I think Maul wanted ANAKIN to join him as his apprentice... he said Skywalker was the KEY TO EVERYTHING. Sith ALWAYS betrayed their masters to take over... Maul was wanting to kill Palps. Then HE could just appoint someone to rule the galaxy, just like he did on Mandalore.

I dont think he "loved" many people but i'm very convinced he loved Savage. He was deprived of true kinship through his life, it does actually seem like he wanted a "friendship" of sorts with Ahsoka and Ezra but his twisted upbringing wouldn't let him see it that way. Look at the way he is with Savage, he 100% treats him like a brother but when Savage brings it up he's like "no, i'm your master, youre my apprentice", he just wasn't raised to let himself feel these things. Its tragic, but hey it makes for a compelling villain.
Maul wanted to emulate Sidious by having an apprentice. Every force user he encountered, even his own brother, he wanted to turn into an apprentice. I dont know of he knew about the Rule of 2 but in his mind I think he likely didn't consider himself a sith lord without an apprentice. He doesn't try to kill Ahsoka or Ezra, he tries to get them to be his apprentice. Almost his singular, dogged focus.
He tried multiple times in fact with Ahsoka. Even after she defeated him, took Mandalore, and imprisoned him the first thing after being released you would think he’d show anger towards her but instead he figures they’re allies and starts to go on about a plan to escape. I do think that after Savage a part of him did just want to feel the void of him losing his brother. When talking to Ezra he does pretty much say they could be like brothers.
Exactly. I think part of it is while he was definitely dark side he wanted to have someone to teach and have under him and be better then sidious was to him. I could be wrong but it really seems like that with Ezra especially.
I think that is a good insight, Joelker. Sure, Darth Maul was evil, but it doesn't mean he was without need for kinship. In any event, he was largely the product of his past.
Maul basically won that duel with Ahsoka. The only reason he lost was because he hesitated and she made him cut the beam underneath him causing him to fall. Also I think he's perfectly capable of running a planet by himself he just needed a corrupt Mandalorian politician like Almec to be the puppet leader since he needed a Mandalorian to run Mandalore. I agree that he didn't necessarily have a plan to defeat Sidious. I believe he just wanted to get Ahsoka on his side and go from there. He messed up telling her that he planned to kill Anakin. He was probably hoping he could convince Ahsoka to help him kill Anakin or would have probably tried to use her against him by threatening her. It would have been kinda awesome to see Ahsoka join him and convince him not to kill Anakin and instead convince Anakin to join them in killing THE SENATE. Of course if that happened then we wouldn't have the awesome story we have but y'all know what I mean.
@@g.0.0 yeah because just like the other time i believe i recall him fighting a darth ashoka like ashoka he was hesitating as he didnt want to kill his own apprentice so if maul did manage to get her fully on his side anakin would have low chances of getting through it aslong as its just anakin and not obi wan with him they could probably take him out hes holding back with ashoka and ashoka is going possibly full force along with maul going full force overwhelming him with a double bladed lightsaber user and a dual wielder both at once attacking him constantly im not saying anakin cant win but.... yeah
I like your idea, yet I am doubtful he would kill Anakin, let alone early Vader. I don't believe Maul was a better Duelist than Dooku, and Anakin killed Dooku alone. (Granted Maul's clone did give Vader a run for his money, so I guess the question is whether or not Maul is a better fighter than Dooku.)
If maul wasn't arrogant he would beat anakin but then again I don't think maul would be arrogant fighting anakin because he knows if he loses then sidous gets what he wants
Clone1: hey have you heard, were getting new orders Clone2: Yeah also I think the jedi will die tho.. Clone1:Haha *gets order* Clone:Haha Gun go pew pew
What I never understood is if Maul knew that Ahsoka was Anakin's apprentice from his interrogation with Jesse, then why did he think it was a good idea to tell Ahsoka that he planned to kill Anakin. Clearly, she wouldn't side with him if she knew it would lead to Anakin's death.
It was clearly an shortsighted moment on mauls part, he likely thought that once Ahsoka had agreed to help him that she could’ve dealt with the fact that her master was Fated to be a servant of evil, and that Maul planned on killing him, which we as fans know she was not okay with because of the connection the two had akin to that of brother and sister.
