I think that budget is very reasonable for living life on your terms. You couldn’t afford to do all of that in Australia for the same budget. Well done and enjoy 😊
24,000,000 IDR = $1,567.86 USD sounds like a great cost of living to me. My mortgage alone on Florida was @ $1200/month! And, I didn't have a pool and definitely no massages each week!
Thanks for such a honest discussion- we have done some homework ourselves and really found your advice informative and a great help. Still look to meeting you guys in August. Take care 😊
Hey Kim, I have really been enjoying your channel. You are a natural in front of the camera and a bit of an inspiration to me. Love your hair it's beautiful. Hopefully we can catch up soon. Love Fi (Norton)
Hi 🙂 .. found you the other day and have been loving going back through your videos. Such a great breakdown of costs and very informative. Am enjoying coming along with you on your journey . Have a great day 🙂
Hi Kim & Berg, was nice to meet you the other day while you were sitting under that tree. Love your work. Sanur is always our home away from home, so understand why you have settled there. All the best from Cairns.
Another great vlog which was so informative, I Was surprised it was so high but your break down was everything We would have also...food for thought, cheers guys
Thanks a lot guys, appreciate the honesty and reality of it. More than I thought TBH but still pretty good for that lifestyle in a central location. We are really being ripped for phone plans in Oz.
How would you suggest we go about finding accommodation? Only my wife and I in our 60's Something like I can see in your video would be ideal. Looking at 1 to 3 months August till November. Thanks in advance
More expensive than I thought it would be, but I’d move there if I could afford to. I swear money just slips through my fingers whenever I’m over there. Next time I’m going to do a proper budget 😅
Thanks so much for sharing your living in Bali costings. What would concern me is the exchange rate as it's high against the rupiah at the moment but we only got 1500 in 1988 and during most visits have got between 5500 and 8500. I'm guessing the exchange rate won't remain high especially as Indonesia is expected to become the 4th largest economy in the world in a few years (I've forgotten how long). Sorry to be pessimistic but Singapore used to be a cheap destination but now it's dollar for dollar. I love your videos and the advice you share.
Not necessarily because the rate of inflation in Indonesia has probably been quite a lot higher than in Australia over the last decade or so. High inflation will undermine the exchange rate in the long term.
Kim and Berg, John here, I am home in Geelong. Your explanation about contact, did that include WhatsApp? I hope you enjoyed the Cheese and Vegemite! I will visit again in July. Today's video was great, well done....JM
These guys are really good. They live and spend very similar to me and my Indonesian wife that live in Jimbaran. But our budget is around 20 mil $2000 aud we don't have a cleaner and we were living in a kost tiny flat paying 2 mil $200 aud a month including electricity. Now we in our own Villa with swimming pool and just pay electricity and rates.
Pretty much as I expected but was surprised at the groceries.....approx $150 per week...... even allowing for $30 cat food. I guess toiletries, cleaning agents etc are still relatively pricey. I'm guessing there's a decent amount of Western food items in that too eg butter, cheese, smallgoods?? These are what really cost us during our winter sojourns in Sanur. Having said that, I have noticed, and do admire, your financial discipline....well done. PS Can you tell I'm a retired Bank Manager lol.
Hey guys, love watching your videos, you remind me of me and my wife😄. Question, my wife and I will be looking at moving there in the next year or two, so what kind of visa do you guys have? Cheers
Thanks heaps for that! Very helpful. I am actually surprised that you spend so little! My main concern about moving to Bali is Health Insurance cost. I have given up because at my age it was so expensive.( Over 75.) I would love to know more about your insursnce. What Visa do you need to be on for the incredibly cheap Indonesian Insurance? Also I thought by law you had to employ a local e.g. housekeeper, gardener or whatever. I could live cheaply other than that, because of reduced eating costs. I don't eat as much as most people and I don't eat red meat. I am on a pension in Oz and I pay rent, yet I go to Bali once a year, so I live cheaply and well. I don't go out to eat and I cook every day. Thanks Kim and Berg!
Thanks for watching! Anyone on a KITAS type visa (retirement etc) can join the BPJS program after a certain period of time! It’s 150k per month ($15aud). We have a pool man & house cleaner!
Thank you!! I was in a retirement group a while back and no one mentioned the cheap insurance! I couldn't find anyone who would Insure me. I will look into it. Your videos are great! Thanks again!
@bergsinbali is BPJS only available for a retiree? I am only 48 yo & thinking of moving to Bali. I was originally from Medan Indonesia. But became an Australian citizen & has lived in Perth for 22 years before getting married & moving to USA 7 years ago.
Hi Laraine, our lease is for 24 years so no need for us to renew for a long time! 🤩 Other people opt for 1 year, 5 year, 15 year contracts. It depends on your situation and how far you’d like to pay up. In a villa complex like ours, the pool maintenance is included in the monthly body corp fees
Hey guys, good vid outlining costs. Please tell me have you retired over there and sold up in Oz or are you doing FIFO work as you look too young to retire!
It might be more than you thought but you’re not getting an equivalent lifestyle to what you’d be getting in Oz. Luxury monthly getaways, great healthy food and massages would be costing way more in Oz. Back in Canberra this week I ordered a smoothie which cost $9 but was full of added sugar. Nothing like the pure dragonfruit smoothie I was getting there every day for $3.50. Apples to apples I reckon your lifestyle would be at least 3x more expensive here. Maybe more.
Thanks for watching 🤩 We appreciate your comment! I guess we could substitute massages or morning coffees if we wanted to add Bintang to the budget & have it come out the same 😀
Great video lots of questions answered do you plan on living in Bali forever,I watched a video on a retired couple who moved to Bali and were staying at least 10to20 years now i see that they are going home to Australia in 2or3 years do you think that will be you two

