I was born in the early 60s and I remember this well. Your videos opening picture of the 70 with the pattern and color for some reason reminded me of Grace Slick and Janis Joplin, the psychedelic age. Bell bottoms were the norm then and everything seemed normal to me. Wish I could go back in time. Very cute baby pictures. Thanks for the video.
I was 17 in 1973. We shopped in army surplus and second hand stores. We sewed. The Vietnam war had just ended so military surplus women’s uniforms were everywhere. It was a more creative time.
I wish I could find some of those shoes today! I was too young in the 70's to wear some of those high platform shoes and sandals, but would love to rock them today!
So much fun! I wear tons of seventies vintage, but not costumey. Some of my favorite things are my big fur collar leather trench along with my Russian fur hat. Love those times and wish I could go back.
1970’s fashion has always fascinated me. A lot of it would be considered “bad”, but I like it BECAUSE it’s bad. It’s bad, but charming and oddly comforting. I like the idea behind it. I’ve seen pictures of what my grandparents wore back then, and they basically dressed like they were going to play golf all the time (which they did 😅); grandma usually wore plaid pants/skirts with these bulky wedge loafers and a blouse with a sweater tied around her shoulders. Grandpa wore either plaid or plain trousers with a sweater vest. They’d be considered “preppy” in that era.
Thanks Yvonne! Man, I had a couple of those myself. I remember my first pair of platform shoes and I thought I was really something with those - and my ruffled socks I wore with them! Haha!!
Oh yes, I’d forgotten those. I had one with the long white socks etc. I used to wear it when I was pushing the pram trying to get a baby to sleep 🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Only thing i liked about the 70's was the cars :) God i remember wearing flared pants and shoes just as big as the girls high heals 60's was better. You was a wee cutie as a baby Thankyou for sharing Sarah
I remember so many of these. We thought we looked really good didn’t we. I could see my kids as small children in these, thanks 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️👵👵👵👵🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I think the 70s was the "BEST" Decade "EVER" I got to live through them when it came to Fashion, every guy sported sideburns like Elvis I "LOVED" the "Flared Bell Bottom Jeans and dress pants"
I graduated high school in 1973. I used to spend hours looking at the catalogs at Christmastime, though we truly didn't buy much from catalogs. I never liked clothes as wild looking as these (or any of the psychedelic stuff, for that matter). I wore jeans but have never really liked them, lol. I did love driving my beater car to K-Mart, my favorite store back then, where I could buy a lot from my part-time job. I loved sweaters and nice fitting knits. (I was thinking Jacqueline Smith, but I see that didn't happen until the mid 80s. That was more me and as a matter of fact, I liked that decade a whole lot better than the 70s anyway. I never identified with the hippy-dippy new age creepiness). At K-Mart, you could lay clothes away and buy Christmas presents for everybody in the family. I can remember owning one pair of platform shoes in my teens and durn near fell. I tossed them. My grandma was heavy into sewing double knits back then and made my little sister and I several jumpers that matched. I'll have to say that I have very good family memories from back then for sure. So many more relatives were alive and kicking.
Lol ! I remember the Bell bottens or as they are pretty much called now days flared legs. Some of the Fashions I remember but for the most part my Mother sewed our Clothes. Partly because with 7 Children you just really couldn't afford to just go shopping. Another thing to is the Era of course an the small town I grew up in really didn't carry Jr plus sizes as 2 of my Sisters were Chubby an me well I was tall an very skinny sz 0 to sz 3 from Jr High school all the way through my High School Years it was,if I could find them to fit ( very rare) at the waist they were to short in the legs so I was able to get 2 pairs of Pants well Mom crocheted on the bottem to make them fit in the length. The rest of my clothes my Mother sewed on her Old Singer Treadel Sewing machine. Which is what I learned to sew on. No short shorts no short skirts or dresses, Dad didn't like them. By the late 70's I was raising my 1st child. Lol ! I was young but older. Thanks for the Memories down Fashon lane.
@@HistoryHappens I can tell you what I was wearing in the late 70s and what I still wear. The shiny, silky polyester/nylon shirts tucked into a long pair of black dress slacks.

You’re welcome! And thanks for watching! Yes, that decade certainly had its issues too but seems far more simple (in good way) than these days.
I Rember all that well Sir.

I cannot believe I didn't break an ankle, wearing those ridiculous platforms.
Thank you for watching Virginia!
The decade that taste forgot. Period.
One thing I associate with the decade was males having hair over their ears.
No doubt about it. Worst decade for fashion ever.
