So enough was enough, i finally tracked the source of the bad smells myself and in this video i will show you what it was and how i stopped it. Does the idler pulley only have one orientation to be in installed? Or can it be installed with either side facing the engine block?
@@BlakeCDS at 10:50 ISH I mention that the newer part is flat one side and recessed on the other so I fitted the flat side to the block. This lined up with the belt perfectly. It maybe that the part can be used on a different engine with a different offset so you can turn it round. Matt
@Mids1970 yeah I saw that, having issues with the belt being thrown off maybe I've put the idler on the wrong way around and the belt isn't running centred over it
Superb ! Got one of these of a friend no instructions, you made it look so easy, thankyou
Apart from changing the design of a solid steel box section chassis. Rivnuts are aluminium, with little tensile strength. Why not just weld them on ? It would be proper, much much stronger, and faster. It would also be as factory standard. Rivenuts are not a structural join for 3mm steel sections. If it was welded originally, the repair must be the same. Why not jack the truck up on your repair, and see how safe you feel crawling under it. Becauseca proper repair would take the weight of your truck easily. It's just scarry, what you've done. IMHO. Not to mention the galvanic corrosion between different metal, aluminium and steel. Which every landy owner knows too well. Please run welds over the joins and make it strong again.
Did this today, changed the tensioner aswell what a pain in the bollocks this was. Threads stripped and try getting a tap into that space and be able to operate it. Found the belt difficult to get on also, needed two people because new tensioner was very stiff, as it should be
Great video! Thanks!
I saw your UA-cam channel. Your videos are very nice. But due to some problem in your channel, your video view and channel subscribers are not getting. May I explain in more detail if you allow?
Perfect!! All i needed to know..
Great video and thanks for the tip with the sealant. I'll have a go at doing my headlight this weekend. 👍
Know quiet element 11 inch? Low density non kettling
Where can I get one of these from. I have tried Ebay, but when I put details, it comes up with this will not fit my vehicle.
@@ClaireRainer hi Claire I've just done a search on eBay and found them. I don't doubt your having difficulty. Try putting it in a Google search and look under the shopping tab. Matt.
Brill thanks
Great video and advice
A really great video thank you. Can I ask when you had cut the double skin leaving an open cut at the top what did you do to stop dirt and water getting into that area so the rush does not just start there?
just what i was looking for, perfect! No nonsense straightforward stuff. Thanks. 👍
Got same problem, but screw got broken a bit inside. Nothing to grab the screw. Il try to drill wall plug and broke it. Thanks for video.
As much as I like the idea of bolt on outriggers, there is no way I'd be using rivnuts in the old chassis like that. I'd think welding in some crush tubes and long bolts through the chassis would be a better way of doing it.
Thanks OP, was expecting half a day of work having to take the whole front end of the car off to get to that thing out. So it’s a nice surprise to see how easy it is. Made my day!
When I had a Capri years ago, someone told me to soften the hoses with boiling water from the kettle. Been doing that ever since as there's less chance of a good hose being damaged.
That's a driver's side MOT fail technically.
@@yonmusak it has passed every MOT since and is far stronger than the Allmakes biscuit tin alternative.
@@Mids1970 No disputing its strength mate - it is a technical fail, so other MOT test centres might fail it in the future.
Very nice job love the colour mate 👍 👌 👏
Thank you so much 😀
thank you for an interesting take on what must be a common repair, one which I found needing with my pre-*MOT. But my approach is a little more traditional than yours. I have bought lightly galv YRM double skinned footwell repair panels. they will be cut to what is removed with a lip and Mig welded in, some spot weld and some butt weld. This will be painted with Raptor U-Pol anti corrosive paint and finished with body paint, an some underbody paint or wax for the exposed paert. So the finished repair will be like factory.
That looks lovely, you did a great job ☺️
Thank you! 😊
You should’ve put it inside out first to wrap the tie wrap, now the tie wrap is visible.
@@drvibration I did do it wrong didn't I 👍
Thanks, and love your wee pal helper 👍
Thanks for the video it really helped ❤❤

Fantastic video. Thank you!
I will be replacing mine next week. Watch to see how it goes!
Perfect… so simple and so necessary.. thanks for sharing mate
Yes thank you very clear and helpful - hope those aren't the wife's scissors 😂
Thanks for the informative and useful video of yours !
IV changed a bulb I know have condensation any tips what IV done ?
Hey mate. It's not clear where the blue cable goes. I have looked under the casing but just can't seem to find it. Cheers
The blue cable has a spring on it and it sits between the body and the outer metal casing of the motor in a little pocket in the plastic
same thing happened to me last night 😂 great video mate
lucky man, mine top mounts bolts won't move a bit :(
Do you have to switch off the hot water if you're taking the thermostat off and not removing the entire element?
Not in my case the tube the thermostat sits in is sealed at the bottom so it's not in the water. Just try pulling on the thermostat if it lifts a bit yours will be the same
Thank you for the tutorial, I couldn't find a way to adjust it.
you fucked that up and rivnuts will not pass an MOT
Good video, I plan on doing exactly this
I get it even when half the key was stuck in the lock cylinder about 15 years ago😀
I like videos like this, no nonsense talking and shit. Straight to the point! One question: any symptoms ? Noise ?
Thank you 😊 very helpful
Thanks for your videos and inspiration. The laid back approach makes a daunting task easier for us all 👍
Nice, done it all from inside the cab 💪
Great Job 👍
Thanks for that as mine didn’t even have them fitted lol, just now order two
Brilliant thank you. I had a similar problem and could work out how to take the lock barrel out of the old luck assembly