I believe it was because while Maul eventually knew what Anakin was fated to be, he made a grave miscalculation and wrongly assumed about Ahsoka's and Anakin's relationship from the beginning and the circumstances that led Ahsoka to leave the Jedi Order. Yes, the Jedi Order abandoned Ahsoka when she needed them the most, but not Anakin, who never lost faith in her. And because of this, while Ahsoka did hold resentment towards the Jedi as a result, she had none towards Anakin, thus she still considers him to be her friend and never lost faith towards him, despite having lost faith in the Jedi Order. Combined with what he learned of what the Jedi did to Ahsoka and with his own knowledge of Anakin's destiny, Maul naturally made the erroneous assumption that Anakin was a lying, manipulative, traitorous, abusive, etc. person just like Sidious. What he failed to know is that Anakin was a good person who did not abandon anyone in his life at that point (especially Ahsoka during when she needed him the most).
Maul "lost" the duel with Ahsoka because he was never trying to kill her. Ahsoka was only able to gain the upper hand in the duel once she exploited his fatal flaw, his arrogance.
I find maul a very sympathetic villain. He had a sick twisted childhood and sidious pretty much indoctrinated him into hating everything. He get’s thrown aside and goes insane out of hatred
When Ahsoka agrees to help Maul, I feel she would've tried to convince Maul to go to the Jedi Council before taking on Sidious. But alas, when asked the question of what he wants with Anakin Skywalker, Maul is brutally honest and Ahsoka immediately sees Maul as a threat, not an ally.
Darth Maul didn't fail at attaining the status of Sith Lord and neither was he simply a Sith Assassin; there's proof within two separate episodes where Palpatine says in the one, "and Maul, Maul was a loss.", where as in the other he said, "You are no longer my Apprentice, you have become a rival!". Sidious wouldn't have given him the respect of being called a rival unless he recognized him as in fact, a competing Sith Lord.
@@geetslys dude at first I was expecting geonosis and poggle to be involved regularly in separtist affairs and not to just be in a few episodes, I wanted him to essentially be like lott Dodd or nute gunray who are actually involved regularly with the separatists, same with wat tambor. The geonosians had such an opportunity to be great and geonosis could have been a separtist stronghold permanently throught the clone wars, much like raxus but more screen time
“It’s really not out of the question that he wanted another Savage, someone by his side that he could actually depend on. Which is kind of sad.” That line just hit different. It actually made me feel bad for the guy. 😕
NOPE! Remember? Do you not remember why we didn’t join him? Because he wanted to kill our greatest friend and former master. I do kind of wish he had another friend though, that didn’t involve a plan to kill Anakin.
@@ahsokatano7225, let's be honest though, if Maul didn't pull that incredibly stupid move by saying he wanted to kill Anakin just to give Sidious the middle finger, you were all ready to join him. You said so yourself. Not that I blame you, but still.
I think Maul is a lot smarter then you give him credit for. And I think I have a better idea of what he planned on, based on what he told Ahsoka and his own Troops about thriving in the chaos to follow, it's clear what his plan was, after either killing Anakin or gaining a new apprentice he would retreat from Mandalore and hide out somewhere with his crime syndicate Crimson Dawn and have them gain power and resources until he felt he was ready to take on Sideous and the Empire. I also think he and Ahsoka together would actually stand a chance at beating Anakin, maybe a 40 percent chance of winning or 30 percent. Palpatine on the other head is another story altogether.
@@darthnerd4432 Well, considering how well Ahsoka did against Vader in Rebels and given how skilled Maul is as we saw in The Clone Wars, I'm pretty confident in saying they at least have a 30 to 40% chance of winning. It wouldn't be a squash match, now if the pair fought Palpatine then it would be a squash just like when Maul and Savage took him on.
ZexalBrony479 I agree, but why’re you guys acting like Anakin is Palpatine level? Maul can very well defeat Anakin, I’m confused as to why it’s not clear.
His best chance at killing sidious was when in the Son of Dathomir he had mother Talzin fighting Sidious but at that time sidious had Dooku and Grevious
"Anakin would have brought the whole planet down on him and beat him into jelly with his own legs" No. He would have brought the whole system down on him and beat him into particles with his own legs.
I'm willing to bet Ahsoka would be the only person, at least right after order 66, who would be able to turn Anakin back. Obi-Wan wasn't up to the task, couldn't talk Anakin out of it and couldn't even kill him.
My theory is that maul knew about Order 66. In the episode “the phantom apprentice” Ahsoka was lured in a trap by maul in the end and when Rex and some other clones came, maul said “not yet” and was a little bit disappointed.
