  • We run our two BMW K1600 GTs on the dyno, before and after a Brentune ECU flash. This works for all 2017 and up BMW K1600 motorcycles, whether a GT, GTL, Bagger or Grand America. The results will amaze you! Good news, they also have packages for all K1600s from 2011 to 2016 too!

    I’ve got a ‘21 K1600b and I put a BrenTune on it right after the 600 mile break in period. It wasn’t a slow bike from the factory but the tune made it a screamer! There’s so much unlocked potential in those bikes it’s a shame the EU forced BMW to neuter it. Best money I ever spent 👍🏻

    I am very interested in using the Brentune on my 2021 K1600 but I don’t want to jeopardize the factory warranty. If I weren’t concerned about the warranty I would have absolutely done this by now. I would love to unlock the potential of this motorcycle.

      It is very quick and easy to return the bike to stock, undetectable form form. If you need to have the bike serviced, just reload the stock file. Only takes 5 minutes.

      I did the Bren Tune on my 2018 K1600B when it had 1,000 miles on it. Now it has 15,000 and has been flawlesss. Definately worth the money. It is a totally better responding bike with the Bren tune. Do it.

      @@JayBearjaysbigadventure hi mate, I just got around to the flash download and it’s certainly much sportier in my go to “Rock” mode. I like it, perhaps could still have bit more of a kick from idle to first launch but the pick up through the revs is impressive. Just got to make sure I don’t mess it up going back to stock before the next service!

    It sounded like the 2012 wasn’t reviving out all the way… usually this means fuel filters are clogged… if the fuel filters are clogged, you need to do a fuel flow test, (not fuel pressure), and you will most likely find that the filters will need replacing on the older vehicle… replacing them will make a significant difference to the power… my 2012 put out 145hp at the back wheel…

  • @MrHyunE
    @MrHyunE 2 роки тому +1

    The warranty is recognized only when it is inspected at the official service center every 5,000km.
    Do I have to restore it to its original state every time I check it?
    Isn't it detected whether it is tuned or not during the inspection?

    • @JayBearjaysbigadventure
      @JayBearjaysbigadventure  2 роки тому

      There is no way for the dealer to detect the flash, even if they went looking for it. If you have a major engine failure and you want peace of mind you can reinstall the stock tune in just a few minutes before taking it to the dealer. Regardless, they would have to prove that the tune caused the engine failure. Only then would there be a potential issue. It won't affect the warranty for any other system - regardless what the naysayers on the internet might tell you.

    Did you test everything in "Dynamic" mode, and does Brentune update profiles for each mode? I have the same two bikes that you do -- a white 2012 GT and a silver 2020 GT Sport and have noticed the same loss of throttle response in the 2020. Dynamic mode helps somewhat, but still short of what I was used to with the 2012.

    • @JayBearjaysbigadventure

      The Brentune makes a big difference, but man I love the 2012's response. It does update across the board, but since power was the point of the test, I figured I'd only run it there. Good question though! Might require a retest, lol...

    Hi JB, the first bike you put on the dyno was a 2020? You said it was making 138 hp. Just about everyone is saying this bike makes 158 - 160 hp. Must be at the crank, because the dyno doesn't lie. Wish we could have seen you ride it after the tune. Also, after the tune, did you notice if your idle dropped any at cold start? I was thinking about buying an adventure bike pretty soon. I kind of like the idea of a bike that can handle the dirt and trails. Problem with that is there aren't many trails where I live. Now I'm thinking about a big street bike. I love the BMW and also the Gold Wing.

    • @JayBearjaysbigadventure
      @JayBearjaysbigadventure  Рік тому +1

      You are correct, all manufacturers rate power at the crank. 15% losses are typical and this works out to 14%, so BMW's driveline is pretty efficient. The midrange just woke up and peak power is now 1000 RPM lower, so you don't need to spin it as high for the same grunt. Peak torque is now up to 130 ft lbs at the wheel, so 150 at the crank. But the biggest gain is really in throttle crispness, especially just off idle. Even if you never use the added power, the way it rides is so much nicer! You're looking at a Goldwing, which is like looking at an Accord vs a 3 series. Even if the performance is similar, the way the BMW goes down the road is just totally different. Some people immediately get it, others don't care. That's why Lexus is so popular. It's an appliance. Do you have a good relationship with your washer and dryer? Ever look back when you walk out of the laundry room? :) It's that sort of difference. :)

    • @HighMaintenancePS
      @HighMaintenancePS Рік тому

      All factory horse power figures are quoted at crank. Motorcycles typically loose 20hp through the driveline.

    My question is why does BMW claim 158 - 160 hp?

    • @JayBearjaysbigadventure
      @JayBearjaysbigadventure  Рік тому +1

      Engine power is measured at the flywheel, not at the ground so there are losses involved in the transmission, gear box and final drive. Most people figure 15% loss. The bike made 138 stock, which is a 14% loss. Right where it should be. :)

      @@JayBearjaysbigadventure I suppose it’s fine in the US and Canada, but in the UK and in Europe you’d have big problems. The corners/bends are a lot tighter and that drop off would be dangerous, especially since you have no tread on the sides. I’m not sure if it’s legal in the UK or Europe to stick a car tyre on a motorbike.
      If it works for you then that’s fine, but I’ve never scrimped on tyre costs since that’s lol that’s keeping you shiny side up. Back in 2011, I had 4 rear punctures in two months. All of them could have been mended, but I bought new rear tyres every time. That’s just my tuppence worth (or two cents worth) I just believe that tyres are crucial.

      @@JayBearjaysbigadventure I just checked, it’s completely illegal in the UK. If your bike has a car tyre fitted, and the bike is over 3 years old (first MOT check) it will fail the annual safety/roadworthiness test.
      If you fail the MOT for a vehicle. It cannot be used on a public road until the faults have been rectified and then it has to pass the MOT re-test. Thus, if you own a brand new bike and when it needs a rear tyre, you put a car one on, until the first MOT, you can get away with it. However, I think the Police would take a grim view of it, if you were stopped, especially since we are massive on safety in the UK and Europe.
      In the UK, the only time you can legally fit a car tyre is to a sidecar. Only the side car can have a car tyre or a bike tyre. We also have a load of laws on tread patterns, aspect ratios, tread depth and sidewall condition. To be truthful I’m glad I live in a country where safety is prioritised, because if you fit a car tyre to a bike, everything will be affected from suspension, handling, grip and braking distances.
      It is of course, a matter of choice, but I’ve never ever come across someone who would use a car tyre on a bike in 22 years of riding!
