The died-in-childbirth thing that was mentioned in I think a superchat evokes the Silmarillion-we are told that when Míriel (1st wife of Finwë) died giving birth to Féanor, her spirit and all her energy went into him and that is why he had such creative power relative to even other high elves, and he went on to create the Silmarils among other ridiculously powerful magical items. So I think this concept is from Tolkien.
Way late to this party but just needed to say - holy cow you just blew my mind with Mirri Maz Duur's resurrection magic being basically the same thing that needs to happen to Jon. It just makes So Much Sense! It's just hidden right there in plain sight for us if you know what to look for. And it ties right into the possible Ifequevron warg/greenseer history too. It just all fits together so smoothly, I love it. Great analysis. Thanks David, for all you do and hand-over-fist being the most intelligent and observant creator in this community.

Maybe Drogo wasn't cut out to be resurrected. It messed up Dondarrion, Lady Stoneheart and a bunch of other people. Depending on what you do or don't see on the other side and how dead you are it seems to make a difference, as well as the method of resurrection.

In terms of why Valeria's wars took so long, my head cannon has always been that it was the Valerian's own fault. There doesn't seem to have been one central authority in the Freehold, and if you think about a bunch of different families all having access to dragons, there's not a whole lot of incentive for them to work together but I could totally see each family being at least a bit full of themselves and thinking they don't need the other families. That could have resulted in only a few dragons being involved in each of the battles of their wars since only one family might have been taking the initiative at any given time, or the dragon riders might have been more concerned with internal power struggles or being wary of other dragon lords and thus wouldn't have wanted to commit their full power to the battles they fought with other nations.
Basically, they were the Sith of the "new Sith wars" on Essos, or at least they got the "powerful yet fragmented" aspect. Explains why they never conquered their entire freaking world in 5000 years having dragons and crazy sorcery at their disposal.
Gilly seems to believe wights are attracted to her baby because they can sense the life within it. When the wights came for Sam and Gilly, literally only one out of like ten went for Sam, and it was Small Paul, who wasn't very bright even when he was among the living. So if the life force of a child has more live, and Dany seems to have used some form of blood sacrifice to reawaken her dragons from their dormant state, combined with them growing pretty damn fast, could Dany have called forth the spirit of Rhaego and essentially divided up his soul (given Melisandre's shadow babies appear to each be fragments of Stannis' own spirit. All are him yet multiple can be made and used separately) between her three dragon hatchlings? This would be eerily similar to what you've speculated the ancient Valyrians/Empire of the Dawn did to form the dragon bond, by sacrificing a family member to place an ancestor spirit inside the dragon. What if it doesn't have to be an ancestor? What if what matters most is simply how closely you match the bloodline of the one whose spirit/shadow was bound? Perhaps even using a child would channel even more power into the dragon itself, which given that GRRM is choosing to not do the time skip for Winds and Dany's dragons are growing pretty damn fast, could explain why her dragons are growing so much faster than the last Targaryen dragons. The Dragon Pit and possible interference from Maesters is supposedly what did the dragons in last time (plus the Dance), but I've seen some speculate that dragons more closely tied to blood magic could have been stronger, explaining some of Balerion's power.
Wait I just had a thought about Dawn, on the note of it maybe being a glass candle. It was made from a falling star, which is a meteor, and the sword of the last hero is dragon steel. The moon meteors were called dragons, and a sword made from a "dragon" that is a powerful metal might be called "dragon steel" So it isn't a glass candle in the sense of being frozen fire, but it may still have magical properties on account of it being made from space metal
3 black candles = 3 heads of the dragon (black being color of Targaryen) 1 Green candle = Brandon, a green seer The 4 candles just kinda point to endgame heroes/sorcerers, that’s my best guess
If ghosts body is used to resurrect jon and it gives him paler hair that also means if his parents are Lyanna and Rhaegar that he’d end up look more Valyrian. And since the Bloodstone emperor would have had the pale hair of a Valyrian bc he was a dragon lord his eyes would’ve been red to coincide with his title as Bloodstone Emperor which means if Jon has the red eyes of ghost he literally will look like the bloodstone emperor
About midstream there were so many great ideas floating around I had to pause the video to gather my thoughts! I love the idea of Mirri Maz Duur trying to bring the horse's spirit into Drogo. Evil! Did Drogo like carrots afterwards? And very much looking forward to a Shadowbinder video after what you said about binding shadows to the dead bodies in resurrection rituals. Happy moving!
