From any given AF value, to have the decimal value, multiply the IP precedence *8 then, Drop Probabilty *2. Then Add both of them. ie AF43 = (4*8) + (3*2) = 32+6 = 38:)
You are an absolutely phenomenal teacher! I love the mix of metaphors, practical applications, and theory you use to teach a concept... the combo of all three really makes the concepts stick in the mind. Keep up the great work!
Amazing video Kevin. When I was in my college cisco classes, we briefly skimmed over QoS, and I'll admit that it absolutely bored me out of my mind. This had my full attention throughout the entire video, and I can't believe how easy you made it with your explanations and examples. Thank you so much!
Wow, this topic is really large but you summarize it in just 2 hours!!!
You are one of the best teachers on QoS. Thanks
Hahahahhahahaahaha the best instructor i have ever heard so far. The way he simplifies everything iyooo !! Amazing
any why laughing?
@@rendog311rendog2 Sometimes when we don't understand a topic and someone comes along and make this very digestible and easy to understand, we laugh at ourselves about how we suck at self teaching or understand some complex topic, and Mr. Kevin comes along and says: here it is, stop crying and learn! and we laugh for the imcompetentness we have at understanding certain @topic, @idea... etc.
I think that's why Lennon is "laughing"

In networking, the airport analogy is what I always use for anything. QoS, Security, Routing, even packet size! :)
Great explanation on QoS terminologies and what they actually do. I wish I had seen this video earlier. Thanks Kevin!
Amazingly explained expertly but with simplicity..
One of the best QOS explanation
Finally a REAL qos guide/explanation , thank you for sharing with us ❤️
Best explanation I’ve watched by now. Thanks Kevin.
Hi kevin, thank you from sharing this golden area (QoS area) with us
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
your explanation is very clear and professional way, thank you very much
I have a question.
if there's a topology with N switch and 1 router (firewall) for the connection to the internet
if I want to prioritize the voip traffic should I use dscp to mark the traffic and configure it inbound on all the switch interface and in other switches?
when the traffic has to go out on the internet is it privileged also outgoing when it crosses the firewall?
Always top notch content from Kevin.
Thanks for the video Kevin!
you provide one of the best learningresources for collaboration
Kevin, thanks. Now I know how to manage QoS. It is closely similar to CPU scheduling. Thank you so much. Now I can save the bandwidth of my client's network congestion.
Thank you Kevin. Great presentation. Really liked the Airline analogy.
You're very welcome, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
which video i can refer for toll fraud prevention topic
Fantastic video - really well explained with examples and at a good pace to follow along to. Coming into this with no knowledge of QoS - it has really helped to make me understand the concepts. Thank you!
I eventually understood QoS, thank you a lot.
Can you explain the XCP ?
So to use the soupnazi analogy, he would be more akin to a Policer than a shaper due to his harshness of punishment. He refuses you service, drops you in effect. But shaping is more like, okay go to the back of the line for your infraction and I will call on you when I have the means to deal with your request. I say back of the line but it is queued, it fit with the concept of soupnazi
Thanks Kevin, always educational and professional listening.
As most people said, that was outstanding job, congratulations
Thank you Kevin for this well explained video. My question is what is the difference between RSVP and Class Based WFQ?
RSVP reserves bandwidth end-to-end, even if it doesn't use the data. It is wasteful but the delivery is guaranteed. Similar to how old telephone calls, only you had the line. CB-WFQ is per packet at each interface, every interface can also have different rules. For example your router could prioritise voice, MPLS would also prioritise it if agreed with your provider. However the internet would ignore is and send it first in first out.
Hello Kevin,
I find this a great video, thanks for sharing this video with us.
I have a question please. How can i limit the overall bandwidth on my client vlan interface witch is connected on cisco nexus 3064 ?
I'm only managing our home network, I want to try assigning equal amounts of bandwidth or traffic per device. Is WFQ the right option to select?
01:01:59: Telnet will get dropped , there is concept called COS-DSCP and DSCP to COS mappings and asscoaited configurations on QOS. Overall the session was very informative
Wauw! Amazing lecture. Thank you Kevin!
Skip to 3:20 if you want to go directly to the start of the presentation.
Thank you Kevin for the explanation with Examples.
Thanks Kevin for sharing this great video with us. It is really helpful.

