    another question raised is that i thaught i heard a fire house siren going off at the being of the video and then saw/ heard you pass another pov heading into town . do you not have to go to the fire house in your deparment??? in new york im only allowed to drive to the scene if told by commanding officer, or i drive up on it.

    • @investigatorsf
      @investigatorsf  8 років тому

      +Nathan Stark yes the fire siren was going off, the rescue was on the way to scene and the other guy was going to pick up engine, i went directly to scene with my pov to set up advanced warning to protect the scene, 2 ambulances were on scene and rescue from next dept was about on scene of mva which was 1/2 mile from there station, we dont have very many people to respond sometimes, it is up to the fire chief here in wv how they do things, some other depts require you to be at standby at station to run a call some depts near here dont let anyone use lights and sirens. yesterday we had a brush fire and i went to station and picked up brush truck because my pov aint set up to fight brush fires, and of course i did not make a video of me driving across the street to pick up a truck. we all pretty much know what each of us will do when we get a call its a small dept , last winter during the snow storm i was out pulling trees out of road with my jeep and helping cut up trees that were too big.

      Technically you can run radar in your car. If you are a HAM radio operator this is actually approved by the FCC for those with a Technician class or higher certificate. Off the shelf portable and mobile radar equipment is available if you look around. Most of it is X band. In most instances for mobile applications I would check your local laws as in some cases it could constitute jamming or the attempt to do so. Most cops are going to be worried about the guy in the P71 with antenna's all over it rigged with lights and a RADAR. There are always nut cases that want to impersonate a cop. If the guy has the ok from local LEO, meaning the Sheriff then that is pretty much the end of it. Where I live volunteer FF can only go 10 to 15 over the limit and SHP is VERY strict about that. We have had guys die driving too fast. You need to get there in one piece to be of help.

      +Camel Crush this man is not an idiot, he is very much appreciated for his service, however alot of volunteers like to overload POVs with equipment. what some local officers in people they know may just turn and look the other way it just means trouble later on when they are caught by the right person.. Lights are ok mostly with permit.. i know for fact having a siren is equivalent to running and blue lights which is a big no no regardless of rank in any volunteer department.. Small towns are usually the ones who let it slide, and by any means i would just keep to my business however larger places or certain towns have strong restrictions. The radar unit is puzzling.. why would you want one is my first question.. but also without a license from the FCC, it is a federal crime.. Part90 of the FCC requires a license mostly to those running these units.. While there may be no law, doesnt make it (ok) to have or do something... has this is often a topic in court.. you can still get in trouble regardless and for him IT IS a matter of time

      +Anakin Howard alot of states have different first responder laws regarding lights. here in NY (upstate) volunteer firefighters are permitted to have blue lights, chiefs can have reds and a siren, volunteer EMT's can have a green light. some states allow all firefighters to have reds/ red\white and a siren, all depends on where youre at.. regarding that radar unit? nonsense. leave the policing to the police. no need for a radar unit on a first responder vehicle

    wait a moment let me understand it: placing your vehicle against the flow of traffic and placing 3 cones and a stop sign (btw. why a stop sign?) is "advanced warning" for you? The car seems to be black, either a poor colour scheme or a POV, but to be honest: I wouldn't dare to park a fully marked emergency vehicle like that, even with high-lighted body-colours and reflecting stripes / shapes on it. Don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't dare sth like that, especially due to the higher speeds on our federal roads and highways, and nothing car-based would be called "advanced" warning setup. We'd rather set up some 12' high trailer-based warning signs, on such roads probably two of them in some distance behind each other, to really grap the attention of ANY driver approaching, even at high speeds

    • @investigatorsf
      @investigatorsf  7 років тому

      first off it aint high speed road , it is 65 mph us hwy not even interstate, this accident was blocking lanes for under a hour and that is why we use advanced warning for temporary incidents, if this would be a long duration incident we would have called in doh and they would have placed cones and arrow board signs to do it, and for your information the sign we have says stop on one side and slow on the other it is used for flagging and traffic control, and if the stop sign is facing the camera then that means slow is facing oncoming traffic, and the reason i faced oncoming traffic is because i have more lights and bright led high beam flashers to get attn in the sunny day light plus my dash cam would record traffic , and yes black pov is not ideal for visibility but as vol that is what color i got, i dont mind answering questions, but google this MUTCD mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/

      learning.respondersafety.com/ here is a online training site that we use in usa to train in traffic control for first responders

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 7 років тому +2

      we set up the very same signs, no matter if it's a highway section with a speed limit of just 50 mph, or an unlimited one where you can legally drive at 150 and beyond, and it doesn't play a role if the scene is there for jsut half an hour or a whole day. The FD rolls out with an apapratus pulling the traffic safety trailer (when set up it's 12' high, all reflective rear with both arrow traffic sign and several amber lights forming arrows) at the 1st alarm of any highway incident, depending on the location they immediately dispatch a 2nd one even if it's just a plain normal accident scene which will be cleared within a short time; Cones will be placed all theway, from the point where the lanes merge in front of the trailer, to the point behind the scene;
      Ah okay thanks for the information concerning the sign with two different sides.
      These are the kind of traffic safety trailer which roll out at the 1st alarm of an highway incident:
      www.ff-heldenstein.de/aktive/fahrzeuge/Foto%20VSAb.JPG
      We usually have only 2 to 4 emergency lights on a marked car-based emergency vehicle, the few POVs from county fire chiefs / emergency doctors usually have one single beacon light; All other normal fire-fighters aren't allowed to run POVs with lights and sirens and are not supoosed to respond to the scene, but get to the station and roll out with the actual fire trucks.
      Even with an emergency vehicle marked with so extremly eye-catching colour schemes with reflecting red, lgith-red and yellow shapes and stripes and numerous LED lights I wouldn't place that unt to secure a scene:
      ua-cam.com/video/t6NMPTkkPd8/v-deo.html
      Depending on the speed on the specific road section, besides the warning trailer right in front of the scene, there might be 2 or even 3 further ones placed way ahead of the scene to warn traffic on time , even in small incidents like a car which slipped of the road surface but didn't really crash