I can’t believe I missed this! It’s my name day, and I for once wasn’t on UA-cam. Either way, I’m excited for this.. I had many questions for this one. Maybe I’ll get some answers from others’ questions.
I still think Dawn is a sword of pale fire from Dany's vision, dragonsteel blades forged by the Great Empire of the Dawn. Valyrian steel is much the same but uses a slightly different technique and therefore produces the darker rippled dragonsteel of the Freehold.
If you're talking about an actual steel sword adding more zinc and reducing the amount of chromium lead will make it white as opposed to a darker color. Lol
I believe dragonbone is a component used in the creation of valyrian steel. Dragon bone is black, strong like steel yet lighter, much like valyrian steel. Blood magic, dragonbone and dragonfire is probably the recipe to create dragonsteel.
The idea of a skinchanger resurrection ritual and the consequences of doing it on a non-skinchanger blew my mind. Although it makes me scared for Ghost...

I definitely believe that the Fisher Queens are the sister race of the Children of the Forest. Hearing you talk about what's older than the Great Empire of the Dawn (and mentioning the Fisher Queens) really cements that theory for me. The Disputed Lands theory about the Mazemakers, Fisher Queens, and Leng really started to get me thinking about it, and as Leng has female primogeniture and the Old Ones are still supposedly there, it makes me think that the Fisher Queens ARE the Old Ones, or at least descendents of them. The Fisher Queens were highly looked up to, and basically worshipped by their cultural neighbors. And who's to say that the "Green Men" aren't actually women? I'm not sure about that one and don't have it all fully worked out in my head, but it seems plausible that thousands of years of male dominated society (except for Leng, where the Old Ones still seem to hold influence), especially since calling the human race in Planetos is just called the race of Men or Man, could have easily distorted things. The Children of the Forest seem to be a female dominated society (or at least gender neutral), so it would stand to reason that their potential cousin race could actually be a sister race 🤷 idk. Just some thoughts

I completely missed the whole attempt to cancel LML, but since I discovered him through his fascinating collaborations with IDG I really hope that they'll work together again in the future!
What do you think about the theory that the Empire of the Dawn didn't have dragons, but instead used fire wyrms to build their fused stone structures. And then the purpose of Azor Ahais ritual was to create dragons to rule the world with. This either purposely or accidentally/indirectly led to the long night
Just as awesome as always Lucy! =) I´ve been following Quinn & You for probably the last 5 years now and absolutley fell in love with this nerdy communiy
LML I've listened to most of your stuff and I don't remember you touching on food much. With the deeply human aspect of food and communion do you think there might be potential themes/foreshadowing/literary devices tucked into the descriptions of the feasts? Characters consuming symbols of other characters, night kings eating moon maidens and the like.
For food, I think the shape and color are easy to analyze as a start. Then I would look at whether it is a creator of life (fruit, egg, seed) or dead (meat, poultry, fish) and the origin (water, tree, forest, farm, etc) and what group is tired to it (house symbols or bonded pets). It is tricky but kinda fun in its ambiguity. A white or red fruit might connect to weirwoods, a round fruit tart could be motherhood, or a feast with mostly meat dishes could symbolize death or predation.
I very much enjoyed your take on potential reasons for the Targs not "taking" the Valyrian sorcery with them to Westeros. I'd not heard any other ASOIAFers ever posit on that! Goot verk 👸🏼 Do you reckon you could possibly please share the link to your essay? Cheers 💗 P.S. Congrats on the move and the big leap forward for you both ☮️
Yeah your personality screams west coast.. I live in Portland and you'd fit in perfectly up here. Cheers LmL thank you for the streams man. I really look forward to these.
