This song is from 1979. Madonna sampled this one for 'Hung Up' (2005)(with the permission of Benny and Björn, of course). Timeless dance track👌. 10/10. ❤️🇨🇱🤗👍
Great ear, man! Loved watching your puzzlement and trying to figure it out, AND YOU NAILED IT! It's been said that Madonna pleaded with Benny and Bjorn for that sound bite. She even flew personally to Sweden. The guys are very protective of their music rights.
I read that Benny and Bjorn was at first not going to give her permission for that bit of the song. However they loved Madonna so much, they changed their minds. Also when she finished the song and all, she flew to the Sweden to play it in font of them (B and B) before she released it to the public. If I remember, the article said they loved it!
This was arguably ABBA's most influential track as its emphasis on electronics made it a very important record for techno musicians in the post-disco era. Madonna's "Hung Up" is based on this track, and Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson are included in its songwriting credits. The only previous time ABBA had allowed one of their songs to be sampled was in 1996 when they allowed the Fugees to sample the bass and synthesizer of 1977's "The Name Of The Game" for their 1996 hit "Rumble in the Jungle." Madonna begged the ABBA songwriters for permission to sample this song and sent an emissary to Stockholm telling them how much she liked their music.
Yes Madonna sampled the killer riff.It was the 2nd time Abba allowed this.First time was for The Fugees in 1996.A black hip hop band. They were given permision to sample part of Abba's 'The name of the Game" for their single 'Rumble in the Jungle".
In 2005, the song was sampled by Madonna, who used it on her worldwide hit single "Hung Up" from "Confessions on a Dance Floor". Madonna is said to have sent a letter to Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus asking to use the song as a sample, since the Swedish songwriting duo are reluctant to let other artists sample their material. It was only the second time that an ABBA track had been officially sampled, the first being the Fugees in 1996 with their hit "Rumble in the Jungle", sampling part of 1977's "The Name of the Game"
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) (1979) was sampled in Hung Up by Madonna (2005) Bob Marley by Gucci Mane (2013) Pump Up (Gimme Gimme Gimme) by Team X (2005)
Have you listen to there songs Voulez Vous, Kisses Of Fire,That´s Me , Does Your Mother Know, Lay All Your Love On Me, As Good As New. They are great dancetracks to.
The good news is they didn’t only release songs with the same word repeated three times :-) They had nothing but hits in the 1970s. Just ridiculously talented. For me, some of their more interesting tracks are album tracks. Eagle is one, and The Visitors - the title track from their final album, is another. But it’s very hard to find a bad ABBA song.
ABBA was really a very talented and versatile swedish group that recording between 1972/1982 (and now comeback in 2021) and leads in 70s decade: two excellent musicians songwriters (guitarist Björn & pianist Benny) two top female singers (blonde Agnetha & brunette Frida) (before ABBA they each had her solo career in Sweden) remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of your first names, and was two couples from 1969: Agnetha & Björn; Benny & A.Frida Agnetha & Björn split at end 1978 Benny & Frida split at begin of 1981 "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever" from the year before In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has ABBA was preparing their 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the video This is the only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio, including staff musicians (bass guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector) The official vídeo is a short versión, the recording of the single is more than 4 1/2 minutes (with a solo instrumental) The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of Benny's keyboards, is what Madonna used for her well-known hit "Hung Up" (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits) Surely for the latter, with 300 million views, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on UA-cam (behind "Dancing Queen", which has 600 million views) For a new reaction I suggest: "Voulez Vous" or "As good as new" both on "Voulez Vous" album (1979) Thank you again for these video See you in the next ; GOD bless you My best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina
You should listen to a Scottish band who were out about 4 years before ABBA they are called ( Middle of the Road ) they say that ABBA copied there style

Best Band Ever
Often overlooked, but this song has an amazing funky bassline underneath it
They were my first live concert ...I love abba since 1974
yes mine as well in 1977 Sidney Myer Music Bowl March 1977 Melbourne Australia

This is the short version without the long instrumental bridge!
You would love ”If it wasnt for the nights” with Abba
Fun reaction.
One of the best groups ever. ❤
I was feeling down so the doctor told me to take two ABBA songs every day 🐈⬛🐈🫂❤️
You had more fun listening to that song than some people have in their whole life😆
These reactions are the only time that I clear my mind to have fun. When the camera is turned off. It's work time
Me encanta que la gente disfrute la música de mi banda favorita...😄
Madonna sampled it for her song Hung up. Every little thing that you say and do, I'm hung up, hung up on you.

Bob Marley by Gucci Mane (2013)

💞ABBA🍒 FOREVER💕
Masterpiece 🔥
Sadly this is the short version without the long instrumental bride! Madonna sampled this in Hang up
If you see musicians play their own music with real instruments, it means they are the originators. Madonna sampled this decades later.
The good news is they didn’t only release songs with the same word repeated three times :-)

Great reaction! Glad you enjoy the beat so much! 🎶🎶🙋♀️
So good
Nice reaction dude, next 'Summer night city' officell or live🇸🇪
Please, could you react to "Summer Night City" from ABBA in 1978 (it sounds like to "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! - A Man After Midnight")?
LIVE performance please😊
ABBA was really a very talented and versatile swedish group that recording between 1972/1982
(and now comeback in 2021)
and leads in 70s decade:
two excellent musicians songwriters
(guitarist Björn & pianist Benny)
two top female singers
(blonde Agnetha & brunette Frida)
(before ABBA they each had her solo career in Sweden)
remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of your first names, and was two couples from 1969:
Agnetha & Björn; Benny & A.Frida
Agnetha & Björn split at end 1978
Benny & Frida split at begin of 1981
"Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever" from the year before
In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has
ABBA was preparing their 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the video
This is the only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio,
including staff musicians (bass guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector)
The official vídeo is a short versión, the recording of the single is more than 4 1/2 minutes (with a solo instrumental)
The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of Benny's keyboards, is what Madonna used for her well-known hit "Hung Up" (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits)
Surely for the latter, with 300 million views, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on UA-cam (behind "Dancing Queen", which has 600 million views)
For a new reaction I suggest:
"Voulez Vous" or "As good as new"
both on "Voulez Vous" album (1979)
Thank you again for these video
See you in the next ; GOD bless you
