It shouldn't come out blurry if you reproject, reprojection just goes in the direction of the normal till it hits the source model and takes that texel. If you texture again it will come out blurry, because the cameras won't converge on the geometry if it is out. Also if you use more polys model better and use the shrink wrap modifier then you will get better results with either method.
I think modeling all the stuff and baking textures inside of Blender is much more easier. This is the way I do low-poly models.

Hi, this is just a workflow to get the basic idea. And exporting LOD models could take a longer time as creation of such simple model :)
