How do you accelerate up a rail like that? Is it some kind of TAS-only inputs or advanced tech?

just get a lot of red boost and get some backwards momentum when trying to get on the rail. Despite how it looks, it's surprisingly easy

if you're on a rail in a sideways stance, holding jump and hitting an obstacle messes with your rider state. you have to stay on the rail for the entire "hurt" animation that happens from hitting the obstacle, then dismount the rail. (i recommend boosting to the end of the rail for the dismount part, if i remember correctly trying to jump off of it prevents the sideways thing from happening.)
