Your mission, should you choose to accept it... is to watch all of the Mission Impossible movies for the first time! That's right, this is my first time watching Mission: Impossible. Like, any of them. I have somehow never seen a single one. But that's about to change as I marathon all six leading up to the two-part finale of Ethan Hunt's sneaky sexy little adventures. This commentary track will self destruct in 5... 4... 3... 2... 💥
Plot (via Wiki & ChatGPT):
In Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, IMF Agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) intercepts a nerve gas shipment by the Syndicate, a rogue group of intelligence operatives. The Syndicate compromises Ethan and the IMF. CIA Director Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) merges the IMF with the CIA. Ethan escapes from the Syndicate's torture chamber with help from a mysterious woman. Six months later, Ethan covertly shares Syndicate information with ex-IMF agent Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and enlists his help in tracking down the blonde man who killed an IMF operative. They meet undercover MI6 Agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) at an opera, where they thwart an assassination attempt. Ethan becomes a fugitive, hunted by both the Syndicate and the CIA. With Luther Stickell's (Ving Rhames) assistance, they find Faust in Casablanca, discover Syndicate leader Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), and retrieve a digital ledger. Faust escapes to London, where MI6 Chief Atlee (Simon McBurney) deletes the data. Stickell decrypts a copy, revealing a British government red box. Lane abducts Benji to force Ethan to deliver the data. Ethan confronts Atlee, who orchestrated the Syndicate, and exposes his betrayal. The data is destroyed, and Ethan offers himself in exchange for Benji's safety. Benji escapes while Ethan and Faust evade Vinter's (Jens Hultén) men. Ethan traps Lane and exposes the Syndicate's existence to the Senate committee, leading to the restoration of the IMF. Brandt (Jeremy Renner) becomes the new IMF Secretary.
In Mission: Impossible - Fallout, the Syndicate reemerges as the Apostles, a terrorist group led by John Lark. They seek to acquire stolen plutonium cores for nuclear bombs. IMF Agent Ethan Hunt is assigned to recover the plutonium but fails when he chooses to save his teammate Luther Stickell instead. The CIA sends Agent August Walker (Henry Cavill) to accompany Ethan on a mission. They track Lark to a Paris nightclub but are attacked, and the real Lark is killed by MI6 Agent Ilsa Faust. Ethan assumes Lark's identity and meets arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis to exchange the plutonium for the release of Solomon Lane . Ethan and Walker attack an armored convoy to extract Lane and stop a plot to contaminate water supplies with nuclear bombs. They discover Walker is the real Lark, and the team confronts him. Walker kills IMF Secretary Hunley and escapes. Ethan pursues him to Tate Modern, where Walker threatens Ethan's ex-wife (Michelle Monaghan). The team tracks Lane and Walker to a medical camp where they plan to detonate the bombs. Ethan defeats Walker in a fight, deactivates the bombs, and secures the detonator. The mission is a success, and Ethan's actions are praised by CIA Director Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett).

eric crying in his car, sobbing about movies is such a raw and relatable thing
He’s so real
The hairs a little off, they still can't get hair cgi right
Remember when he made fun of Jake for crying about the Star Wars 7 teaser?
eric screaming I love movies is exactly how i felt watching fallout as well
9:05 yea this definitely needs to be a tiktok trend where you show your favorite movie scene over Eric screaming, someone make that happen PLS!
Just finished Fallout. HOLY SHIT what a journey!!!!!! SO MANY twists!
I literally got so hype to see someone act just as excited as I do 😂
4,5, and 6 are pretty much the perfect action trilogy. Waiting to see part 2 before I rank Dead Reckoning, but part 1 was a lot of fun too
@@simonu2044 Yeah, I won't really rank DR 1 until I can see it as a full movie. But, so far, Fallout has been my favorite. If just for the multitudes of twists.
Eric screaming 9:05 “I love movies, I LOVE MOVIES” makes me genuinely happy and emotional all at once
Honestly same. Its weird ive never heard anyone say it like that, becuz he has the exact reaction i sometimes have, when you just feel so bubbly enthusiastic about how amazing movies are, and I wish i had that more often with modern movies
Consuming media is just so fun, I love it
umm happiness is an emotion too 👀
8:42
Henry Cavill reloading his fists is literally the hottest scene to be put to screen.
FINALLY someone else crying at the pure ecstasy of watching a perfect movie
Eric’s obsession with Rebecca Ferguson killing him is absolutely hilarious
Reminds me of that Spike Spiegel meme: "I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me"
Honestly in the feature length track it’s just that every time she’s on screen 😅
Legit relatable
Eric screaming “XINU TAKE THE WHEEL” while Tom Cruise takes the controls of the helicopter is the funniest shit I have heard in a while.
