    This is a really great video. I would almost say this is the only thing you need to know as a beginner using the software for the first time. Figuring out how to merge components was the main problem as a beginner IMO and this video clearly fixes that problem.

    The UX / UI needs a lot of love :D. Even deleting a control point seems difficult, there is no "1ds" in the version I just downloaded so I have no idea how to assign the same point again, and all this color assignment stuff seems unnecessary. If I were you guys I'd work on trying to make that stuff clear without consulting documentation

      After first opening of the application, there is a pre set setting to 2Ds view. You can change it by clicking on it, keep clicked and then choose 1Ds view. Then you can there select a wanted point and delete it simply. The color cursors could be useful. You can watch also this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZKNFhh7bwtw/v-deo.html

    This is certainly a very powerful software but the user interface is a freaking nightmare. There's no way to use it without watching long tutorials like this one...

      This is a complicated process that we're doing. RC is optimized for fast workflows. Do you know another software with similar performance but that has solved this better?

      Once you master the interface, you'll find that it's the smartest interface ever made. In particular, the use of the mouse is extremely well thought out. Many details in this interface demonstrate the desire of the creators to make life easier for users. I have been using RealityCapture since 2016. Compared to other photogrammetry software interfaces, this one is by far the best.

    I hope that now with Epic Games you guys land on a more user friendly environmental. Why should it be so complicated for every small task?

    I don't think that down arrow key confirms suggestion of control point any longer right? For me it does switch to the next view, it just doesn't confirm.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  4 місяці тому

      Hi, it works that way. It confirms the measurement and goes to next the image.

    • @alonsorobots
      @alonsorobots 4 місяці тому

      Mine does not do this. I can create a recording for you. It would be a huge improvement if it both confirmed and moved to the next image. I’m using the latest free version.

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  4 місяці тому

      @@alonsorobots Feel free to record the video.
      For the suggestion you need to see the unassigned control points in 1Ds view (the ones with green plus sign next to them).
      Then you need to open the image with control point in 2D view, hover the mouse over the point, click and push the left mouse button, correct the control point's position and confirm it by pushing the down arrow key (6:09 in the video).

    • @alonsorobots
      @alonsorobots 4 місяці тому

      @@CapturingReality I realize now that you have to click and *hold down* the left mouse button for it to auto confirm and move unto next. Also, for me it's not the down arrow key, but the left and right arrow keys. Maybe it's a language difference?

    • @CapturingReality
      @CapturingReality  4 місяці тому

      @@alonsorobots No, it is not a language difference. Left/right key shows the next image in the capturing order, up/down key shows the image where the point is suggested.

    Thanks for the great tutorial. One issue that I have working with suggested points.For some reason I don't have constraints menu in align tab

    why do you need to add colors to the views at the start?

    • @CapturingReality

      To see more different images at once. But it is not a necessary step.

    When I go to define the distance between control points it says this constraint has not enough points defined. I have my points 0,1 set on three different photos. Do I have to define the distance seperate you for each photo?

      Hi Jacob, what kind of dataset are you using? How many inputs are imported? What is the image quality?

    • @jacobdailey8936
      @jacobdailey8936 2 роки тому

      @@CapturingReality My subject is someones face. they are pretty still throughout all photos. I have 125 images imported. 200 if i include the ones of the back of the head. Taken on my Sony a6000 manual cam settings and raw. Once in RC image quality is 6000x3376.
      I've tried to go through and add control points on the corners of the eye, mouth and ear, but when i hit Align the blue bar goes about 1/3rd of the way and it vanishes with no prompt as to why it had done so.
      Is there a way to see if it ran into an issue with a particular image?

    This application is capable of greatness. But after 23 years in VFX, I have to say the UI is positively awful.