Whoa whoa whoa, maul ran the underworld, save for the Hutt cartel, then became the leader of The Crimson Dawn for nearly 14 years. He may not have been emperor of the entire galaxy, but I'd hardly say that was a half baked failed scheme.
I dont think you give Maul enough credit. Yes he was an assassin, and being an assassin inherently requires a level of strategy. Individual strategy yes, but that can be expanded into group strategy through time and experience. In my opinion, Maul was Robert E Lee, and Sidious was Grant. Both were brilliant, but had far different priorities. Maul focused on the short term battles. Sidious the War. Maul wasn't a bad strategist, he simply was more suited to small group planning, to small goals. But small goals and victories can be built upon.
Actually Obi-Wan almost lost the fight, the famous last scene of the fight references how Obi-Wan "killed" Darth Maul on Naboo as Qui-Gonn's apprentice. The only reason Obi-Wan won that fight was because Anakin got very cocky and tried to use Obi-Wan's move against him, to which Obi-Wan immediately realized what he had to do.
I saw mauls attempt on mandalore as a mini version of palpy taking control of the galaxy. Now hear me out, maul corrupted the mandalore government by using 2 armies against each other like the clones vrs the driod army. Maul had the right idea but he was too scared to do anything against palpy until it was to late
Is there no possibility Maul wouldn’t have just gone to the Jedi and revealed Sidious? If he really wants him dead this seems like it would be the best way to do it, especially if he does so while Yoda is still on Coruscant.
Might he have thought the Jedi wouldn't actually believe him, and therefore not help him with Sidious? I mean, he didn't see the Jedi Council as being particularly fair and just. They oversaw a lot of the unnecessary status quo which had made his life so hard; EG nobody was out there saving slaves or small children from the monsters who acquired them. The Jedi set themselves up as the policemen of the galaxy and then consistently failed everyone whose face and locality didn't fit. I bet he'd have doubted their ability to either believe him, or to care.
The last one seems most likely. He knew sidious was on the verge of victory and that meant he was a dead man. Survival is his only instinct, but he would rather die than be captured by sidious.
Ahsoka: (glares) So this was your plan. You said you would stop when you kill Sidious. But you wanted to be the Emperor. Maul: (smirks) I lied. Ahsoka: Funny... I lied to. Maul: (confused) Wha-? (Blast) Maul: URK! (Maul falls to his knees and gasp at the gaping hole in his chest. He turns around and sees Rex with his blaster pistol drawn.) Maul: You... you can't do that. Your a Jedi. Ahsoka: (shakes head) I'm no Jedi. (Maul then falls to the ground dead.) Rex: So... what happens now? Ahsoka: Now? Now we deal with the empire.
I think that at first he was just an assassin but by the end of the clone wars he might have learned from his insanity, desperation and by watching his master then coming up with a good plan.
My vibe from Season Seven was that Darth Maul had Anakin's future vision on steroids and that Talzin cured the insanity caused by his exile, but not the insanity caused by these constant visions of an ever changing future. Also, if Maul isn't good at long-term planning, then why did the Shadow Collective survive past Solo until sometime before Rebels? The Shadow Collective was not only Mandalore, it was also Crimson Dawn, Black Sun, the Pykes, etc, and he maintained rule over those syndicates well into the Imperial era. Also, I'm pretty sure Darth Maul actually became the Sith Apprentice after Darth Plagueis died. Briefly, yes, but still.
The last theory is by far the best and most likely. In Rebels, Maul tries to do the same thing to Ezra and on Dathamere, he even hints at the idea of them becoming like brothers. When he said brother, he seems to reflect on the work, presumably thinking of Savage.
Look buddy I don’t think you understand that maul is way more powerful than you think Ashoka is weaker than Maul way weaker those are the words of Dave Filoni maul is the third best lightsaber duellist of the sith said by a canon book and yes if he did win he would but what you’re saying is absolute bull because you just said that maul always thought overconfidently so yes he would know exactly what to do if he won
Ashoka would kick mauls ass??? That fight maul was not right in the head and was holding back because he wanted to turn her he disarmed her and embarrassed her maul can beat kenobi sometimes Ashoka ain’t nowhere near kenobis level or mauls maul going try hard would kill Ashoka
@@anders8108 do you really blame him. ahsoka couldn't you have just sensed his feelings. bro also i have found out about an entire community of people pairing characters with ahsoak. im talking. luxoka, anisoka, obisoka, rexoka, korkiesoka, steelasoka, sawsoka, maulsoka, cadsoka, padmesoka, satinesoka, bokatansoka, bobasoka and grivousoka.
