I decided to try my hand at a laser cut city map... Believe it or not it was easier than i thought.
Anyone with the right tools can do it!
Tools needed... YOU, Glowforge, Snazzymaps, Adobe Illustrator and your imagination!

Wow! Thanks for this video! I have a son in Austin and LOVE it down there! I’ve been hoping to make some of these layered maps for our friends up here in WI. MAJOR lightbulb moment when I saw your painting technique. What kind of paints do you use on the wood and acrylic? What types of woods do you use for the different layers? Just… THANK YOU so much for this inspiring video! It’s getting me motivated to finally get to work on a few projects just in time for Christmas gifts. :)

Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. The woods i used were 1/8" Sapele (finished) plywood and 1/8" white birch (finished) plywood.
The base layers were all 1/8" MDF.

Okay… Hate to ask yet another question… I see you fitting in pieces. What do you use as adhesive between layers? DO YOU SELL your items? I seriously would buy this Austin piece personalized for my son and new bride down there in Austin.

Usually you see these type maps just lasered. I LOVE how you cut yours out. The lines are nice and thick. You don’t have a video on how you create the maps in Snazzy Maps, do you? I’ve played around with it and it was really cumbersome. If not, could you share how you did yours? Thanks!
Nice content, but music is unbearable.
That pulsing music, just too annoying. Was the video good? I gave up after 1.10 because of crap music.