Late the the party but if George ever got into crystals meanings each color of obsidian represents something different. Black obsidian is for psychic protection. Green obsidian is a truth enhancer. Red is good for bloodflow. Purple clears out mental blocks.
Maybe the differing coloured dragon glass is like the different coloured eyes that Dany sees in her dream? Like the different colours represent different houses of Dragon lords so they are different dragon glass for the different rulers of old Valyria
A random note that I have about chemistry is the obsidian is extremely high in magnesium. Magnesium when added to steal prevents corrosion and also alters the chemical composition of the steel making it stronger significantly and changes the color to a lighter color. I think that if George RR Martin is a chemistry fan, Lightbringer or the sword Dawn might be dragging glass AKA obsidian smelted down with a valyrian steel sword.
another hint for ancient dothraki skinchangers are the zorses of the Jogos Nhai. The Jogos Nhai seems related to the Dothraki and they ride zorses wich resembles real life zebras. Zebras are known for their temper and are very hard to tame animals. And no one would ride one in real life.
Hey David I've been working through your channel by watching the playlists in reverse chronological order, only straying when you start a video by strongly recommending I watch a certain other video beforehand that I hadn't seen yet. Am I doing it right or is there a better order to go with?
I mean that works, but I’d also give the playlists tab a try. They’re organized by topic and some of the sequential videos are in the right order. Also if you haven’t tried one of the old podcast series - Moons of Ice and Fire or Weirwood compendium - that’s the deep magic
@@DavidLightbringer Yeah that's what I mean! I've been watching the playlists! I started with the earlier ones and am working my way toward present day ones. And absolutely loving it. You've done a superb job of organizing it all :) And the old podcast series are some of my favorites. I find the long ones fly by because it's just super interesting to me!
Is your girl a content creator, as well as an ASOIAF fan? Give me a yes or no to that question! The fandom needs a UA-cam power couple. 😂 Best of luck bro.
In some other literatures when a person gains control of a set of magics they can gain control of any practitioners of it also. I would find it interesting if she could just shut down certain powers
I may or may not have gotten my friend who only watched GoT and HotD now taking on the task of reading ASOIAF in full because I shared so many of your videos trying to explain broad strokes of the great empire of the dawn...now I am pretty sure I have created a fully fledged Mythical Astronomy fan who is reading the books to fully grasp your theories. Ya know as long as they read the book rofl 🤣 they are my first successful "read ASOIAF so we can be weird lore nerds together" convert of my show only friends
@@DavidLightbringer we are both happy to support your content! We had a question though, have you played the Dragon Age Series of games? (we both are massive fans) and given how deep you go into lore we were just talking and said "wonder if LML would be into DA". If you haven't and are looking for something to sink your teeth into we both think you would love all the symbolism, myth parallels and massive amount of deep lore the world of Thedas has to offer. I have been picking apart the codex entries and additional content (comics, novels, short stories) for several years and honestly everytime I pick up the game much like ASOIAF i discover new bits. Just thought i would suggest it even if you never make content on it though i would love to pick your brain about about couple lore points from that game Have! LOL Have a wonderful rest of your day!
I think the roynar and ghis resisted for so long because they fought the foot soldiers wasn’t it that they didn’t send 300 dragons after the roynar until a few battles were lost
I also moved across the country on my own when I was 20, except in reverse: from the West Coast to the East Coast. My parents are a very conservative brand of Christianity, too, and abusive. I love Dany and her story arc. I acknowledge she will likely have a dark turn, but I agree that's what is in her heart is justice.
Can't remember if you saw parts this when I posted stuff earlier, so apologies if I'm repeating myself; but since you asked. I believe there is too much Tolkien "delved too deep" and the "destruction of Krypton" Superman movies allusions not to think "The Doom" was a Darwin self-pwn. I've been too busy for my response to the Tyrion in Mereen vid, but his being a slave are major hints about the Doom. Lannisters didn't have gold mines, Targaryens did. Lannisters sold slaves to Targaryens for gold, Gerion isn't looking for Brightroar, he's trying to reopen the Targaryen mines with stonemen. Tyrion being a farcical symbol of their houses' role karmic retribution, as now a Lannister, turned slave, sells off ill gotten gains from the slaves they traded for. The just 2 dragons burrowed in the pyramid, one can imagine swarms of dragons and the foundation damage done added to excessive mining.