I actually agree that Maul probably just wanted Ahsoka to get to Anakin. It was shown all throughout the clone wars that Ahsoka was the kink in Anakin armor, and Maul knew this!! ❤️❤️❤️
Going along with the idea that Maul just wanted someone to be there with him as the galaxy fell, that means he wasn't ready to be a sith. A true sith relies on nobody but themself.
I thought Ben Kenobi killed Maul. I watched Rebels really infrequently. Did that happen after Ahsoka escaped from Vader and before Maul got offed in the sand dunes by Ben?
Maul was killed after Ahsoka and Darth Vader's duel. Maul's death happened at the end of season 3. As for Ahsoka being saved by Ezra from Darth Vader, happened in season 4. The World Between Worlds concept is very complicated because Dave Filoni said it's not considered time travel. This means that Ahsoka was saved by Ezra before Darth Maul died, but Ezra doesn't save Ahsoka until 2 years after her duel with Darth Vader which is why the whole concept is complicated. In other words, Ahsoka's duel with Vader is happening at the same time Ezra is saving her which is why it's called The World Between Worlds since it's a place where time and space are still.
Maul was one of the greatest lightsaber dualists in the galaxy 3rd to Anakin and palpatine but if he killed padme or Ashoka it would be over for him he would get destroyed he would destroy everything even killing Palpatine who maul feared maul maybe powerful but if he did that he would regret it
Ploy Ashoka as Maul's captive pull some torturey bits (nothing serious) to pull Anakin away from Palpatine and let the Windu fight go on without Anikin's intervention... I'd give it a 5-10% chance of working and maul wouldn't have the tactical and technical acumen to fulfill this alone and for all we know, this plan would only end in Sidious showing up and killing them both for trying to get involved. though Rex probably had a way to contact just Anakin if things went south.
Maul has always struck me as being much more of a 'normal' Sith or dark sider than Sidious was. Sidious, and to an extent Dooku, were successful in their plans in large part because they were so...well, Jedi-like. Self-disciplined, patient, cautious, hiding away the passions that power the Dark Side. Maul, on the other hand, seems the perfect example of how Yoda described the dark side: "Quicker, easier, more seductive". Especially when compared to Obi-wan. Maul peaked very early when he killed Qui-gonn, but his life after that saw the steady loss of his power. That's why his final duel with Obi-wan is my favourite lightsaber battle in all of Star Wars, because it shows perfectly how Obi-wan's power and wisdom had grown throughout his life, while Maul had only ever diminished.
Maul had was he wasnt as powerful as he though he was. It goes back to what Yoda said. [The Dark Side is] quicker, easier, more seductive... easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you it will as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice. Once a person turns to the dark side they get a quick boost and then their growth slows and stops. They are so arrogant that they can't really learn anything else very easily.
some aspects of this seem unfair. Maul is much more than a simple assassin especially when you compare him to other force wielders of his time. Maul defeats Qui Gon, a highly respected jedi master, then he duels Obi wan and survives several times--obi wan being one of the greatest duelists in lightsaber history. Then take asajj ventress and compare her to maul. She is constantly embarrassed by other force users and duelists alike. Maul takes the philosophy of the sith to extreme levels. What is arguably the siths main goal after ultimate power? immortality. and through his anger and then through his hate he was able to survive his wounds on naboo. his hate fuelled him through his escape from sideous and he was only able to die, only willing to die when hew realized that it would not be for him to take revenge on palpatine but instead Luke would, in his words, "avenge us all." For those reasons and especially his deference to the dark side and sith philosophy in my mind make Maul a true lord of the sith and even though he had his flaws, he was certainly one to be feared.
The thing with almec was maul had him in place to rule from the shadows. Maul did know how to manipulate. It's one of the things he was actually very good at. If he wasn't so focused on revenge he would have been much much more dangerous. As for his skill it seems like the lowered his power level when he fought Ashoka honestly.
Maul is certainly one of my favorite characters. I liked how this video was raw about his shortcomings, notably his limited capacity for long term planning and political maneuvering. At the end of the day, he did manage to run his own Crime Syndicates, though that seems to be the height of his long term organizational skills. If he had outlived Obiwan and Sidious, I could see him becoming a Crime Boss in the Outer Rim, maybe with a few systems under his control, toppling a Hutt or Two. Though he would no longer consider himself Sith, as he has dropped the Darth title by the time of Rebels, I could still see him taking a force sensitive apprentice under his wing. Though he would have come into conflict with the Luke’s Jedi Order and the New Republic. I would be curious to see a video like that, where Maul survived long enough to see the Death of Sidious and the Fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi.