I don't know exactly when this video was done but I think you guy,s are into a shock in let's say 2 years. Your rent is about 9 million right? When your 3 year lease is finished I hope you still can get it under 15 million monthly. All rent went up scandalous sorry to say! 😢
Hi Kim and Bergs 🙂My partner and I have watched this video several times along with your other videos. We think your budget is very realistic. We have been to Bali many times, it feels like home to us 🙂. Can I ask how long the visa took to complete and what company did you go through? What website did you use to find your rental/lease option?
Thanks for watching, our visa agent was Bali visas, it’s taking about 1 month at the moment but sometimes longer. If you join Sanur community you can questions about villas and get prices.
That's not bad I guess for 2 people about A$615 per week or 307 each for everything. I am 1 person here in OZ and it cost me around A$700- and I don't eat out often. It depends where you live too both in Bali and Australia as obviously if you live outside tourists zones your rents will be much cheaper. I love Bali and want to spend 6 months there and six months in OZ which will pay for that. I am a person who has mini retirements every 5 years or so because I think if you work 50 years straight to retire then travel you have to rely on the fact that your health is good and governments don;t change economic conditions. Well done for giving an honest insight and not one of these BS instagram vids where they are in all these exotic locations living like multi millioaires.
Food, the cheap = warung foods are delicious but not nutritious. Warung foods usually are high-carb, ie rice, mie/bakmie, a few leaves of vegi or bean sprout this vegi part could be considered healthy..protein rich food , like sate,BBQ, babi guling, cost more..
We are heading the Bali in a few weeks and staying benoa is this place similar in vibe to sanur? And as a more mature couple will we fit in ? Loving your videos 😊
Hi, as a mature couple we've stayed in Benoa... it's a small area with some restaurants and limited shopping. The beach is geared up for water sports. I much prefer Sanur for the relaxed ambience and a more village feel with plenty of food options and a lovely ocean front board walk.
Do you tip a lot e.g. for massages and Beauty treatments. As a tourist I always tip, but I feel it would get expensive to do all the time if you lived there.
Thanks for watching & subscribing Tracey. We tip a little for food if there’s no tax or service charge. We usually give 5000 for a massage. You’re right it’s to expensive to tip all the time.
Hi Kim & Berg Can I ask how much your scooters cost to purchase please? Very interested to know 💕 Love watching your vLogs and keep my fingers crossed there’s a new one every time I look 😅
If you want to live like a local, you need to get their welcome and heart. You need to learn respect to our culture, not western culture. You need to learn how to stay in the middle of local community, leave your comfort zone, blend with peoples in the "real" village not tourist area. You will get more and more CHEAPER living costs, if they LOVE YOU so MUCH. Because we ASIAN peoples, not like WESTERN... they simply don't care and ignorance, but not us... We are taking care each others !!!

Hi , could you please tell me if Lovina is cheaper than Sanur ?
How much cheaper or more expensive ?
Thanks.
We haven’t lived in Lovina so are unaware of the cost of living comparison 😊
@@bergsinbali Thanks for your answer , but my question was for @russellnicholson2698 ;)

Thank you for responding Christine

Do you tip a lot e.g. for massages and Beauty treatments. As a tourist I always tip, but I feel it would get expensive to do all the time if you lived there.
Thanks for watching & subscribing Tracey. We tip a little for food if there’s no tax or service charge. We usually give 5000 for a massage

That is approx let say $1500 Aus each a month, that is way expensive.😢 Bali is not a cheap place to live.
It’s cheaper than what we spent living in Australia 🇦🇺🤷♀️
What an honourable way to make a living????
Thanks for watching
If you want to live like a local, you need to get their welcome and heart.
You need to learn respect to our culture, not western culture.
You need to learn how to stay in the middle of local community,
leave your comfort zone, blend with peoples in the "real" village not tourist area.
You will get more and more CHEAPER living costs, if they LOVE YOU so MUCH.
Because we ASIAN peoples, not like WESTERN... they simply don't care and ignorance, but not us...
We are taking care each others !!!
Great information for me = $600/wk for everything you included. Probably not run into you in a weeks time so enjoy a coffee on me.
Thank you very much Alan, very much appreciated.

Thanks for watching, we’re interested to know what you think we’re being ripped off ?
