Trivia: I met Phyllis in 1991 and we "connected".....just like that. I can't explain it but she and her staff treated me like royalty from that day on. I met Angela Bofill in 1996 briefly backstage then we and others headed over to a Detroit restaurant afterward. Angela mentioned about Phyllis' death as "truly sad" then mentioned "Clive went out diva shopping and came back with me and Phyllis". Hilarious. Say what you want about Clive Davis but "the man with the golden ears" certainly had them. Then along came Whitney for the golden parachute and, well, the rest is history.

Ms. Hyman was so beautiful! She deserves all the flowers. 🌹 She passed when I was just 7, but all I see is Jazmine Sullivan 😻🔥
The pain in her voice hits different...nobody wants to be alone 😔

Depression is REAL. I often wonder what music she would be singing now

I like to live alone. You have your peace, and that's something that you can't buy. you can shxt with the door open, walk around in your underwear, when it's your time of the month, you can heal in peace without no one in your face talking stupid, You can pray, read a book, make your personal dish you like to eat. I will never in life live with anyone again. Been married with step kids before. I don't have any kids, and don't want none. My finances and credit is the best. My boyfriend has his own house. I pay my bills. No worries, and that's the way it's going to be for life and our relationship is great just like it is. Don't have to answer to nobody. Life is good.
Amen! Sister peace of mind has no price silence is golden.
I still listen to your music. You was so talented. And very beautiful. Wishing you had gotten help. I can hear your pain in your songs. Rip beautiful lady.
This is probably her greatest song she ever sang.
still here 5/2021......WOWW, Phyllis was one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL...POWERFUL, SULTRY voices during her time (including Angela Bofil) I can still listen to her today like its my first time
...she ALWAYS gently nudges me to feel what shes singing, feeling...not many artist do this for me nowadays
I MISS HER immensely
People slept on her and Angela Bofill. They had some wonderful voices with a lot of emotion.
@@robk9685 ...woww, thank u so much for sharing this time capsule with us...and can u believe that there isa generation coming up that hasnt a clue about the (3) artist you and I just mentioned?? Im trying not to loose hope that there isnt anyone else out here who has ((Mastered his/her craft)) in singing.....its verrrry quiet out here, but until then, I have my short playlist
@@coquijean Embrace your "short playlist". I truly believe this isn't going to happen again....in my lifetime anyway.
I'm from Phyllis Hyman era , I still miss her very much.
Me too.
I loved her & her music. So sad she passed so early. Would have loved to see how her music would have evolved over the years.
When she sings that part "no, I don´t want to be alone"......The PAIN in her eyes is I N S A N E....!
Such a beautiful woman gone so tragic way too soon....I can´t stop to listen to Phyllis´ music.
I wish a lot of artists would sing as beautiful as this.
Right
Toni Redd does.
As soon as I Loved her... she was gone... RIP Beautiful Lady
I was born 1984 and I sang this in a booster seat in my parents cars.... now I'm 39... sad to hear how she passed
The late great Phyllis Hyman. A truly remarkable talent that left us way too soon. She's ome.of the greats, no doubt. So missed.
