    Great video, very useful and practical advice on how to remove condensation from a MK4 Mondeo headlamp and reduce risk of it happening again. Much appreciated.

      I think drilling a hole in the front bottom corner is the way forward if all else fails

    Thanks for the helpful video, I take it there’s nothing I can do about the water spots on the inside of the lens after its dried?

      bit of cloth on a net curtain wire feed it through the holes and clean the inside that way.

      @@Mids1970 thanks for the response, I have Xenons and I don’t seem to have any room to do this technique because of the large projector housing.

    Very helpful, I'll have to do this on my headlight and the fog light underneath it. Why does it seem to only affect the driver's side?

    I had a similar issue in my ford focus mk3. I took it out I dried and use a sealant around the edge as you did. There was an improvement but few days later after a cold night condensation back again.I finally bought a new one.The problem is I had the same issue with another one and wonder what else i can do -drill a hole? One thing I haven't done is to use a tape to seal the connector plug maybe the water get in there? I will try once again with the other lamp and wait for the results.

      If it's a massive build up drill a 10mm hole underneath at the point of the lamp helps the water drain out.

    Hello all,I have same problem on my 2009 X5 e70 drivers side,I drilled 2 small holes in side of casing,it’s not as easy to get headlight out of mine as this videos light unit,I’m thinking of getting a can of compressed air,the sort people use to blow off computer keyboards,see if that works,I got rid of condensation using hairdryer on outside of lens,as soon as it all cooled down condensation reappeared!!!,going to try air in a can today.

    Hey, the same crap happens to my Mk4, but only in nearside lamp. what could be the reason? i removed it, dried it out and boom 2 weels later the same story again? what's going on? the other lamp is crystal clear so i don't think its the weather as such. I looked very closely at it and couldnt see any gaps whatsoever through which water could get through, the cap and the plug dont look too bad either

      try drilling a 10mm hole in the under side front point of the headlamp in the plastic to let water drain out ive done this when all else fails

      Does yours have a sunroof? If it does check the drainage holes they’ll be blocked. I used a compressor to block all the junk out of drains and it fixed it

      Just in case this is still an issue or for anyone else who might have the same problem, I had this on the ford focus at the rear. Water was leaking in round the rear lights and pretty much anywhere there was a bolt. The water filled the spare wheel recess and under braking the water slopped forward and ran into the footwells. The solution was to put silicone sealant round every seam and bolt round the back. I'd check if the door seals are peeling off as well.

    The problem its not the edge of the headlight, its the gasket from back cap. Put some silicone or rtv on that gasket and close the headlight, problem solved.

    Or u could just unclip the plastic clips on the headlight to take the see through plastic off and clean it that way

    • @lucianc.5677
      @lucianc.5677 2 роки тому +1

      Is not just an unclip the plastic job and separate the clear lenses from the hesdlight body. I've done this and you have to use a hot air gund and work your way around the sealed edge to melt the original adhesive which is quite strong. Also you have to be very careful when prising off the two as this can crack and can make the job worse than it is. Also care should be taken with the clips as this can easily break and they are very important as they clip together the two parts. Sounds easy when you say it but is actually not. Gives a good result? Yes because you can clean the inside of the headlight as well in case condensation leaves water marks. And also takes longer. Good luck to whoever gives a try.
