    The Private Train plans of the Indian Railways have moved one step further with the Ministry of Railways inviting Qualification (RFQ) proposals from interested parties. The RFQ have been invited for 151 private train services over 109 route pairs of the Indian Railways network as of now. These train services will be split among 12 clusters. Trains for these private train services are to be capable for a maximum speed of 160 kph and each rake is to consist of minimum 16 coaches. All these trains would be Premium trains with Air-Conditioned coaches. The running time taken by a train shall be comparable to or faster than the fastest train of Indian Railways operating in the respective route. The private operator shall be responsible for financing, procuring, operation and maintenance of the trains.

    Private players will not get operations - driver, guard, safety certification, infrastructure will remain with railways,” he had said. “Private players will only get on-board services - entertainment, food, cleanliness, passenger amenities, fare collection. These private train services are likely to start in 2023. In the interim period the Railways are making the infrastructure ready for train operations at 160km maximum speed.
    There are three clusters in the south zone, Secundarabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Let us see what the Chennai based cluster would get and the details of the trains.
    12 pairs of trains are allocated to Chennai cluster. Out of this 6 pairs are daily trains between Chennai and New Delhi, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirappaly and Kanyakumari. One daily pair train each between Coimbatore and Tirunelveli, Ernakulam and Kanyakumari and One pair between Puducherry and Secunderabad.
    One bi-weekly Chennai to Mumbai pair, weekly once Chennai Mangalore and weekly thrice Kochuveli Guwahati.
    1. Chennai- Madurai - Chennai - 6.00am departure from Madurai and will arrival at Chennai 12.20pm. Then it will start from Chennai at 4.00Pm and will arrive at Madurai at 10.25pm. Average speed almost same as current Tejas , 76Km per hour.
    Coimbatore Train - A very early morning, 5.00am Coimbatore departing and returing at 8.30pm train. Travel time 6,30 hrs. Tiruchi would get a 4.15hr day return train starting at 6.00am at Tirchi and returning to Tiruchi the same night at 9.30pm.
    Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli would get night sleeper trains. New Delhi train would take 27 hours and would be one night journey. Kanyakumari to Ernakulam and Coimbatore to Tirunelveli would be day time Shatabdi type trains with travel time of 6 hrs and 7hrs respectively.
    The weekly thrice Guwahati to Kochuveli would take 62 hours and would be longest train among all the clusters. The Chennai to Mumbai train would be a premium express covering the distance is 22 hours.

    It's a must that train operators must keep to 100kmph avg speed to the cities proposed at all timez... And railways shd c to it that proper tracks and signals and LPs r trained 4 the purpose at once

    MAS-SBC: The Jolarpettai kink in the route should be removed to reduce travel time.
    Speed should be faster than Gatimaan
    Trains need not be 16 coaches long; this exercise will fail from the start as the operator will not be able to ensure occupancy. 6 to 8 coaches to start with will help a lot in speed, cleanliness, avoid catering in short routes, and quick turnaround in maintenance.
    These travel times are not acceptable for a premium payer.
    Driver and Guard should belong to the Operator and not IR. They would ensure it as their "own" train. IR staff in a private train is a non starter; they don't have the compulsion of adhering to time table, and anyway the operational time table of IR has a lot of buffers.
    A private train is a "private train" running on govt tracks. Anything and everything rolling within should be fully private.

      I had personally written to Southern Railway and also MOR. They responded saying that it is there on future plans. Recently they have strengthened the pass through like and made is fit form 90KM pass through so pass through trains can Zip through.

    How abt new praposed trains between New byappanahalli Terminal- Tambaram ?? When ll it be introduced??is it a night train???

      The Byappanahalli Terminal is slated to open in October so probably it would be the Inaugural Service!!.

    Who want costly private premium trains? The rich prefer airplanes. Common people prefer railways. But railways unnecessarily. Go to costly and private train s. This concept is a wrong concept