Its incrediable that James Bond is more of a household name but Mission Impossible is arguably more consistently good.
To be completely fair outside of being spy movies they’re not that comparable
James Bond has a much longer history, has gone through several eras with different tones and actors and tends to focus more on the spy side of things than the action
Whereas Mission Impossible is newer, has had maybe one tone change in its existence, has had a continuous star and mostly the same main cast and focuses more on the action
@@jonasquinn7977well except for the tv show.
James bond is older that's probably the only reason why lol
@@jonasquinn7977agreed. Ppl shitting on James Bond because the last 3 Mission Impossible movies have been great is fucking unfair. Its a franchise of 26 movies that has been embedded into pop-culture and changed action filmmaking. I find it frustrating for ppl to dismiss it becuz John Wick and Mission Impossible have the benefit and privilige of modern budgeting and techniques and expertise, both owing A LOT to what Bond has done. It just turns out that MGM really has done a dogshit job recently, 10 years for Spectre and No Time to Die to be the most subpar movies ever, its a travesty
it helps that tom cruise has so much control over all of them, so there's one consistent vision at least as directors get changed out
Your reaction at the end of Fallout with the bomb/sunset fake-out is priceless. I LOVE MOVIES!!
It was how I reacted the first time I saw the movie too
“Alec Baldwin is like if Jeremy Renner ate a second Jeremy Renner” 😂
Quote of the video
I was in the same theater opening night where Eric recorded the commentary track for Dead Reckoning: Part 1. The entire crowd kept looking over their shoulders to the back row where Eric was sitting because he kept yelling during every action scene, it was insane. Eventually someone had to get a manager to get Eric kicked out, but then he convinced the manager to sit in on the record and we all had to deal with it.
If someone was recording a podcast style audio track in the cinema while i was trying to watch a film id be so pissed
I saw Eric at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
@@timmortal are you using a Jerma copypasta lol? Hilarious though tbf
How does he do them though? Does Eric just rent a whole screening?
the clip of a giddy Eric exclaiming, "I love movies, I love movies!" was priceless. absolutely innocent lol
3:07 "THE POSSIBLE MISSION FEDERATION" i am in fuckin T E A R S LMFAOOOO
Eric adding his version of Tom's Mummy trailer screams made me laugh so hard, my coworkers are looking at me like I'm a weirdo 😂
I love Rebecca Ferguson in this series, she is the Catwoman to Ethan’s Batman
Honestly the best character in the franchise
I wish she would kill me 😂
Ilsa is the best.
She’s a big reason why the new MI falls short for me
@@ComedyBros5 Thing is, if the undo what they do her character (it’s totally possible. They hint at it a lot anyways) I’ll probably like DR pt1 a good bit more.
9:05 We need more movies that make us have this reaction. This is a perfect reaction for a movie that makes us excited and invested
Eric screaming i love movies in his van is probably my new favorite PMI moment 😂
I fully expected Eric to make a Bear Grylls joke during the helicopter crash scene, but him making fun of Tom Cruise's weird ass screaming from the Mummy trailer was even better
“THEY TRICKED ME!” i feel that so hard because movies have tricked me into crying before many times😂😭
5:18 that shot with the back of the armored vehicle filling up with water and the camera is fixed upright with the character on screen, but the water is constantly changing angle to represent the vehicle rolling over in the water and yet we’re only seeing it from the inside of the armored vehicle and we only get to visualize the water switching angle is amazing. That shot is fantastic.
Okay, that’s it, I’m becoming a Patreon member. After Eric screaming “I LOVE MOVIES” and literally crying in happiness just got to me, it’s so real, because that’s exactly how so many of us feel. It’s the excitement, the emotion, the elation, it’s why movies are so god damn powerful. I will be adding another screening of Dead Reckoning to my list, now that I will have his commentary ☺️
So I watched Fallout with Christopher McQuarrie when he visited my film school and he said they only had like an hour at 6am to film the car chase scene around the arc de triomphe because paris refused to stop traffic for longer or something like that. He said he was also still writing the ending of the film while they were filming!!
Your impression of the Tom Cruise Mummy scream had me rolling 🤣 thank you for that
Fallout is the first one of these I ever saw in theaters, and boy, let me tell you, you replicated the feeling perfectly
truly a joy to witness you crying with joy... iconic
Eric’s energy really makes you appreciate movies, and what they can do to you.
