  • Jeff from www.Kartsmarter.com (MyChron 5 Experts) takes you through his method for mounting a go kart seat. This way is relatively easy, and by following the same order you can ensure good accuracy in your placement of the seat.
    Tools needed:
    Flat surface for setting the seat on, clamps to hold flat surface in place, tape measure, cordless drill and bits. For making the front spacers it is very handy to have a miter saw available. Be careful and go slowly!

    Thank you so much , I ve already started , I want to learn something , what is the purpose of go kart stays ? ; Enlarging the size ofseat or supporting the seat for more safety ?

      The struts help transfer load across the rear axle during cornering

    When measuring from front hoop to front of seat, is that measurement the same for both right and left side (square) or do you skew the seat by like 5mm where the right side is further back than the left?
    Also do you center the seat in the chassis or shift it over to the left side by a few mm?

    • @KartSmarter
      @KartSmarter  Рік тому

      Usually right side is further back to put your torso left off the kart centerline to offset the motor weight

    I am the same height as you and I'm wondering what seat this is? And do you rock your seats back to lower your COG?

      Tillett T11 soft size ml, 62.5mm and 63.5mm from front rail, bottom parallel with the rails of the chassis so no tilt back

    can you move it so if you want to be closer to the wheel

      Generally speaking, the steering wheel isn't your main concern when placing the seat within your chassis. Your bodyweight often accounts for 50% of the vehicle's total weight, so its placement massively impacts the balance and behavior of your kart. Place your seat where it belongs in your chassis, then adjust your steering shaft or steering bushing to bring the wheel to a comfortable position.

    Where can I locate your cut to fit bottom seat spacers? I am tall and need bigger spacers. Great video

      Get some nylon round bar stock from McMaster Carr or any other supply place. They will cut like butter on a chop saw.

    How did you decide to use seat struts? I don't see those on every kart.

    Wats the length u use front of the seat to the frame ?

    • @KartSmarter
      @KartSmarter  5 місяців тому

      I can’t answer that for you, depends on your body and the kart you’re racing. Check with the kart manufacturer for a starting point, then tweak it to get the performance you want out of the kart. Your body weight is probably 50% of the kart’s weight so position is a powerful tuning tool. From memory i was in the 62.5-63.5 cm range from the front hoop

    Hi, in terms of measurements, can you shed some light on this.... are these measurements generic or kart specific?

    • @KartSmarter
      @KartSmarter  6 років тому +1

      Christopher Ramnauth my seat goes 62.5cm left side 63.5 right side, and normally sits flush with the bottom of the frame. It's placement is specific to driver's height and the chassis.

      Kart Smarter Can you shed some light on where you'd put it on a 32mm Birel, I'm 5' 8"

    • @KartSmarter
      @KartSmarter  6 років тому

      Christopher Ramnauth Compkart is made in the Birel factory, but isn't the same chassis. I'd contact the Birel factory team or PSL to get exact info. If I had to guess, I'd imagine your seat will wind up somewhere in the 59-61cm range from the front hoop.

    • @IggySport1388
      @IggySport1388 6 років тому

      Kart Smarter Ok thanks for the info, in terms of height is it customary to go above the chassis rails to gain more grip? Also I see you are using slightly less distance on the engine side of the seat which would have the seat rotated a little I assume to compensate for engine weight....instead of doing this is it ok to leave the seat completely straight but offset it more to the brakes side with spacers?

    • @riccardoarici
      @riccardoarici 5 років тому +1

      @@IggySport1388 yes you can
      Move it all left and the distance from the further part of the seat (both sides) to the front of the kart can be the same