Ure underestimate maul think maul. Maul one of the best dullest and pretty powerful when it comes to the force. U say he has 0 percent chance against ankin but if u put plot armor beside it's pretty evenly matched. When he lost to Ashoka he wasn't trying to kill her which him using the 7th lightsaber style which relighs on his anger and unpredictability.
Maul had already built the Crimson Dawn at this point, though I don't think it was named as such yet. I'm pretty sure the plan he wanted her help with, was whatever he was doing with Crimson Dawn.
He was trained as a Sith Assassin as a cover, for given the Rule of Two, Sidious had to keep Maul under cover from Plageuis, just like Dooku did by calling Ventress a Sith Assassin. Sidious originally planned for Maul to be his right hand man right into the Empire. Remember, he didn't know Anakin existed until The Phantom Menace. Ahsoka was also probably just trolling Maul like Kenobi and being arrogant. Maul would definiely stand a chance against Anakin.
.... that strongly depends on whether or not Maul has the high ground.... and if Anakin saw somebody he loved die. Remember, this wouldn't exactly be Anakin fighting, this would be Vader. Vader stomps Maul.
Ironic how a one dimensional character who was only given a couple lines then “died” in their first debut, turns into one of the series most beloved and deep characters
Your videos are pretty good, but I cannot lower the bass on my speakers and your voice is super low, so the bass hurts my ears. The video is still worth watching for me. I dont know what I wanted to achieve with this comment. Have a nice day, reader
if maul connected the syndicates that he previously puppetet and ruled uses the incredible might of the crime syndicates correct to take over the crumbeling seperatist and republic worlds and builds a formidable threat for the empire. I mean the separist army and systems didn´t just disappeared it was still out there without ruler full of fear. No Grievous that destroys the reputation no corrupt leaders with bounds to the empire (all beheaded by vader in one room) and eager to fight for their independence
sidious: maul is just an assasin he cant think of long term plans Maul: proceeds to train a very strong apprentice get multiple syndicates on his side and takes over the whole of madalore also as sidious hints at right before he engages in battle with maul and his apprentice that maul is possibly planning on becoming powerful enough to overthrow sidious and also wants to rob sidious of getting anakin skywalker screwing sidious is plan that has been plotted over many of years sidious:wait you werent supposed to do that and yes i know that his plans are short term in when to execute them but still its just funny is all XD he still did more than sidious thought he would
At first I definitely believed he was going to use Ahsoka to lure Anakin (and Obi-Wan) to Mandalore, if his plan to recruit her worked. But the thought of her being a replacement Savage made me sadder so I like that theory better 😔
If maul had killed anakin, Windu would have killed palpatine without anakin to interfere (though they might not have known he was a sith if anakin didn't tell them)
Maul is a true sith in canon. The whole assassin thing is pure legends. Dooku was the temporary sith while sidious waited for anikin. He says as much on a few occasions, and has no reason to lie.
Yea interesting but im courious what could have happend If Ahsoka would have never left the temple. My bet she either was the last push Anakin needed not to stray to the darkside or on the flipside she would have been corrupted by Anakin already beliving the Jedi are corrupt and also would have become the Grand Inquisitor in stead of that Pau'an.
Google bing or use any search engine to see that darth maul was in fact a Sith lord and trained as one but was only meant to been trained as an assassin, that's what sidious's master was led to believe, but in fact was being train as a real sith lord and was even granted the title of darth. I'm not even finishing the video just because 1 minute in and you're already wrong
@@GeneralGrievous-1138 Maul acts like he is a sith lord and Sidious tells Vader in the comics that Maul was a genuine loss while Dooku was always meant to be a placeholder. Maul was to be Sidious' apprentice.
