      Actually I prefer the metal. The issue with glass is I cannot use a wheel to strip the paint like I can on metal. I was using black abrasive disks on the mustang with no damage, if I used that on the glass it would tear it to shreds. So I had the long and arduous task to sand paint off.

    I never thought about using metal tape for masking. I’ll have to try it sometime. From my time using metal weld backing tape, I’d have to recommend wearing mechanics gloves when applying it though, because it can give you a paper cut on steroids.

    • @68mustangrestoration34
      @68mustangrestoration34 23 дні тому

      Unfortunately, I had never found a supplier that sold an authentic tach replacement, If you look at all the suppliers they either do not sell or are "look alikes" that do not look anything like the original. Maybe today there are options and if you find one let me know as I would change it in a heartbeat. I found a guy called rocket man who repairs them and he also creates a 3 inch tach for the dash but he does not sell them. I would be interested in getting one as well

    Hi Wally. That hood ain't movin'. Brilliant fix. Allow me to make a suggestion; at this stage, where no primer has been applied, the owner might opt for side-view mirrors as those I have on mine. They mount on the wind wings' brackets. That allows for 'clean' fenders where the chrome bullet side-view mirrors are often installed. The kicker is this, these mirrors I propose are far more efficient than the bullet type. I've had both and the rear view result is considerable. Breeze Automotive fabricates them. Their description: 'Billet Aluminum Side-View Mirror Set with Polished Finish, Made in USA', P/N: 35303. They're pricey but well worth it due to how much I can readily see what's on both sides. Wish I could post a pic. On that, very much appreciate your attention to detail. Gonna be a Fisker like no other. Cheers !

    • @68mustangrestoration34
      @68mustangrestoration34 Місяць тому

      great question, the drop itself will reduce the height on its own, so you could keep your original springs. Some people do switch out the springs as they are over 50 years old and have become weak. So be careful if you order new as it will impact your stance. I assume you are still running the original engine (I6 or 289) as engine size will influence your spring choice as well

      CJ pony parts it is in a complete package called "beltline weather strip" where you get all the window weather striping including the felt inside peices and the rubber outside pieces . NOt sure if they are sold separately but since I was restoring the car I needed all of them . Make sure you order for coupe or convertible. Fastback does not have rear windows so not kit for that.

    Thanks for the video. For the three screws that go into the upper part of the instrument panel and then into the dash, they go through the front plastic bezel and sit on top of the back metal portion of the instrument panel correct? I am having trouble becuse the lath screw heads are too wide to go through the front plastic bezel. Can you tell me the exact specs of those lath screws you used? Thanks

    • @68mustangrestoration34
      @68mustangrestoration34 2 місяці тому

      Sorry if I mislead you, the lath screws are for securing carpet and other small pieces. The 3 screws that go through the top of the cluster and into the dash are simply 1.25 inch machine screws like I show in the video. (where I show the two philips head screw with the small or normal head sizes" the KEY is that in the metal part of the dash there are the 3 holes for the screws and those holes MUST have screw clips in them. If you watch this video ua-cam.com/video/rXGcaPfvTW8/v-deo.html and go to 4:36 you see the metal dash and you can see the screw clips on the dash. the screws then go through the plastic cluster, into the plastic dash and then through the screw clips . Aligning all of them is a pain, but take you time and you should be good.

    Very informative video. Liked and subscribed! I am thinking of buying a pair of JL Audio12W0v3 that is best used with amplifier power in the 75W - 300W range and is optimized to operate in a moderately sized 1.375 cu. ft. (38.9 l) sealed enclosure, or a 1.75 cu. ft. For ported box. If I calculated right , the sealed boxes they come in have the following volume: (13 1/4 x 5 x 23)÷1728 = .88 cu ft. Do you think the foam would be enough to make up for the difference in volume? Or do i need to make a larger box? I've got a 65 mustang coupe and want to bolt the boxes behind the seat divider. Thanks for any advice you can give.
