds funny now. Like flatulence!
It certainly does on this chaotic bilge!
Smoking killed Karn

Yeah, you can hear it in his voice at this point in time he smoked a lot.
Some interview. About 1 minute with Mick, and the rest a load of bollocks.