Me and my boyfriend have this joke that whenever we are on a plane just before take off we are like has anyone checked if our lord and saviour Tom cruise isn’t on the wing 😂😂
seeing the new one tuesday next week and cant wait to do my first commentary track in the theater!
amazing! enjoy!!!
3:40 you fastening your seatbelt was hilarious 🤣 benefit of a drive-in/ in-a-car reaction
the "whats up rogue nation" intro is KILLING ME
I don’t know whether to be stoked that I can watch more of Eric watching mission impossible, or if I should be sad that this is the last highlights video of it. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while!
I remember seeing Fallout in cinema on a school trip and genuinely being impressed. It was great and I hadn't even seen an MI movie before or since
You’re severely missing out!
@@ComedyBros5 I know lol I should definitely watch the rest of them 😅
@@mangoandblueberries 1 is a fun spy espionage thriller featuring some classic late 90's action. 2 is pretty skippable and doesn't feel like it's actually a part of the MI universe. 3 is epic and Cruise gives an awesome performance (as well as Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the villain, and Laurence Fishburne as the IMF director guy..wish he was brought back to the series. 4 is a blast and the introduction of Jeremy Renner's character is great. 5 is really good as well, Becca Ferguson's character is worth watching the movie alone.
And the latest film is good, but not great.
@@ComedyBros5 thanks for recapping them. Usually when I get to share the things I love with new people I write paragraphs and paragraphs, you have more self control then me 😅😅
the thirst over rebecca ferguson....mood, same my guy 😂
Eric your love of movies is a thing of beauty. Please keep doing what you’re doing, something as minimal as commentary tracks brings joy to everyone. You sir, are a treasure 🫡
Anyone else try and hold their breath for the whole underwater bit?
i did in the full track yes!
"Xenu take the wheel" is underrated
“The White Widow, huh? About time.” 😭
All these adaptations and no Flat Stanley movie is a CRIME
I completely agree with every opinion Eric threw out in this video. Rogue Nation is solid with some great set pieces (the plane and opera scenes are great) and new characters (Ilsa has my heart) but Fallout… is on another level entirely. It’s without a doubt the best film in the franchise to me! It’s a masterclass in action filmmaking, I loved seeing it in theaters!
Eric must be the greatest fucking guy to watch anything with I am in love with him and his vibes
lmfaooo “alec baldwin looks like if jeremy rennet ate another jeremy renner” never thought about it but it’s so true
It's insane how good these movies are. It's so hard to think of another franchise that honestly gets better as it goes.
i legitimately don't think you understand how big of a smile i have on my face watching you giggle like a little girl watching these movies (mainly because that fully is me). I LOVE MOVIES! I LOVE MOVIES! I LOVE MOVIES!
at the drive-in now waiting to see dead reckoning part one 💣💥 check back in a few hours for the commentary track!
♥️♥️♥️
Just saw DR last night, and I was guffawing.
Saw it in IMAX last night and my jaw was on the floor watching THE STUNT in the actual movie. Something you said about knowing he's actually doing it makes it crazier to watch.
am i the only one here who was massively disappointed with DR? i'm so sad too because i love the other ones
@@wesleyfilmcrew same. Look the stunts were amazing, but man the writing was awful in some places. Very clearly the movie is centred around these big stunts and broken up by super thick boring exposition that is very clunky. Also the ego-trip is very noticeable here, whereas in Fallout the young french woman is like all doughy-eyed and Tom saves her, in this movie every woman and man is swooning over him, and trusting him all of a sudden because of his amazing nature. Also light SPOILERS below:
I mean SPOILERS but you-know-who just goes over to the other side because 'why did you spare me' makes no sense, it felt very Bond-like but like 80s Bond where women just sacrificed themselves for Bond because he was so amazing. Also the whole crew was wasted, it was just Tom and his new girlfriend at the time Hayley, and also they really wasted a super good character from the older movies just to make way for Hayley. The cops also gave up for no reason because Tom is good idk.
This commentary is so good. I love movies so fucking much. This made me emotional about being able to go to the theater to see the new one on Saturday.
I don’t want to exaggerate, but this is probably top 10 videos on UA-cam of all time. My face HURTS from smiling! I love that “I just love movies” feel!!! 😭
It’s nearly 2AM where I live rn so I am looking forward to watching this video while I’m on the bus tomorrow - thank you for your videos Eric this is such a comfort channel for me over the last 4 years
🥰❤️
Your rankings of the movies are the same as mine.
6 and 3 are by far my favourites. 3 has the best villain of the franchise and the story feels very personal to Ethan's character. 6 has the most exhilarating sequences in the franchise while also still feeling emotionally engaging.
