The AVP and AVP-R costumes were virtually identical except for the heads and neck. This was down to money. Same reason AVP reuses the Alien Resurrection suits with new paint instead of getting new, more giger-accurate designs like Anderson wanted.
Not true, they simply used the same designs because they were preferred. The making of featurettes for AVP shows them making new Xenomorph suits animatronics from scratch while still keeping the Resurrection design outside of a few changes. If they had the money to make brand suits and improved animatronics, then they easily had the money to just create a different design, they just chose not to.
I have this and I hate avpr the movie but I love the creature designs for it. I also have the predalien. Wish they'd given the predalien as much articulation
Yeah, NECA has teased that wave 7 may be a full Xeno wave. The parts they had on the AvP display at SDCC ad both AvP and AvP:R Xenos. They haven't outright stated it, but I think there are rumors going around that they might also just throw in the "Grid Alien" that was damaged by the Predator net in AvP. Since it would just be a simple repaint of a generic AvP warrior. I think the easiest way to tell the difference is the head from AvP to AvP:R. The AvP Xenos had a sort of smoother head dome like Big Chap, and didn't have the ribbed/spiky dome like the Aliens/AvP:R Xenos. It also has some more exaggerated proportions than other warriors. I think the hip spikes were larger, the abdomen seemed even thinner, and then the head thing. You must not have the Monstearts AvP Alien warrior, but if you look at pics you can kind of see what they did there (though, I think Bandai's AvP warrior is a little too exaggerated in some respects. The AvP warrior just always kind of reminded me of a somewhat different colored Resurrection warrior. I mean, the Resurrection warriors were really stylized on their own, but until I actually rewatched the movies recently, I actually thought the Resurrection/AvP warriors were almost identical.
I just wanna find out where to buy this one,,,, amazon and ebay's price are crazy at about 70 or 80 dollars... but all other alien figures are lower 30 dollar...
Resurrection, AVP, and AVP:R are all the same general suit design. This is primarily a cost saving measure. With AVP they took Resurrection suits/toolings and simply painted them "jet black." With AVPR they did a new head and neck piece. Either way, not what most AVP fans would have wanted. They would have much preferred to see a classic Predator take on classic looking aliens.
I have this figure too. The problem I have is that the design is pretty bad. While the figure looks a bit better than the suit in the movie, it's too fleshy and it just lack biomechanical details (the 'biomechanical' elements on this one are far more organic than mechanic).
The Xenomorph or the Alien have no gender in the movies the call the egg laying xeno the queen because the associated it with a bee hive. So they are not really a boy or GIRL.
Still waiting for the AVPR figures

hope they re release them with the new articulation as the ones from avp
I really like callin' 'em Space Monkeys.
Those new AVP-R figures should be dropping any day now.. 😅✌️
Well at least we got.....Bon Jovi?
If you removed the dome from the standard AVP alien warrior figure, do you think it would look anything like this one?
No probebly not. The avp aliens head looks different under the dome in the movie.
If NECA makes new AVPR xeno warrior figures using a similar head sculpt (at least similar). Then I say take my money
AvPr could have been the BOMB if they were fully posable like the others.
version
they showed a new AvPR alien head in the display of the predators along with the AvP Aliens
Good review.. The difference shows when compared to the Genocide Xenomorph.. It must be about time that NECA updates Wolf!
I have him too. I still like him.

I have 3 of these and they are awesome
Studio adi was the company name
I'm getting the the first avp's warrior that's either out or not.
I just wanna find out where to buy this one,,,, amazon and ebay's price are crazy at about 70 or 80 dollars... but all other alien figures are lower 30 dollar...
Pueden ablar español
Just like the wolf predator this figure was good when it was made.
the costume difference is just a new head for avpr
I watched AVPR today. And although the Movie was kinda OK. I loved the predalien. The aliens were really cool
Absolutely hated the AVP R designs
I just imagine they're different because the came from the predalien
Dragonlord 885 they're warriors
Barney Isadinosaur they're almost identical to every other xenomorph.
+SamuRaptor No they're not.

My alien is the same one but the tail is pointy

i kinda like this figure idk something about it speaks to me but would never get it lol great review lol
I like the movie but the figure suck the worst
Outside the box review reply to this comment or I'll eat a potato
mudkip army how was that potato?
i ve always found that base very ugly, stupid and absolutely pointless.. by the way the figure is great
That alien is a gril because aliens that have the tenders on their back are grils and the dog alien is boy because it has no tenders on its back

The Queen is the only xenomorph with a gender.