Thank you so much for your insightful analyses. In that order, regarding Daenerys's path, maybe GEORGE is just rewriting Shining. Daenerys is Danny, and the Others, the Church of Starry Wisdom, The Undying etc are just different incarnations of the Overlook Hotel, evil entities from the astral plane who wants to absorbs Danni's powers (id Dragons)
Wad up doe hope you’re doing well. Love the content your channel is criminally underrated. b But it just makes me sad that your a Warriors fan… lol Peace and wholeness fam
Just a thought, but if a meteorite strike caused the long night, wouldn't the cataclysm of Valeria have brought another long night, because if that many volcanoes erupted as badly as they said they did, wouldn't that have brought on a Volcanic Winter for how many years after the eruptions?
I mean the one doesn’t really have anything to do with the other. In all honesty a volcano explosion is big is the doom probably should have caused at least some sort of temporary coverage of the sky, but we don’t hear about that. Except over Valyria I guess. It’s only as realistic as the author wants it to be.
@@DavidLightbringer not saying they do, but it's well documented that bad volcanic explosions can cause similar conditions as would a large meteor strike. Krakatoa being a good example. For three years after, the whole world reported weak sun, colder temps, crops failing, worldwide famine. Was just pondering it over in my head that if a meteor strike cause the Long Night, fourteen major volcanoes going nuclear at the same time would have many year ramifications as well. I may be getting too literal with it, but I'm a bit of a nerd in volcansism and natural disasters such as what we are discussing. It's just bugging me that I know what happens after a large cataclysmic volcanic such as Krakatoa to give an example of a truly large, destructive eruption will do to the weather and such after. And what happened in Valyria sounds like fourteen Krakatoas on meth going off. So, it just made me wonder why nothingile that happened after the destruction.
Hey man love the videos! Just gonna ask this here. One thing that always bothered me about Jon Snow is he feels like a predestined character. Think of all the potential tragedies house Stark has survived. Foremost amung them being what if Ageon had just torched the Stark that knelt? Do you think Daneys the Dreamer dreamt that far ahead as to see Jon snows birth? Potentially swaying ageons decision years later? A man who built a throne from the broken swords of his conquered enemies doesn't strike me as a fair and just in war.
I'm a new fan of this channel and I like your theory about the Targaryens causing the doom. But one thing I'm missing: didn't Aenar continue to make and sell Valyrian steel products after he left Valyria? How could he have made these weapons without using the sorcery that made Valyria a slave empire?
It’s unclear in the text of AWOIAF, but they only talk about selling V-steel before the doom, and never mention the selling or making of V-steel after the doom

Characters consuming symbols of other characters, night kings eating moon maidens and the like.
Yes, some. Basically the symbolism loves everywhere... the food symbolism can be tough though, unless there are eggs haha
Best wishes to all four of you ;)
Oh my God they were roommates 😳
Sad I missed this one 😓
I very much enjoyed your take on potential reasons for the Targs not "taking" the Valyrian sorcery with them to Westeros. I'd not heard any other ASOIAFers ever posit on that! Goot verk 👸🏼 Do you reckon you could possibly please share the link to your essay? Cheers 💗
P.S. Congrats on the move and the big leap forward for you both ☮️
So I was referring to the “Doom Was An Inside Job” and “Doom was an Abolition” videos. Pathetic second for the specific thing you’re talking about
Great subject, loved the video !
Good luck buddy!!
Excellent
Yeah your personality screams west coast.. I live in Portland and you'd fit in perfectly up here. Cheers LmL thank you for the streams man. I really look forward to these.
Love your videos man, keep them coming! Oh lord of UA-cam, please accept this comment as an offering to the algorithm god!
totally would love a green knight review
Late the the party but if George ever got into crystals meanings each color of obsidian represents something different. Black obsidian is for psychic protection. Green obsidian is a truth enhancer. Red is good for bloodflow. Purple clears out mental blocks.
