This is a really great video. I would almost say this is the only thing you need to know as a beginner using the software for the first time. Figuring out how to merge components was the main problem as a beginner IMO and this video clearly fixes that problem.
The UX / UI needs a lot of love :D. Even deleting a control point seems difficult, there is no "1ds" in the version I just downloaded so I have no idea how to assign the same point again, and all this color assignment stuff seems unnecessary. If I were you guys I'd work on trying to make that stuff clear without consulting documentation
After first opening of the application, there is a pre set setting to 2Ds view. You can change it by clicking on it, keep clicked and then choose 1Ds view. Then you can there select a wanted point and delete it simply. The color cursors could be useful. You can watch also this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZKNFhh7bwtw/v-deo.html
This is certainly a very powerful software but the user interface is a freaking nightmare. There's no way to use it without watching long tutorials like this one...
This is a complicated process that we're doing. RC is optimized for fast workflows. Do you know another software with similar performance but that has solved this better?
Once you master the interface, you'll find that it's the smartest interface ever made. In particular, the use of the mouse is extremely well thought out. Many details in this interface demonstrate the desire of the creators to make life easier for users. I have been using RealityCapture since 2016. Compared to other photogrammetry software interfaces, this one is by far the best.
How do I move a camera position? I just need to move one so that the program understand that there are two sides on my object. I made it understand whit a controllpoint but happend digard it and now I cant get the program to understand that the images are from diffrent sides of my objekt.
HI, it is not possible to move camera position (unless you change the prior pose of it). If you captured the object from both sides, to process it you should follow this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/xxsdbzBwWLE/v-deo.html
When I go to define the distance between control points it says this constraint has not enough points defined. I have my points 0,1 set on three different photos. Do I have to define the distance seperate you for each photo?
I don't think that down arrow key confirms suggestion of control point any longer right? For me it does switch to the next view, it just doesn't confirm.
Mine does not do this. I can create a recording for you. It would be a huge improvement if it both confirmed and moved to the next image. I’m using the latest free version.
@@alonsorobots Feel free to record the video. For the suggestion you need to see the unassigned control points in 1Ds view (the ones with green plus sign next to them). @@CapturingReality I realize now that you have to click and *hold down* the left mouse button for it to auto confirm and move unto next. Also, for me it's not the down arrow key, but the left and right arrow keys. Maybe it's a language difference?
@@alonsorobots No, it is not a language difference. Left/right key shows the next image in the capturing order, up/down key shows the image where the point is suggested.

Thankyou very much, i'm going with my thesis now, and this very helpfull
I hope that now with Epic Games you guys land on a more user friendly environmental. Why should it be so complicated for every small task?
Get good
thank you!

Verry usefull !
Thanks for the great tutorial. One issue that I have working with suggested points. For some reason I don't have constraints menu in align tab

Hi Cole, do you have selected these points in Selected constraint(s) table as A and B?

why do you need to add colors to the views at the start?
To see more different images at once. But it is not a necessary step.

HI, are you doing this after alignment and after placing the point in 3Ds view? During using arrows do you have still pushed the left mouse button?
This application is capable of greatness. But after 23 years in VFX, I have to say the UI is positively awful.
So over complicated! Should learn from tracking softwares like 3de & syntheyes
Obnoxious UI
