Commercial from 1999. Recovered from VHS. Here is a previously uploaded German version of the same ad: • Video Cropped with Mpg2Cut2, and thus the cut may not be perfect.
Well, in the United States, Toy Story 2 was released on November 24th, while Hollywood Boulevard released it on November 13th, and Donkey Kong 64 was released on November 22nd in the same year the movie and game was released.
Wow of all the places to find an old Lazy comment... Haha Couldn't agree more though. Life was so simple back then and n64 helped those hours after school last forever! Been a fan of yours for years man! It was nice spotting this relic of yours on a less spooky side of UA-cam ;)
Never too late. I just recently bought this game at a local antique mall and truth is I’m having a blast! I realized you posted this comment 11 years ago and I would’ve agreed and thought it was too late but it’s truly not!
I remember getting this game when I was 6 years old. I remember how happy and excited I was picking it up from EB back in the day. The shiny new box with the art and the manual.

Robert Jindra But that wouldn't help increase sales. It's the same shit as blast processing AKA slighter better Hz than the snes, even though the snes was superior in terms of tech in every other way. Marketing bruh.
A bug that got fixed by adding more ram. Regardless something in the game kept crashing cause the system didn't have enough memory. So they're technically right.
Naminski well it makes sense now since Nintendo and universal are teaming up to make the Nintendo theme park at universal studios Orlando and Hollywood and they’re working on the animated remake on the super Mario bros movie (Hopefully they’ll do it right than 1993’s super Mario bros Movie)
I laughed when the people slipped on the banana peels as soon as they were running. Also, the “Look what they did to my taxi!” part, cannot get enough of that! And they started wreaking havoc around the whole neighborhood when it came to Donkey Kong, all the kremlings and a lot of doomsday devices!
Why does it seem like everything was more creative and better back then? And I KNOW it isn't just nostalgia telling me that. Everything is so bland now.
I know! I wish commercials were like this again! There are some creative commercials out there today, but maybe someday, commercial styles like this one will make a comeback.
How this Commercial alone isn't considered Meme Royalty will forever boggle my mind. All time Favorite Game. All time Favorite Commercial for my Favorite Game. Forever hoping for a Remake 🙏
I remember getting DK 64 for the first time when I was younger. It didn't came with the expansion pack and my mom ended up driving all the way back to Target because she was that eager to play it lol
If I remember correctly the average price of a newly released n64 game was 59.99, and this game was 70 instead, so they still added the cost of the expansion pack onto the bundle, it wasn't "included for free".
This game was part of my childhood. I always been a huge fan of nintendo 64 and Donkey 64 and I always will. Btw does anyone when the game first came out in the United States of America.
Usually most video games don’t use any elements from a cartoon show based on said video game...but not this game. I love how they incorporate the crystal coconut from the tv show in this game.
One of my favorite video games for the N64! Such an awesome and creative game! I was always best at Tiny Kong! Sure, beating it took time, but it was fun! I remember during the holidays that year it came out, my brother and I got the game for Christmas and we screamed and ran around the house and immediately started playing. This game REALLY meant a lot to me! XD
this was without a doubt my most favorite N64 game and it always will be. i remember that being the first game i got when i got my N64 and i remember not being able to find anything. (sigh) good times
The awesome thing about this game is that it can still be considered simply massive. Seriously, they throw so many things at you at once it's almost overwhelming. I ran through it a while ago and it took me a good 25 hours just to reach the end, let alone get 100%. Few games do that nowadays.
I love old school Mario commercials like this too! Especially DK. And just like music, the 1980s were Mario’s biggest decade! Matter fact, video games started around that time.
I remember first seeing this commercial, I was nine at the time and since I had all three Donkey Kong Country games and loved it, I begged the heck out of my dad to get it for me. I thought I did something wrong until Thanksgiving Day after we all ate, he had it in a Wal-Mart bag for me. That was the best Thanksgiving ever.
That's a good point actually. I hope they do release it on Virtual Console in the future, because Donkey Kong is my favourite Nintendo franchise, and I haven't played this one yet.
This game was huge. Spent a couple years just trying to get over 100% in this game, but I was only around 8 at the time so, yeah. Biggest game I ever played for the N64 definately. Awesome commercial. 5 stars :D
This commercial would not fly today
How dare they not tip a taxi driver!
That is true, especially since we live in a post-9/11 society where commercials like this would be seen as insensetive.
It wouldn’t fly today because they would say “why did you make a commercial for a 20 year old game?”
Monke
It would be considered racist
Is it because of the raise of taxes nowadays?
"Look what they did to my taxi!" XD
Lord Vader It almost sounded he said Look what they did to my backseat.
"They didn't even tip me!"
Nicholas Pozega “And now, this”
Heaven Help us All.
Narrator (Don Lafontaine): Donkey Kong is back, in an adventure so big, it’s taking the country by storm!
If only epic commercials like this were made again
I miss commercials like these
What's wrong with our new commercials
@@rolando90sToo sanitized and PC; no more edgy Bess and fun.
Fun Fact, this game was released the same day that "Toy Story 2" was released in theaters.
Fire Dust as a kid you would go to the movies and after buy this
wow
Fire Dust yeah that’s why they’re extremely successful during the holiday season of 1999
Well, in the United States, Toy Story 2 was released on November 24th, while Hollywood Boulevard released it on November 13th, and Donkey Kong 64 was released on November 22nd in the same year the movie and game was released.
@@George-zk4nv Good point.
THEY DIDINT EVEN TIP ME ( throws watermelon at taxi )
(News reporter) And now, this. (He ducks while looking away, and fruit being thrown against the wall)
So that is what he said. As a kid, I did not understand what he said at first.
I never got to play this :( wish i had i bet it was awesome. I miss the good old days when n64 was the best thing in the world !

I like the Mario 64 got milk commercial
Oh man! This commercial is such a priceless classic! I would love a sequel to this for the nintendo switch.
@usuario No, I meant to say I would love a sequel to Donkey Kong 64 for the switch.
Or a remaster of the game for the next gen Nintendo console
Lol at the pineapple flying into the fountain, that was so random!
Look what they did to his TAXI!!!!!!
Actually, the reason the game needed the Expansion Pak was because the game contained a bug that randomly crashed the game, and the Pak fixes it.
Robert Jindra But that wouldn't help increase sales. It's the same shit as blast processing AKA slighter better Hz than the snes, even though the snes was superior in terms of tech in every other way. Marketing bruh.
David Pedersen No need to get snippy. I was explaining the truth.
That's bullshit! The game requires the expansion pack to create better graphics, that's all.
Trurl no that’s the actual reason he not kidding

Lol you gotta love the Indian guy!! "Look what they did to my taxi!" LMAO

Hey look, its the clock tower from Back To The Future
This Donkey Kong 64 for Nintendo 64 commercial was filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood, the world's largest movie studio and theme park.
+Naminski Nguyen Yeah and you can see the BTTF Clock Tower, The Bates Motel, and many other iconic movie locations there!

"I'd like to say the situation under control... But it isn't." lol
The game is finally coming to the Virtual Console. :D