Agreed
Thanks for the video, I have a question how the probability get calculated for CS1-CS7 code points?
good lecture. the only thing strange is the pronunciation of classes (sounds like claises). it would have been great if he covered Types of Policers from ccnp 350-401 exam (single rate 2 color, two-rate 3 colors)
doesnt the destination device increase the window size for the sender to send packets ?
With the probability of a drop, everything is clear.
What is the role of a Сlass in the AF table?
Does the Class matter in WRR, CQ, WFQ, CBWFQ and Drop Probability in congestion avoidance mechanisms?
Can you tell me whether or not QOS impacts LAN as well or only WiFi? I want to prioritize my WiFi to my PS4, but I also have two PC's that I don't want to slow down because of the allocation to the PS4. I have a netgear nighthawk 500. Thanks.
You are my HERO now I work as a NOC engineer and the thanks was up to you, is there any new course that can we buy regarding CCNP SP the new course
AKA the method by which ISPs will create those "fast lanes" now that Title 2 has been repealed, which prevented them from taking "a bribe" from larger corporations and allowing their traffic to jump to the head of the line.
This cleared up alot for me, thanks Kevin!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the training.
Hello Kevin,
I find this a great video, thanks for sharing this video with us.
I have a question, what is your view on the whole point of having different classes with the dscp values if in the end the right most bits are only being looked at for the drop probability? what do classes 1 to 4 differ from each other?
@@kwallaceccie Great explanation Kevin, thanks!
What happens if you shape at line rate?
how did he calculate latency 1500 byte packet over 56k ?
Awesome!! Thanks Kevin
You are my hero Kevin. Love your teaching skills hahaha
Tks Bro!

I could be rusty, but isn't TOS bit 6 used for internet control?
great explanation , thank you
great Teacher
I still don’t understand the binary calculation behind AF43
Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing your video. I do have a quick question. on VoIP, this is only for Voice. May I ask how Video will be handled in QoS? I mean should it be the same class as the Voice? I will appreciate your clarification and advice on this matter.
Hi Kevin, I was just wondering, at 1:13:29 the Bit Combination of 01 is said to be ECN capable but not experiencing congestion, the same as 11. (within the table in the bottom left)
However I thought that 01 combination should be ECN in-capable, but experiencing congestion as the first bit (ECT) is 0, indicating it is not ECN capable, and the second bit (CE) is 1 meaning that congestion is experienced?
This bit has left me a little confused and was wondering if you could help me out a little bit?
Thanks for the quick reply, very useful thank you
@@crochfarl9804 hey, im not seeing the reply. what was it? thx in advance
Is there documentation from Cisco specifying that we should only have 11 different classes of traffic?
RFC791
IPP(3bits i.e. 8)+3bits(Delay+Throuput+Reliability)
Can you please do a route map video? Thanks
Hi Mr.Kevin ,
Is QoS comes under CCNA Syllabus???
Really Nice video, thanks for that Kevin
Dude, this is great. Thanks.
Hey Kevin!! Great Work i really enjoyed your webinar but i am not a networking guy. What i am looking for is Quality of Service in Cloud Computing can you please make a webinar on that, it will really help me with my Research.Waiting for your reply avidly...
the best video ever, thank you very much.
Cheers Mate.
Thanks for the Video Kevin.
Hello Kevin,
Will it be possible to share the PDF/Powerpoint file of this presentation?
@ 1:19:35 In times of congestion how does the remaining bandwidth gets distributed between the queues once minimums are satisfied. In your example, pretend that Call Signaling, Network Control and Bulk Data are asking for 2 Mbps, while there is no Critical Data being sent at this time. Once the required 1 Mbps of bandwidth is is allocated between the three, will the remainder of the traffic be distributed evenly?
I got one more ask for you. I recently came across Multi-Level Priority Queues. I would love to see a video from you explaining this newer QoS feature.
Awesome! Thank you Sir..! I really appreciate and it was very helpful video
Can anybody answer what are 11 different classes of traffic used here??
RFC791
IPP(3bits i.e. 8)+3bits(Delay+Throuput+Reliability)
Thank you!
Thank you Sir!
One awesome webinar ..
@1:29:28 cisco config sample
What a great video, thankyou
Thank you.
very well explained! tks!!!!
Kelvin, you have been very useful and impactful with these video. I’m proud of you.
Good job ! Btw, you do a pretty good Shatner impersonation:-)

Fantastic
all good, but how can a gaming traffic be lower priority traffic ????????????!?!?!?!?1?!!?1
so if I understand this right DiffServ is the one to use if all I'm looking for is a QoS to limit how much a given user can use of the bandwidth
say I got 100mbit and I don't want any user to be able to use more than 50mbit
Hello Kevin, quick question about your streams. I always seem to see them a month late! I'm doing my CCNA at the moment and I look up the subjects as I have to in class so the timing will never be there. I just subscribed as this is insanely useful and I'd like to be able to watch a live stream and benefit of those gifts sometime *wink wink*
Are the live stream directly on UA-cam or somewhere else like Twitch? Thanks!
Thanks for this great Video
I’m sorry why is he saying “claysses” instead of classes
It honestly took me 2 minutes to figure out what he meant
Who's watching night before exam ?
you are a network god LoL
Lol, that was me at 15 minutes with RSVP 😋 I forgot about that!
How dare you sir. Obviously Halo traffic outweighs anything else in our networks... lol
EVERYBODY IS DROPPING PACKETS; EVERYBODY SUFFERS
