While it's great that an original map is planned to be implemented, I am weary that the competitive insights teams will only work with forgers that will comply with their demands, and that worry comes from experience with the competitive community for many years. That's Microsoft bud not 343 only reason they are trying to make profit is bc Microsoft will shut them down if they don't. Just like MCC. But still they could at least focus on other stuff
I remade Boardwalk from Halo Reach, spent months making it, and published it. I don't expect it to be added to matchmaking, I made it for the players and for nostalgic gameplay. I'll keep forgoing for those reasons. Of anyone is interested the map is called "Concourse"
By all means, keep forging for those reasons. That's why we all started. But those of us engaged in this conversation simply want better handling of community maps by 343, and fair compensation for creators that get their creations into matchmaking after going through 100's of hours of playtesting/bug fixing to adhere to MM standards. And compensation doesn't have to be strictly monetary. I think most of us asking for something would be fine with some store credits, an Xbox gift card, or something like that. Just something more than a couple of customization items to show appreciation for the amount of work it takes to bring these maps up to quality standards.
Forgers just need to move on, they’ll listen when they’re not getting content anymore and the contracted studios can’t even get a map out for an operation. Also, Honestly, they need to yeet the pro team. Halo has been a sweatfest since they implemented them and that’s the exact opposite of every game from CE to 4. Halo is a social game that can be tuned for competitive, not a competitive game that new and lower skilled players can get stomped in and average/above average players live in perpetual frustration.

Many forgers who work with 343 and are well known in the community reached out to me and told me the same exact issues. These forgers mainly want their concerns to be heard about original content and using their maps for what they’re intended for. They also don’t want to cause a divide, they just want their concerns to be heard. Thank you all for watching!

The reason 343 doesn't want original made maps is because it would show an already obvious issue in spades; 343 is incapable of making their own maps, unlike what they did with Halo 4 and what Bungie was doing for years. 343 during production of Halo 4, for better or worse, at least TRIED to make maps. Not sure if they fired them all or relocated them to "other resources", but Halo 5 had far less original maps, and Halo Infinite has the less than the bare minimum we expect. In essence, original maps would show how pathetic 343 is at making original maps....basically it would take a glaring issue and turn up the brightness to that of the freaking Sun.
I just stop using forge altogether after considering the time it takes to develop a proper map to what was the reward anyways. Sure passion projects tend to be without monetary incentive but one just wonders what's the point. And seeing how Forge mappers get treated is nothing short of shameful. It's sad how infinite lacks the proper lines for UGC to get money or proper rewards, specially when Microsoft handles UGC for Minecraft Bedrock. Hell, not even anything from the Microsoft rewards program? Geez. And can higher ups just shut up? Clearly they don't care about the game so why the need to stomp on it too? Just cash your shit and get out. I can't believe 343 needs another shake on management. If it's as we think it is, then Halo will never as good as it should be, ever.
This will never happen but Microsoft need to put the limit on how much a game can charge for micro transactions. Like the highest amount being $15 and lowest being $1 nothing can be above that. They would be better than seeing $20-30 bundles all the time.
Having worked on 4 maps in MM, not all of them care about compensation to the level it is perpetrated. Please do not pass that ideal as the whole group of us. As a father and husband, I would not turn down compensation, but it is not why I forge.
It makes me sad. Infinite forge is amazing all the custom campaigns and custom firefight maps they made are amazing... It would even be better if forge with ai was ready at launch
if the forgers and fans still dangling just left theyd literally be fored to make the new game and hopefully make it right seeing how they are out of chances and opportunity. infinite failed as did 4 and 5. player base shrinks every title and year we go without a successful halo.
The data collected from public surveys is likely the reason for remakes being favored over original maps. This video is a little bit sensationalist but it is a welcomed conversation, forgers should be compensated but the "ask" really needs to come from a more professional tone and grounded in reality. Presently it seems Forge is still very competitive, so any void created will quickly be filled by those who genuinely love Halo and are passionate about the game and its mode. Alternatively, forgers can consult a lawyer on the subject and start a career as a independent contractor or joining Sperasoft and already partnered gaming studios.
Also forgers complaining about maps not being used for their own intended purpose should probably realign with 343 Industries, follow up on or give feedback. This video and overall noise will likely damage the reputation and relationship of forgers from being featured in the future.

As someone else that has Two maps in matchmaking this entire video is based on the opinion of approximately 2-6 people that have actually made matchmaking quality content and are familiar with the process being disused here. Some of these opinions are held by So few people that members of the community could identify them by name despite them not being named here. The game currently has over 65 Community created maps some of them made by TEAMS of people. Many of the opinions expressed here are NOT representative of the opinions of other forgers with content in matchmaking.
These are opinions shared by most forgers that forge competitive maps. You forge Husky Raid maps. You are a beneficiary of this incompetent system, and have a motive to maintain the status quo.

I think if a Forger makes an original map that gets into matchmaking they should be compensated for it in some way, either with a small payment to their account like 10 bucks or even just add the creator to the credits of the game. Either way since Forgers are essentially the only ones keeping Halo Infinite from flatlining, they deserve SOME kind of compensation for doing 343's jobs for them.

After the leadership shake up at 343 I was excited for the future of halo but now it seems like the new boss is a lot like the old boss.

This is exactly why I don’t make any maps with the intention to use it in matchmaking. If they want to be this strict they can make it themselves.

I have probably 150 maps that I've completed but have now deleted. Customs and 4v4 12v12 etc. totally gave up on forge

As a pro forger, I can agree with the frustration. So much amazing content out there that 343 can simply utilize for FREE.
Maybe the forge maps are not being added to ranked because they dont play well competitively? The remakes were made by Halo devs so they work well.
