Great video, I would have liked for you to show us exactly what you did to remove the 16mm bolts given the limited space back there...now we are all left to guess n figure out that aspect..😁😜
Do you happen to know the proper torque for the 7mm Caliper Guide Pins, and the 16mm Caliper Bracket bolts? If pad wear did not reach the pad wear sensor, is there any non-obvious need to replace the sensor?
I asked the local BMW dealer to look up the torque values for a 2008 X5 E70 4.8L --- -Rotor Retaining Allen cap screw - torque to 12 ft-lbs (16 Nm) with a 6mm Allen socket. -Rear Caliper Mount Bracket bolts - Torque to 48 ft-lbs (65 Nm) with an external Torx E18 socket or 16mm six point socket. (Front brake caliper carrier bolts use 77 ft-lbs 110 Nm -Caliper Guide Pins - Torque to 22 ft-lbs (30 Nm) with a 7mm stubby socket. I use Loctite blue 242 or 243 on all these brake bolts. Reusing a wear sensor that has not tripped works just fine, but if the wear sensor trips due to pad wear, it's like a fuse and can not be reused.

How to did you remove the lower caliper bolt/pin. I do not see enough room/clearance for my 7 mm Allen socket and ratchet tool to go in ?
I have a really short socket. If you use a 7 mm wrench on the bit side. And leave off the ratchet off you should have enough room to get it out.
I actually ran into this problem and had to unscrew shock absorber and push it to the side. An extra step, but worked out fine at the end.

So if Im correct a BMW e53 only needs 2 brake sensors. 1 in the back and one in the front?
Yes that is right.
I recently did the brake pad/rotor replacement DIY. One sensor on the driver side at front and one sensor on the passenger side at the rear.
when pushing the piston caliper, do I have to open the cap on brake fluid?
nik nok it wouldn't hurt anything if you did. Are usually just suck if you ounces out that way doesn't over spilled.