      a brandnew traffic safety trailer with the lights and batteries costs € 15k, approx. US$ 16.4k, and it lasts for more than one year ... with only minor maintenance costs it can last for 2 decades. It would be even
      more affordable if some people in American FDs would place "only" 10 lights instead of 30 lights on their apparatus and POVs ...even tiny volunteer departments have to run them here, departments which only have 2 apparatus and kept on switching from on used apapratus to another one and again to another one before they received a new one after some decades; We'd rather keep away a fancy colour scheme than parts for our safety.

      70% of all firefighters in the United States are volunteer and 55% of EMS providers are volunteer. Many rural departments rely on volunteers coming from home to provide man-power and get multiple apparatus out on large incidents. If your were having an emergency would you want the people responding to have to wait for slow traffic? Volunteers are equally trained to paid firefighters and EMS personnel and function the exact same way. Volunteers save tax payers billions of dollars annually while providing the same level of service.

    Many questions about the radar, so i am posting it >>>>>> 1st reason is to document my speed on video and the others coming towards me along with my gps unit, i have had crazy people call in false complaints against me in Louisiana where i vol. before and everyone believed them instead of me. Also documentation in any accident that may occur and that is purpose of video also. 2nd reason is a person that is in front of me may not be paying attn and not see me and if they just happen to have a radar detector then it goes off and they look behind them see my lights and let me pass safely, 3rd reason i used to do safety for trucking companies and clock trucks on hwys to make sure they were not speeding and driving unsafe. i was for a short time a reserve deputy sheriff and swat team medic in Louisiana and was trained in radar use. 4th reason we have very curvy blind spots in mountains in west virginia and the radar will pick up oncoming traffic most of the time and then i know to stay in my lane and to be prepared to stop quick if they come into my lane. i take safety very personally and feel its my best interest to not cause any harm going to help others in harm & another reason, i was on my way to visit my mom in myrtle beach sc, and i was traveling thru tubeville sc doing 35 mph in a 35 zone and my mom warned me about the crooked cops there giving out false speeding tickets to make money off people, well i was stopped and given a ticket for going 48 mph in a 35 mph zone when i was not and had no evidence to prove my case, now i have 3 things to prove my speed radar gps and video with embedded gps.

      Ricky, that is a good idea but when you go excessive speeds like you did on the video the radar unit quits showing the speed. That's a fault with the unit you are using. With that in mind you may want to slow down a little and let your theory work. And you might not get as many complaints.

    Since when does an emergency vehicle have to obey the speed limit when it's siren is on? That's just stupid.

    • @radciff2281
      @radciff2281 4 роки тому +1

      Always. Not always strict but speed limits are there for safety. I see where you're coming from, but on the other hand, the first task is to get there alive.. Driving yourself off the road because you lost control of your vehicle at a bend is a good way to not succeed at that. Highways are less strict but same concept. There's some more to it than that but mostly lights and siren are for other vehicles to yield to you.

Red or blue light, move to the right, not pull into oncoming traffic when siren was clearly audible and he could have pulled on to side road. Solid yellow line. Giant balls you have. I was an emt in Indiana and Kentucky. ROads in West Virginia are different. Good job clearing intersections. We ALWAYS made traffic go to the right and stayed in the left lane. Good video and good driving. No point becoming a 10-50 yourself.

    Here in Illinois light laws are nuts, if your in northern Illinois (such as the Chicago area) law enforcement uses blue lights and FFs and EMT/paramedics use red, red/white but when you get to southern Illinois law enforcement uses red or red/blue and all FFs, first responders, EMTs, paramedics use blue or blue/white and EMTs I think can now use green, green/white,green/blue or green/white. It's nutty.

But there is no such thing as organs your thinking of Amber.

    Hey, I ask again you, how fast do you can drive with lights and siren in your US State? Here in Thailand is it depends the streets only, so fast as possible. Specially in Ko Samui ;-) You can't be loud enough, the most driver stops only for Police and Military. Lights be allowed all, christmas tree on car save life in this buddhist country. In Germany only regulary fire apparatus and emercency vehicle can run with blue light and siren, haven't red light and yellow light be allowed as warning for standing cars if accident. The speed is not limited! Fire chiefs can use own car with light and siren, but they know they unmarked! For trucks, slow driving tractors and so on is yellow light without siren allowed.

    Well in my opinion, I have never seen someone needing to have a radar in their vehicle unless they are truly law enforcement, but even then, how many officers have a radar in their personal vehicle?! The other thing is, this is the first time I have watched a POV have one on their vehicle, let alone, a fire and rescue responder having to have one in their vehicle. I know a Fire Chief who has his Chief vehicle at home and works for the Police and doesn't have a radar in any of his cars. Honestly, having it in your vehicle, does give off the wrong impression or message and you should really look at finding another way to do what you need to do to monitor your speed. It just spells trouble and does look like you are impersonating a cop.
    At least where I am from, you would be pulled over and they could charge you for having that Radar in your car with the lights setup like so.

    • @Papa7Bravo
