Tigh’s reaction to the reveal is still my favorite. I found the same model of hip flask he carried and got it laser etched with his “that’s the man I want to be” quote.

This is so beautifully said. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. “Battlestar Galactica,” remains one of my favorite shows and one that I believe holds up against the test of time. Cheers to you all for your hard work in crafting this masterpiece.

The observation about Hogan vis-a-vis Tigh seems absolutely spot-on. The disdain the actor felt about the decision couldn't help but be magnified by how he portrayed the character's reaction. I'd like to believe the choice was intentional on the part of the showrunners for that exact anticipated outcome, but that's probably pretty unlikely.

BSG reboot.....the best docu-drama ever! Well written stories, well developed characters, characters portrayed in a way that made us want to know more about them, the music......just the best docu-drama ever.

BSG was the best sci-fi show that has been on TV. I don't say that lightly either. Story lines, characters, music and of course the actors. I watch the entire series annually.

Couldnt agree more mate. The only thing came close to that was The Expanse. Dark characters, exploring the flaws of humanity, grounded fight scenes, etc... But BSG will always be my favourite. Rewatching it every year since release.

Thank you, this is very insightful. I’ve been watching the original series to see what story lines tie and what was reimagined. For example, in the original series Apollo’s brother was killed when the Cylon’s attacked the colonies, he was flying in formation with Apollo. There was an episode where they met up with the Pegasus. They even said Frak! When Ronald Moore was producing Deep Space 9 he got to explore religion and politics and I think the reboot of BSG is the perfect blend of those two series.

When I saw Ellen Tigh wake up in the soup because she was a cylon, I about fainted. The question that like me and has for 15 years… What in the heck was Starbuck? how did she just vanish at the end? Somebody please enlighten me.

@TaskForceCP, It's too much feldergarb to go in to what Starbuck's original nature was. However, I think it's safe to say that her reincarnated form was an angel sent by the one true God to lead both humanity and the enlightened Cylons to their ultimate blended destiny. Once her task was fulfilled, she had no reason to remain amongst the living and so went poof, back to the metaphysical ether.

I watched the entire BG series during the Great Recession. It helped me pass time of almost 6 years of unemployment. Unfortunately, anything I watched during that time of immense stress and depression was not fully absorbed. I have found that I can’t remember anything that I watched during that time. So… I look forward to watching it all again someday except that it’s in a platform that I don’t pay for.
Also, I don’t remember anything about a final five cyborgs….

This is the thing I've never understood about US show writers, that they never know how their shows are going to end.
When I create a question when writing, I can't move on until I've answered it. It's like an equation. I can't sit there with half of it. It's incomplete.
Me? I'd have known who the final five were as soon as I'd come up with the idea. I'd know who and why.

    Beautiful post. Truly beautiful.
"Michael Hogan was so angry..." and so was I.
Waited to hear how he felt, all these years. I somehow knew he'd say that.
I loved that show so much. But I always hated that "Final Five" arc. Islanded in a sea of craptastic. Low tide. Not butter, and not even margarine. Sub-freakin-optimal.
Until that point, the show was elite. Even through the 1st half of S4, there was hope from a wounded series.
But I reject from canon anything after the end of Gaeta. And I blacked out the finale, for my own well-being. (Just as countless others did "The Iron Throne.")
With that said, belated congratulations on your exquisite work as Starbuck! I was extremely skeptical going in. But you created a unique, compelling, unforeseen take on that character... which rocked that decade and more. S3 "Unfinished Business" was a particular favorite.

That's when I was disappointed and he was the main reason I done everything else the looks space battles were great even Starbuck hooks her viper with doable viper really happened in Korea and Vietnam but no way common sense buys this story line

"We didn't know when we first started the show that there was this thing called Final Five"
I'm sure the writers didn't either and that's one of the few cons of BSG: after a while you could tell they're making things up as they go. They should have learned from J Michael Straczynski and his way of writing Babylon 5: plan the whole story from beginning to end before you even shoot the pilot episode.

Indeed. The fact that Tory was one of the Final Five despite not having been there at the beginning and just apparently having materialized from elsewhere in the fleet after Billy's death made it all the more ridiculous. Samuel, who also wasn't a character from the outset, was a little more believable.
