- Jon Durand Hang Gliding / Sky Surfing a rare meteorological cloud phenomenon called a Morning Glory. It is like surfing a tsunami or tidal wave in the sky. It's great for doing loops and flying fast. The Glider is towed in the Sky by a small ultra lite aircraft. Also called aerotow hang gliding. RedBull and Nikon Camera sponsored. @jxs22 To a hang glider pilot what you hear after the music stops is music ... there is nothing like the sound of the wind and the Variometer peeping ... you just have to do it to understand.

Seen one of them over Brisbane in 1987 as a storm cell with strong wind and hail stretched from 1 side to the other like a tornado horizontal, amazing site to see..

Phenomenal! Truly amazing flying and film. The biggest problem for anyone watching the sport is difficulty seeing the action and perspective because the air is invisible of course. As awesome as it was, if someone could add a "Visual" in post production. Somehow showing the 'tsunami of air' that is coming at the pilot. Even if it was a subtle animation, as long as it was accurate, would be amazing.

Is this like orographic lift when you get lenticular clouds forming off mountains only bigger? I mean they go in long lines for miles. And look amazing also. I see them here sometimes forming off the mountains.
It's a low pressure land breeze/wave - See Gulf of Carpentaria - very flat expanse of land.
