In March 1955, the first two MiG-19s of serial construction were transferred to the Air Force for testing. July 3, 1955 48 new MiGs participated in the air parade in Tushino.
Production in Soviet Union :
MiG-19: 246 (1955-1957)
MiG-19S: 836 (1956-1959)
MiG-19P: 503 (1956-1960)
MiG-19PM: 394 (1957-1960)
More than 4,600 aircraft were also produced in China and Czechoslovakia

The MiG 19 is still a underrated jet aircraft
The book "MiG: Flight through time" tells a very interesting story of this aircraft's development.
The Mig 19 was so sleek and beautiful , I dont care if it was sandwiched between two great fighter jets.
Love it. So did Tahir Alam. He has some great Aircrew Interviews on here
I remember how surprised I a when I first saw an early MiG-21 and realized how similar it looked to the MiG-19. I didnt realize until then how it directly descended from the MiG-19, which came from the 17.

seen for the first time in June, a Pakistani mig 19 at the aviation museum in rimini in Italy is really sexy
The Pakistani ones are quite interesting as they've been upgraded a lot to carry western equipment such as American sidewinders. I think they went out of service for Pakistan in 2002, having been in service since 1965.

Pakistani planes are actually the Chinese copy of the MiG19 called F-6 in Pakistani service. They were flown at a time by "very experienced" instructor pilots of a Pakistani version of an Aggressor squadron. They are known to have embarrassed quite a number of F16 pilots in regular operational fighter squadrons by repeatedly beating them in mock air to air combat. F16 is two generations ahead of the F-6.

PAF used this aircraft successfully agains india and made history of glorious....
PAF had cheap Chinese copies, which are nowhere near as good as Soviet one.
So you can't call your junk Chinese J-6 as Chad Soviet MiG-19.
Whereas India had original Soviet MiG-21s which shot down Pakistan F-104, F-86 and even F-16

why mig 17 not supersonic?
They didn't have the 19 anyway. They had 17s because they were cheap and available and 21s because they were newer and high performance. No point in buying one right in middle.
@@donpedro9422 no, the 19 was the first production jet that could break Mach 1 in level flight. The 17 was transonic, although I think it could go slightly supersonic in a dive.
