I’ve done the abandoned cart hack with out even realizing it lol. These tips only work if you were already gonna spend the money, u said this already but that is really important.
Saving has actually become one of my higher priorities since I would like to buy a house in the future but I've been putting more money toward investing rather than saving. Great video!
Thank you!! Saving money where you can so that you can invest more is how you can build wealth over the long-term! It's not always about making more money. If you can save/keep more money at the end of the month, you can use the difference to invest more.
All good points. I do about 8/10 of your suggestions and it's working well. Some more to look into thought...thanks. If I had my wife mow the lawn at 9 months, her family and friends would likely disown me...probably some of my own family too. At least you got her some chocolate.
I would really like to hear about the business card hack you were talking about! Expanding about what is due in taxes quarterly and how your side hustle (business) can help with taxes.
Even if you pay before the due, Credit Card has an Annual cost, it also incur a surcharge when you use it not to mention the addiction of swiping to pay for stuff, finally, Banks is not in to giveaway business. So if you think you’re getting ahead, you’re just kidding yourself.
kudos to your wife! she's a trooper 👍🏼i switched from at&t paying around 140-ish a month to Mint paying 120 every 3 months. I traveled out of the country too and no issue, bought the international pass and all was good, switching to Mint has been the best. Great video! I enjoy your content.
I like to safe money going to the Farmer's market and pickle half of the vegetables in Mason's jars. Also cutting/freezing the vegetables in Pyrex containers is another option. Great video Jake, Thank you!
ohhh yeah freezing food can be such a great hack! I now buy my bread and freeze half of it so I don't waste it! I never thought freezing bread would work so well... Also works with bagels etc.
Man, I thought I was frugal enough. I need to brush up on some of these life hacks! We do the sign up bonuses and was able to pay for the flights, hotel, car rental all with points. We also just received our first few dividends and just reinvested it back yesterdays Red Day Monday and got some bargains!
Chicken rice and broccoli is delicious. I have done the gift card thing especially around holiday time when you can get the card at a discount and can get a $25 gift card if you purchase $100 gift card. And yes the little maintenance thing like changing air filters is huge if you know. And take a damn Zyrtec.
Your 10th method reminds me of something a wise man once said: "Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food, I can drive a taxi, I can - and do - cut my own hair. I did, however, tip my urologist. Because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones."
@DividendGrowthInvesting glad to see that, it was hard for me not to toss a heavy dividend in there for my boys. They have plenty of time to grow, I have VOO, QQQM and SCHG for their accounts.
@@DividendGrowthInvesting it doesnt exist, eccept if you are living off « social help, it’s called RSA » or if you are an illegal migrant But if you are a normal people then you still have to pay for the room at the hospital, pay for medication, pay for vaccines, it’s NOT free and NOT universal….
I feel ya. I am actually older than you and only started last year. If I had started investing aggressively when I was 53, I would be in a MUCH better position right now. Don't lose hope; just keep plugging away!!! 😊
I agree with the most of your ways to save money, but I can't believe you made your wife mow the lawn while she was pregnant. My favorite is paying estimated taxes with a credit card. Absolutely genius! Can you do a video on this before I have to pay my estimated taxes on September 15 lol. No kidding aside. I use my credit card to pay my yearly car and homeowners insurance in full.
LOL...an ad came up between your second and third approach. The ad was for saving 25% off PODS. If a person puts all their unnecessary "junk" (e.g., boxes of tools, fishing poles, golf clubs, an annoying relative, etc.) in one of those PODS, then that person could save money or use the same space for something that brings in money. Frugal J
@@DividendGrowthInvesting You know what's crazy, Jake? I recycle cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles to buy shares of dividend ETFs. At 5 cents a piece, it isn't much....until your neighbors, co-workers, and friends start giving you their recyclables. Think about this, 20 pieces = $1 or about 1.25% of a share of SCHD. If you bring in $2 a day for 1 year, then that's $730 for that year. That's more than 10 shares of DGRO (or SPLG, if you like the S&P 500; or JEPI, if you seek income) that you didn't have to buy. Of course, there's some labor involved when redeeming recycables...but if you are receiving recyclables (meaning you are not spending money on beverages as well as time to gather the recyclables), then ending up with a share of DGRO or JEPI or SPLG every 5 weeks or so isn't so bad. Frugal J
Tried to switch to Mint from T-Mobile but the tel# port failed. Also, when in T-Mobile proper in crowded areas, you’ll be prioritized over a provider like Mint. I won’t switch for these reasons, it doesn’t work.
Lemme see if I have this right... 1. get a wife 2. get wife pregnant 3. fire the lawn service 4. have wife mow the lawn 5. pay alimony, child support, and lawn service Is that about right?
Hi Jake. I am in mid 7 figure land and building my holdings in the 2 etfs you suggest., I still think it is too expensive to buy a house here in Scottsdale, AZ. I am stuck in my lease til mid january($2100 for a 1 bd room). I have seen some houses in Austin for around 300k that I would not mind living in. Is there a zip code you would suggest in Austin to look in? Thanks.
The simple path to wealth!! Austin has a lot to offer for every person. If you are single, you want to live closer to the city. If you have a family, you want to live in a nice school district area. I'm assuming you are single.. I would suggest somewhere by Zilker park, South Lamar, or up by the domain in North Austin if you work up there. If you could afford it, I would suggest looking at 78703. If you go into an office, make sure you live
@@DividendGrowthInvesting If you were a realtor I would definitely work with you. I had a 1 on 1 meeting with you earlier on in the year. You said in your opinion, I could retire. I am locked into a lease on my apt in Scottsdale till January.
The tldr of this video is to get a wife to mow your lawn. 😂 But seriously though, I've done most of these things all of my life. I also liked to stack savings in several ways. Back when Walmart gift cards gave discounts at the Murphy's pumps, I'd buy discounted cards online, pay with a rewards credit card and stack the savings. I was getting 10-15% discounts on gas. I also used to coupon shop a lot at drug stores with reward points. I had it down to a science at one point where I was getting free items like toothpaste, shampoo, detergent from CVS and Walgreens. It's amazing what you can do.

Hey! lol yeah my wife is a good sport! We loved visiting Panama. We are going back again in January! We decided we couldn't live there full time, but rather visit in the winter time. Well when it comes to your Roth IRA, in my opinion I see 3 options. 1. Keep 100% in VTSAX and then sell it once you fully retire and buy high dividend ETFs (e.g. 50% SCHD/20% DGRO/30% JEPI/JEPQ) 2. Allocate 100% to SCHD/DGRO/JEPI/JEPQ today and dollar cost average and reinvest the dividends until you plan to live off the income in retirement 3. Do a combination/hybrid of both 1 and 2.
