Thank you for that Wally I feel a lot more confident now about doing the same on my 67

relatively easy , trick was to put resistance on crown gear when checking meshing pattern as it made for better contact. best of luck

Thanks very much for the detailed videos on your build. I have watched quite a few and plan to watch them all. They will be a great resource for me while working on my 67 coupe.

Didn’t mention the carrier bearing preload. I assume you did the 2 hole method or measured the case spread. 🤓
Nice work Wally, I left all that how to stuff out of my video.

correct, I added the pre load to the carrier bearings as well. this is why I thought I was too tight but I guess it is natural to be so hot. As you know my videos are winding down as nothing left to do so wanted more of a service announcement than another step by step. probably the last tech video. hope all is well

Soooooooo Wally, what’s the final assessment?
    Any noises?
    Like the ratio?
    Cruise RPM?
    🤓👍

our weather crapped out so have not been driving it since the video release. But the good news I do not hear any whining from the differential either accelerating or decelerating. But is that due to heavy soundproofing under carpet I not I do not know. Now the ratio...hmmm that is a tough one as 3:50.1 does have a better hole shot the challenge is cruising speed of 55 mph (90kph) it is too high for 4th but too low for 5th. my PERSONAL opinion is that if you are not building a 1/4 mile car I might have gone with 3:25.1. that would allow me to run in 4th on backroads and lower rpm for highway. Of course I am happy with 3:50.1 but knowing what I know I would have gone with 3:25.1

@@68mustangrestoration34 I'm going to be doing gears in my 65 soon and have the same conundrum, except I have not yet swapped to a T5. I don't want to do gears twice, and think I can get away with 3.55s since I don't really do any long distance over 55mph.
With my tire size (26 tall) I'll be at 2500ish rpm at 55. That's not awful, especially since I have a roller engine in mine.
My dad ran his 66 289 for decades with 3.55s and a toploader, 10s of thousands of miles at 3500rpm with 0 issues except for the headache you get from the noise haha.

@@FaustKnightNothing better than the sound of a revving engine and exhaust. I think all manual transmissions have the same 1:1 ratio in 4th gear so I am sure you will enjoy it, I only throw mine into 5th (.83:1) once I am over 110Km or 65MPH mostly for highway use. Hope all goes well with the swap, I know you will notice the increased performance as I do
