The people of Vietnam are kind. Most are willing to help if they see you struggle or, in a case, your bike breakdown. Don’t worry too much, and remember to ask the mountains for protection.
Congrats, this is no small endeavor. Love Vietnam, it's pretty safe and the people are friendly, especially in the rural areas. Thanks for sharing your journey. 👍
Thank you that was a excellent video very inspiring. You choose a spectacular route fantastic scenery thank you again for sharing ☀️☀️☀️ Wishing you Happy Cycling ☀️
WOW you got to see some AMAZING VIEWS. Great video. What a ADVENTURE. All the food look so delicious 😋. I most definitely will be following you to see what next adventure you do. 🏕️
You're braver than me that's for sure. I could never go back to the old country as I'm too Americanize and they would definitely see me as an outsider. Grew up in the South and never got a chance to visit the North, something I would have loved to do. It's a good thing you have a gravel bike on the trip after seeing the landscaping. All that food is now making me hungry (except for the veggies 😁.)
Is Viet Nam not the most amazing place? You are so tough. I biked in this country and I forgot how the locals would just run out to wave and yell HELLO HELLO. We kinda stuck out. We had two guys in our group who were both over 6ft tall. Maybe I’ll run into you in SF and we can ride from bottom of Stanyan up to Sutro.
Nice video! As a road biker this might be the first time I've seen merit in a gravel 🤫 I guess on that sort of ride you have to tow around chain cleaner etc
Lovely! I did the having loop a few years back but on a scooter, and yes, the climbs are nasty! Hope to Bikepacking SEA one day soon and film it! A new sub here, keep posting. Best wishes.
I’m glad I finally clicked on your video. Your storytelling is superb. Loved the mix of captions and stills and video and voice commentary! Am now subscribing.
A big congrats on your journey. You are one tough women riding your bike on those roads under construction. We are in Northern Thailand on a motorcycle, lucky we have not had roads that bad yet. Yes, you are so right about worrying about things that might happen, it will hold you back. In my younger years, never worried, just did it. Now I am 78, I am starting to worry about what might happen, so that is starting to hold me back some. Anyway, beautifully done video, thanks for taking the time to video it, I know it adds a lot of time to your travel. We just ride now, only stop a few times to take photos. Again, thanks for taking us along on your adventure. ,
Thank you so much for your comment and recognizing the effort :). I also thought about how much I wanted to spend recording vs being fully present. Wonderful that you're still riding at 78! That's my goal. Looking back, I'm happy to have been able to "journal" it and share it with others. Everyday I'm becoming more accepting of life phases and understanding how we can be our best selves at our current age.
Biking alone is freedom. I did cycling trips in countries I didn't even speak the language, and they didn't speak mine, or english, and yet, there is always people around willing to help. You have the speed to cover the miles, but not the speed to miss most along those miles, that is the beauty of it. I build my own bikes, never owned a car, and I never will :)
Great video! Congratulations and thanks for making. Am researching bikepacking and came across your channel. Have subscribed and will watch more. All the best in your adventures 💫
Wow, that is incredible that u ride ur bike the entire Ha Giang loop. I’m not sure I can handle just sitting in the back of a bike for 4-5 days 😂 . Base on ur profile pic look like u r from the Bay Area. I’m also from the Bay Area. I hope u enjoyed ur time in my home country. Perhaps, one day I will come back to VN and do the Ha Giang loop. For now I’m just living vicariously through people videos.
Hi! You are so cool and inspiring! I'm Just getting into biking and these trips you go on look unreal. I have a couple of possibly stupid questions, when you go on biking trips are you carrying camping gear and camping at all or staying in other hotels/accommodations? And Also where do you get your ideas for routes that are bike-friendly:) Thanks so much!
Amazing video! I’ve always wanted to get into bikepacking one day, so this is super inspiring! Also, doing the Ha Giang loop soon (on a motorbike though), and these views are getting me so excited!
Bikepacking is fun if you can get used to the idea of living in a tent while hauling your gears or in most cases, saddle bag and panniers, as you ride from one destination to the next.
🏍️I just did this in December, but with a group tour. WOW well done for solo biking!! The scenery is SOMETHING ELSE🤩 I also vlogged my experience on my channel🎥 I love your videos, keep them coming!❤x
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I am considering to do the same trip - also on a gravel bike :-) Do you have an gps file of the exact route you followed?
looks like the food was excellent. Any flats or technical difficulties? Was it difficult to find places to stay? The low gears were a god idea for the rough roads. Do you speak the language?
No flags or mech issues, thankfully. It wasn't that difficult finding places, it does come down to what you prefer and how you plan. Some can book a few days before, I planned a month ahead for accommodations. I spoke the essentials like hello, thank you, simple complimentary phrases and names of my favorite foods 😁, lol. Google translate is your buddy here.

You are such a brave young lady to undertake this amazing adventure, greatest of respect going your way.
Thanks!
Looks like the road is all going to be widened and paved in a couple of years. I see a lot of machinery, gravel, and rock blasting work.

Your video and your style is absolutely great....! Maybe a Little bit challenging to understand you sometimes because of the wind.
Thanks for watching! I noticed the wind too and am thinking of ways to minimize that in the future :)
