- This version is previous to Rick Davies adding his vocal part, which was a late idea. Roger Hodgson's vocals and other elements are also different from the official releases of the song.
Recorded in 1978 at the Village Recorder studio (Los Angeles).
Producers: Supertramp & Peter Henderson
Musicians: Roger Hodgson, Rick Davies, John Helliwell, Bob Siebenberg, Dougie Thomson
Rodger is my uncle, never heard this version. I know this song so well, so I can hear all the difference. Very nice
Roger is your uncle? So cool. I've meet him. Very kind man.
And how is ol’ Uncle Roger?
So lucky your are! Roger is my idol! I saw Supertramp and him in concert 12 times, once coming back from Korea (where I was living) to Paris only for the concert! I had a chance to have a great chat with Roger after a concert in Toulon in 2010 with my then 11 years old daughter who is also a fan: I will never forget it!
Both Roger and Rick needed each other, they brought the best out of one another and when they broke up, they never attained the sound they once had.
Brother were you bound ?
Surely.
Brother where you bound is an excellent record and I personally think trumps Eye of the Storm, but nothing quite matched the quality of the Hodgson/Davies line up imho
Exactly, all these comments. I’m wondering the same. How these two never got on, I don’t understand. Both were as good as each other…
Those Timbales are great! Rick Davies played them on the Free as a Bird album. Perhaps here, too?
Yeah, greeeaaat, love it 😉 thanks 👍
But i'm not sure that the wurli part is an alternative version, i'm pretty sure it's the original wurli session.
In this version, it seems that Roger sings a little less out of tune..
Sad that there's not Rick's backround vocal.
Beautiful
This just sounds like a rehearsal take that’s been polished up.
Amazing . We need a Goodbye stranger instrumental version please !
Tks for sharing,. I'm learning so much with these videos....they growing up for the perfection on the last version , a clean version. "Minus is Plus"
Love it! But I can see why Rick’s vocals were added.
Quite a little difference....
A nother Suoertramp song parts???