Lord of Likes humbly accept my comment, as an offering to the algorithm.
GOOD LUCK, WITH THE MOVE!!!
LML whats the best way to msg you about an idea/ something you need to hear? It's obviously regarding figuring this nonsense out?
Maybe the differing coloured dragon glass is like the different coloured eyes that Dany sees in her dream? Like the different colours represent different houses of Dragon lords so they are different dragon glass for the different rulers of old Valyria
Could be...
I would add a Superman allusion: movie crystals technology, and Kryptonite
Ah, the likes were on 420, I almost didn't want to press it
I sure do love me some LML
Sword of Shannara!

PRAISE GARTH
You've done a superb job of organizing it all :)
And the old podcast series are some of my favorites. I find the long ones fly by because it's just super interesting to me!
Is your girl a content creator, as well as an ASOIAF fan? Give me a yes or no to that question! The fandom needs a UA-cam power couple. 😂 Best of luck bro.
Not a content creator no, but a big fan. I’ll get her on camera some time probably
Hey lml..plz a video on rickon 🙏🙏
I relate to your and Dany's strong sense of justice. And I too had to move to find my people... only to Europe!
I am the blood of Old Valyria I will take what is mine with fire and blood I will take it.
🔥💥🐉🐲🐉💥🔥
An extra comment to appease the algorithm gods!
In some other literatures when a person gains control of a set of magics they can gain control of any practitioners of it also. I would find it interesting if she could just shut down certain powers
Maybe Marwyn, with his glass candle, will advise Dany not to blow the horn?
Did I hear an hour long moon meteor video coming? 😏
Yesssss
Rewatch binge 🎉
is this a side gig or does LML have different full time job?
He said at times, he's fulltime YTber. With his fan response/video release amount, how can he not be?
What's dawn's connection to the long night and the wights. Is it effective? Where's the importance. Yes it's special but why?
I may or may not have gotten my friend who only watched GoT and HotD now taking on the task of reading ASOIAF in full because I shared so many of your videos trying to explain broad strokes of the great empire of the dawn...now I am pretty sure I have created a fully fledged Mythical Astronomy fan who is reading the books to fully grasp your theories. Ya know as long as they read the book rofl 🤣 they are my first successful "read ASOIAF so we can be weird lore nerds together" convert of my show only friends
Well this is music to my ears!! It’s teamwork, reeling em in!
Hey, I haven't got the arctype of the dragon frozen in ice. Any recommendations?
I think the roynar and ghis resisted for so long because they fought the foot soldiers wasn’t it that they didn’t send 300 dragons after the roynar until a few battles were lost
They did fight dragons before, just never that many in one battle.
And no wonder, can you imagine the logistics of keeping 300 dragons in one place?
Where is Azor Ahai's dragon in the myth and why do i feel it screamed in ecstasy and agony?
haha it's conspicuous by it's absence isn't it
SFO Yay Area!! 415 pride 🐥🍼! Love you D!
Hella yeah, you stay in the Bay?
@@DavidLightbringerstill do, buddy!!
Any interesting House Marbrand sigil's symbolism?
I also moved across the country on my own when I was 20, except in reverse: from the West Coast to the East Coast. My parents are a very conservative brand of Christianity, too, and abusive.
I love Dany and her story arc. I acknowledge she will likely have a dark turn, but I agree that's what is in her heart is justice.
Oh, and I'm also a Pisces lol
"Others who need to be killed" I look over to my copy of "Deer Woman" :::sigh:::
Need to read that someday. Agree by instinct.
why new weirwood trees can't be planted or grown??? And Why the Weirwood trees we see in the main series doesn't grow much?
Wad up doe hope you’re doing well. Love the content your channel is criminally underrated. b But it just makes me sad that your a Warriors fan… lol
Peace and wholeness fam
Algo has the Rythm
The last hero also laments about his missing dog.. I think that's a clear indication that ghost is leaving the story
Please do a spoiler free review on the green knight because I haven't seen it yet and I want to know if its any good
I'm a new fan of this channel and I like your theory about the Targaryens causing the doom.