I had the same problem with the video now people are trying to claim maul isn't a sith even when sidious himself stated he was and was used a secret apprentice to help him overthrow plagieus but when maul died he had to resort to killing plagieus in his sleep because maul was considered by sidious to be his future successor
*Ventress* acts more like a Sith Lord than Maul does. Maul had no sense of strategy, no vision whatsoever, no knowledge of any of the life-bending arts that made the Sith the Sith. Having a red saber isn't all it takes to be a Sith Lord. He was an assassin, nothing more. Sidious told Vader that Maul was a genuine loss because Vader hated Dooku, and he wanted to downplay Dooku's role. The novel Darth Plagueis shows what was really going on. The Sith had their eye on Dooku *before Maul was even born* - Plagueis actually considered Dooku for apprenticeship before settling on Sidious, and Sidious had always planned on turning Dooku to be his first apprentice. Dooku was still a placeholder, yes, but Dooku was at least trained to be a proper Sith Lord, which Maul wasn't. Sidious killed Plagueis in his sleep around the same time that Maul died - in fact, when he felt Maul's defeat he was spooked for a moment because he thought it was Plagueis' spirit coming back for more, which completely disproves the claim of Maul having been some sort of tool to kill Plagueis. Sidious had no idea Maul was gonna get rekt when he set out to kill his master. And finally, look at it through the scheme of the Sith Grand Plan. From the very beginning, before the events of the Prequels even started to unfold, the plan was pretty well laid-out: manipulate the TF into a blockade that would propel Palpatine to the Supreme Chancellory, use the fallout to radicalize the megacorporations to form the CIS, use the Clone Wars to destroy the Jedi, transform the Republic into an Empire. Maul doesn't fit into this plan at all. Sidious' apprentice needed to run the CIS, and Maul was completely incapable of doing that. Not only did he need someone else doing everything for him just to run one planet, but he also never would've been able to gather half the galaxy to him between his appearance and his total lack of persuasiveness. Sidious knew this. Maul simply wouldn'tve worked. If he escaped Naboo, he would've outlived his usefulness, and Sidious even states in one of the Legends novels that, had he survived, he would've had to be killed.
I only think of mauls outburst of his new state of mind is because of grief savages death and to show us how he is slowly starting to become rebels maul as its obvious he's starting to go insane
Darth Maul was a sith Lord For about ten seconds before obi wan chopped him in half and that was the ripple in the force that he thought was plageuis's conscience coming back to haunt him
I’m a Maul fan, I agree with your video and there’s to many maul fanboys defending him here. Maul is an awesome and interesting character very unique but he is short sighted and almost child like in his goals and how he handles situations. If I remember correctly in the Darth Plagueis book darth maul fails a mission by being beaten by a bounty hunter or something like that in his arrogance of showing of how hard he is which he doesn’t learn from hence the cutting in half by obi wan and in another mission or the same one I can’t remember he tells someone his about to assassinate all of darth Sidious and plagueis plans for the clone wars. He is just like a teenager showing of or taking something when something was took from him. He is not skilled in the big scheme of things and to eager for revenge he try’s to take Sidious’s approach but again his impatience and eager to show of that he is an apparent Sith Lord. Again he is still one of my favourite characters in Star Wars
when did Maul lose to a bounty hunter in the Plaguies novel? I remember him taking on a bunch of bounty hunters and gangs with no lightsaber in comics.

Exucute order 66
I couldn't agree more maul was capable of killing anikin an with ahsoka anikin would get smoked
@@g.0.0 yeah because just like the other time i believe i recall him fighting a darth ashoka like ashoka
he was hesitating as he didnt want to kill his own apprentice so if maul did manage to get her fully on his side anakin would have low chances of getting through it aslong as its just anakin and not obi wan with him they could probably take him out hes holding back with ashoka and ashoka is going possibly full force along with maul going full force overwhelming him with a double bladed lightsaber user and a dual wielder both at once attacking him constantly im not saying anakin cant win but....
Ahsoka: Okay yeah I'll help you save the galaxy
Maul: First we need to kill anak-
Ahsoka: Haha lightsaber go woooosh

What I never understood is if Maul knew that Ahsoka was Anakin's apprentice from his interrogation with Jesse, then why did he think it was a good idea to tell Ahsoka that he planned to kill Anakin. Clearly, she wouldn't side with him if she knew it would lead to Anakin's death.
He decided to troll
Desperation. He be really desperate
1) He probably assumed they weren't close, since she left the order.
Maul "lost" the duel with Ahsoka because he was never trying to kill her. Ahsoka was only able to gain the upper hand in the duel once she exploited his fatal flaw, his arrogance.
Exactly. The entire time he didn’t want to kill her.
Infinite Donuts He won the duel
End of discussion
Well, she wasn't trying to kill him either
@@ARC--Fives, yes but she was trying to disarm him which is what he did first.
