Your nails were a-peeling and now they are appealing!
    I'm sorry.

I had the wooooorst peeling nails after a manicure gone wrong. My nails were about as strong as dried seaweed. I started applying Nailtiques to my nails every time I painted my own under my base coat and it works like a charm. I haven't peeled once since, and my nails are actually tougher even though the manicure fiasco is only halfway grown out. AWESOME stuff.

Ok that was sooo helpful! I had acrylics for 20 years, gels for 2 at a salon. Just before Covid hit I decided (for some reason) to stop and let my nails grow out. Glad I did, however, my real nails peel so badly. Found your down to earth video and am going to 'once again' try everything you've suggested. I don't want to go back to a salon...thanks again!

Great tip about dealing with C-curve nails, which I have and hate. I keep mine shorter and squared off, but filing off the curve sounds like a good option. Also, I have ridges and will never buff my nails again because it did weaken them and cause splitting. Instead, I apply two layers of basecoat and that smooths out the ridges. Ruffles have ridges but our nails shouldn't, LOL!

Hi there. Loved the concealer brush and acetone hack. Hadn't thought about that one. Healthy-looking nails. My nails started growing last year for the first time in 39 years !!! after I decided to take care of them once and for all. Now they're my pride.

Edit: I use Orly Bonder too when I'm not using Nailtiques! AND the Sally Hansen Instadry topcoat! 😆

This will really help my nails! I was obsessed with nail art and nail care but I haven't had any time to continue. Unfortunately my nails have gotten into really bad shape eg. Extreme peeling, brittle, uneven lengths, dry, over grown cuticles, hangnails etc. My nails grow quite fast which is a blessing and also a curse because it means the peeling of my nails just keeps occurring. I'm looking for some solutions and this is the second time someone has suggested biotin. I'll give it a try 😀

Omg!! Me too! I was diagnosed in 2014. I'm doing a lot better on armour thyroid. I don't have the peeling like you describe, I'd call it patchy peeling. Those jamberry things, damaged my nails...no matter how gently I'd remove them. I have noticed the hair/skin/nails issue has improved on the NDT thyroid meds. I was such a mess on levothyroxine. Hope you are feeling more energetic!

My nails are flat and I wish that they had more of a curve-I think that the curve makes them stronger. Oh well, guess it’s like curly or straight hair-we want what we don’t have! Why do folks have a problem with Seche Vite? I love it! (I just got their gel-like top coat and it’s AMAZING!!

Love seeing how other people care for their nails. As well as biotin, I take Horse Tail Grass capsules - the combination of both has made a massive difference to my nails. Also, when I'm oiling my cuticles after the manicure, I put the oil all over my top coat - it really seems to speed up drying.

My nails peel like crazy! It drives me NUTS! Thing is, I haven’t been consistent about applying cuticle oil or my Hard as Hoof Nail Strengthening Cream. Winter is brutal on my nails and cuticles. I had this video playing on my tablet while I organized some other nail materials and I kid you not....I’ve applied the cream and brushed in cuticle oil about 5 times and each time the cream and oil were absorbed by my thirsty nails and cuticles. I’m also trying to drink more water. Thank you for all the great tips, tricks and info. 💅🏼😃

In theory, biotin should not work that fast since it takes 6 months for the nail to grow from cuticle to free edge. On the other hand the nail keeps hydrated from the skin underneath it (as you point out in your tip to drink water) so maybe there is something about biotin that affects the moisture from your body that's keeping the nail hydrated? As far as your thumb, it sounds like you injured the nail growth plate, so it's now growing in injured.

Thank You so much for talking about Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's. Last week I found out that I have Hashimoto's and that my right thyroid had cancer. I had 3 Biopsies done and not one showed it. I'm glad to know that the reason why my hair and nails are so bad is because the Hashimoto's. I have to now go back in and get my left side taken out. I have been using Not my mommas hair care shampoo and conditioner and my hair has grown a lot with the biotin also. Thanks again for shairing.

Love your recommendations! I use to buff my nails to get the ridges smooth but then someone told me that the highest part of the ridge is actually where your nail is suppose to be at. The intentions (lower part) is the problem so when we buff the actual ridge down it makes the problem worse. I don’t know if that made any sense but there it is lol.

Love this, I have dysautonomia and have peeling nails. Ive been using a mixture of Jamaican castor oil, vita E oil and garlic oil (from capsules) and its got my nails growing like cray. They are still peeling but significantly less. Castor oil isnt the best for you, so i plan to switch to coconut oil once this batch is finished (both are high protein oils ^^)

Such a great video, as always! I loved seeing all of your tricks and tips. I never thought of using lip balm as a cuticle moisturizer, but it totally makes sense. I keep a stick of the Burt's Bees lip balm to use on my eczema. It's the only moisturizer that even comes close to keeping it at bay!
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes ... On the nails where you use a treatment, do you use that treatment as your base coat? Or do you put the treatment and then base coat on top? I thought you were using the treatment as a base coat in your video, but I just wanted to double-check.
Your nails are looking so great! I love the length you have now, and they are a super pretty shape.

I've never had a splitting problem with my nails, until about a month ago that I attempted to file my nails. my thumb nail split almost half down, with a few days, this was painful and I was worried. I have decided to never file them down and continue with a nail clipper. I actually think that the slipping was because of the back and forth motion that people say you are not supposed to do when filling your nails.

I made some biotin infused cuticle oil lolol (just squeezed a few capsules into some cuticle oil. it separates so you have to shake it) and it really works but I haven't been using that either. thank you for reminding me maybe my nails will get better. also GURL my mind is blown that you file away your c curve. my nails are literally flat and i HATE IT. I'm dying for some c curve!! it curves more as they get longer but I can't get them long because of this damn peeling

Vaseline doesn’t hydrate, but does prevent moisture loss & seals in moisture. One more tip, use those ugly rubber gloves. It makes a huge difference & is worth those extra seconds to put them on! 😉

In just four months may nails look so much better. They are super strong but they peel a little bit, but they are so much better.

Tu nails es mi nails. Lol.
My two cents...use a crystal file for shaping. It's like b-u-t-t-e-r. It leaves your nail edge smooth like a baby's tush.

I tried Biotin and it gave me ridiculous heart palpitations. It isn’t for everybody.

" don't use your nails as a tool"
Uses nail as a tool to push back cuticles.