Basically what obi wan did to anakin

I find maul a very sympathetic villain. He had a sick twisted childhood and sidious pretty much indoctrinated him into hating everything. He get’s thrown aside and goes insane out of hatred
When Ahsoka agrees to help Maul, I feel she would've tried to convince Maul to go to the Jedi Council before taking on Sidious. But alas, when asked the question of what he wants with Anakin Skywalker, Maul is brutally honest and Ahsoka immediately sees Maul as a threat, not an ally.
Precisely what I was thinking.
Showing this comment to Maul to cheer him up "see.. youre not an utter failure!"
I think he wanted another Savage O'Press but more like as a sister.
Yeah, he'd just lost his family (mother and brother) he saw her as a moral outcast from her order. I think he honestly hoped for a friend.

I really dont think they could beat Anakin.
1/10 at best
@@darthnerd4432 Well, considering how well Ahsoka did against Vader in Rebels and given how skilled Maul is as we saw in The Clone Wars, I'm pretty confident in saying they at least have a 30 to 40% chance of winning. It wouldn't be a squash match, now if the pair fought Palpatine then it would be a squash just like when Maul and Savage took him on.
I don’t think maul would have won, not even close, but this dude constantly shits on maul
ZexalBrony479 I agree, but why’re you guys acting like Anakin is Palpatine level? Maul can very well defeat Anakin, I’m confused as to why it’s not clear.
Darth Nerd I guess you guys just love Anakin, bc if we look at feats and stats, Mail can defeat Anakin, he’s no weaker than Dooku.
maul is quite a gentlemen when it comes to truces so I think he was being wholehearted
dooku is a gentleman when it comes to anything other than kicking people's butts
His best chance at killing sidious was when in the Son of Dathomir he had mother Talzin fighting Sidious but at that time sidious had Dooku and Grevious
Such a shame. What’s interesting to me is how he was fully prepared to sacrifice himself so Mother Talzin could win
"Anakin would have brought the whole planet down on him and beat him into jelly with his own legs"
No.
He would have brought the whole system down on him and beat him into particles with his own legs.
But syke! Anakin has just lost his arms AND legs. Without sidious, he may have just begged Maul for his legs
Retribution in bf2 was basically this before it was nerfed
more likely he would have beaten Maul to death WITH THE PLANET.
Hello there.
General Kenobi!
Your a bold one
Heh heh heh kill him.
General Kenobi
your move
I dont think you give Maul enough credit. Yes he was an assassin, and being an assassin inherently requires a level of strategy. Individual strategy yes, but that can be expanded into group strategy through time and experience. In my opinion, Maul was Robert E Lee, and Sidious was Grant. Both were brilliant, but had far different priorities. Maul focused on the short term battles. Sidious the War. Maul wasn't a bad strategist, he simply was more suited to small group planning, to small goals. But small goals and victories can be built upon.
To quote 99, "you don't give him enough credit." Maul definitely couldn't have got in the way of palps' plans, but I think he's smarter than you say.
Yea now that I watched this video I can see why Maul was dumber than I thought
Not dumb per se, he still achieved many things, just short sighted and a one track mind at times.
He wasn’t dumb he was blinded by all consuming hatred
I honestly just think he wanted someone by his side. He tried the same thing with Ezra in Rebels. It's heartbreaking. The poor guy needs a hug
I think Maul could take Anakin, Anakin at his best still fell to Obi Wan.
If maul had lured Anakin mace would have killed Palpatine and Anakin would kick maul’s ass
Yep
nope are u dumb? Maul would have led a trap
not too sure about that
Nah Maul would of led a trap. Maul is way smarter than you think.
I hope they rewrite his death because man, if he and Thrawn were the sequel trilogy villains, Disney would be swimming in gold.
Maul was a warrior first and Mastermind second. He was intelligent but not on the same level as Palpatine.
The last one seems most likely. He knew sidious was on the verge of victory and that meant he was a dead man. Survival is his only instinct, but he would rather die than be captured by sidious.
"-turn her to the dark side-" ..... That's *ship* talk.
...I...I beg your pardon...?
Maul and Ahsoka as a team, I gotta believe would give Palps and Vader a challenge and run for their money power wise in a fight
Ahsoka: (glares) So this was your plan. You said you would stop when you kill Sidious. But you wanted to be the Emperor.
Maul: (smirks) I lied.
Ahsoka: Funny... I lied to.
Maul: (confused) Wha-?
(Blast)
Maul: URK!
(Maul falls to his knees and gasp at the gaping hole in his chest. He turns around and sees Rex with his blaster pistol drawn.)
Maul: You... you can't do that. Your a Jedi.
Ahsoka: (shakes head) I'm no Jedi.
(Maul then falls to the ground dead.)
Rex: So... what happens now?
Ahsoka: Now? Now we deal with the empire.
Maul would kill both Ahsoka and Rex
@@OkIPullUp2915 Yeah. I like Geestly, but the fact that he thinks TCW Ahsoka > Maul is hilarious.
It’s confirmed in rebels of how he feels and I like his ending, content and just I believe
Plot twist, he did all this trouble just to ask out Ahsoka.

I felt kinda bad for how Ahsoka treated Maul, even tho she had every right to treat him that way
Ashoka would kick mauls ass??? That fight maul was not right in the head and was holding back because he wanted to turn her he disarmed her and embarrassed her maul can beat kenobi sometimes Ashoka ain’t nowhere near kenobis level or mauls maul going try hard would kill Ashoka

Maul is the best character. Nobody can convince me otherwise.
Going along with the idea that Maul just wanted someone to be there with him as the galaxy fell, that means he wasn't ready to be a sith. A true sith relies on nobody but themself.
Poor maul and his sucky plans
I think it was a mix of having a friend and wanting to kill Sidious, but mostly the friend part

The clone wars show is a thousand times better than the sequel movies with deep character development and a lot more detail
Do you think Jedi could use a Jedi mind trick to stop clones during order 66?

He would turn mail into jelly with his own droid legs. I spit my coffee out lmao thank you
I could imagined if Ahsoka join Maul will be the one who comes up with the plans and Ahsoka tries to smooth out his plans to be more functional.
I could see that. Maul coming up with the general idea then Ahsoka refining it
I thought Ben Kenobi killed Maul.
@@ahsoka5216 Sounds like I missed quite an interesting storyline. I'll try to watch the corresponding episode some time. Thanks for explaining.
@@Rahhelthethird No problem!
They are so arrogant that they can't really learn anything else very easily.
that last one just made me super sad. Maul just wanted friendship ;-;
some aspects of this seem unfair. What is arguably the siths main goal after ultimate power? immortality. and through his anger and then through his hate he was able to survive his wounds on naboo. his hate fuelled him through his escape from sideous and he was only able to die, only willing to die when hew realized that it would not be for him to take revenge on palpatine but instead Luke would, in his words, "avenge us all." For those reasons and especially his deference to the dark side and sith philosophy in my mind make Maul a true lord of the sith and even though he had his flaws, he was certainly one to be feared.
maul is a very sad character that you feel bad for.
This legends back story you give. I disagree very much. Canon has even fully embraced the fact that Maul was Palpatines true apprentice
I feel that if Ahsoka and mail joined forces.... they would become grey Jedi.... light and dark together

if maul connected the syndicates that he previously puppetet and ruled uses the incredible might of the crime syndicates correct to take over the crumbeling seperatist and republic worlds and builds a formidable threat for the empire. I mean the separist army and systems didn´t just disappeared it was still out there without ruler full of fear. No Grievous that destroys the reputation no corrupt leaders with bounds to the empire (all beheaded by vader in one room) and eager to fight for their independence
sidious: maul is just an assasin he cant think of long term plans
Maul: proceeds to train a very strong apprentice get multiple syndicates on his side and takes over the whole of madalore also as sidious hints at right before he engages in battle with maul and his apprentice that maul is possibly planning on becoming powerful enough to overthrow sidious and also wants to rob sidious of getting anakin skywalker screwing sidious is plan that has been plotted over many of years

Damn, I really feel bad for maul. Even tho I agree with what you said, I still have the feeling you did him really dirty.
The real question is "What was Dave thinking? What were Daves plans for Maul?"
Ooh! Inquisitor Ahsoka seems quite interesting!
Abominatus Nowhere is that actually stated, and nowhere does Maul or Sidious ever act like that's the case.
Can you make a video like saying what if Savage and Maul actually took down Sidious and what would happen
What episode is that at 0:15 ??? Please someone help I can’t find it anywhere lol
It’s from an intro of the clone wars don’t know what episode
I only think of mauls outburst of his new state of mind is because of grief savages death and to show us how he is slowly starting to become rebels maul as its obvious he's starting to go insane
Darth Maul was a sith Lord
For about ten seconds before obi wan chopped him in half and that was the ripple in the force that he thought was plageuis's conscience coming back to haunt him
Rip darth mauls baby makers, now I see why he hated Kenobi
That actually makes sense