This is me. I don't usually like action movies but somehow Mission Impossible movies restored my faith in cinema every time
I don't know why I'm surprised Cavil looks great in a mustatche, he'd look good in anything
Man, Eric, you really make supporting this channel worth it. I was weirdly happy you enjoyed the movie THAT much. It was wholesome ❤
5:03. A serious, hearty lol on that one. I'm stealing that line.
F**k me, "Xenu, take the wheel"?!? Incredible.
These movies are pure fun. But not mindless "turn you brain off" fun, because they still manage to be clever and thrilling and make you care about what's happening.
3:43 strapped on that seat belt just in time for the jump like it was a VR movie lol
FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Eric honestly just makes me appreciate how cool movies are lol
This was delightful - if this is what your channel is about, then I'm here for it ❤
YES that mustache is why henry cavill looks crazy in justice league! Warner bros offered paramount 3 mil to aid with cgi if they allowed him to shave it and paramount said no sir
Fallout is one of the best action movies of all time. It belongs up there with the Terminators, Aliens, Predator, Max Max. It is THAT good.
I was gripping the armrests of my chair at the movie theater so hard during the final fight in Fallout that I broke a nail. Fallout is probably my favorite Tom Cruise movie of all time. That insane bastard.
That "I love movies!" is so real. Lol I was saying the same thing during John Wick 4
I never talk while watching movies at the cinema, but I vividly remember letting out a "Holy Shit!" during the helicopter scene in Fallout. Truly the best of the franchise that I'm so glad I saw on the big screen.
never have wanted a filmmaker and star to see one of your videos more than now, theyd love this. amazing.
Tom cruise makes these movies so Eric screams “I love movies!”
Ghost Protocol and Fallout are two of the greatest action movies ever made imo
One thing a lot of people missed is that the "White Widow" character is the daughter of Max the arms dealer from the first movie.
Yes! I wish this was explaining deeper in the movies. Too many people missed it!
I HATE how the masks get me every time, but it is also SO FUCKING COOL
Yes!!! So glad someone else agrees with me that Fallout is the best one!!! (Haven’t seen the new one yet at time of writing lol) The suspense, twists, and action scenes are SO GOOD! That bathroom fight is some of the smoothest choreography I’ve seen in a movie. Henry Cavill is also an amazing villain and I love that they take elements from previous movies to drive this movie forward (villain from the last movie being left alive is a consequence, Ethan’s ex-wife being in danger and him regretting how his life affected her, etc). In my opinion, Dead Reckoning has a lot to live up to
Being it’s only a part 1, it definitely doesn’t live up to the whole, complete story of Fallout or any of the other MI movies (excluding MI 2).
Dead Reckoning definitely would’ve/should’ve been a one and done, grand finale movie. There’s no reason it had to be stretched to two films.
This movie is freaking amazing, MI is one of the few franchises that just got better with time.
The new one was a misstep in my opinion. No reason Dead Reckoning couldn’t have just been on whole movie and the grand finale of the series.
This is a man that loves movies
I WAS SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO SEE THIS MOVIE WHEN YOU STARTED THE SERIES!!! Absolutely the best one, so glad you had so much fun with it Eric!! ❤️
Mission: Impossible- Fallout is GODDAMN incredible. Peak cinema.
Not gonna lie I watched this movie like five times in the theater. This movie is just so good.
Eric thirsting over Rebecca Ferguson’s yellow dress in Rogue Nation is so relatable
Watching eric giggle like a child makes me so fucking happy dude. He’s having the time of his life watching these
the mummy scream bit had me rollinngggg
Eric screaming “I love movies” is the reason we all love PMI ❤❤❤
I LOVE MOVIES is how you’ll feel watching any action-based Tom Cruise movie because he loves them thrice as much as anyone in the audience. Literally how I felt with both Fallout and Top Gun Maverick.
It is such a blast watching these movies with people who have never seen them.
the alec baldwin commentary i’m CRYING😭
This brings so much joy to my heart. Been a fan for a long time, Eric would be the perfect movie watching partner. Keep up the awesome work!
crying because a movie is so good, is honestly such a beautiful experience.
God I started crying when Eric started crying! Not how I was planning on beginning the morning but not mad about it either!
Eric alone in the van screaming between tears of joy about how he loves movies is probably the most Eric Striffler thing I’ve ever seen
One of the best reactions ever, I remember being close to tears watching this the first time
"god i wish she'd kill me" oh you are so real. you get it!
Such a cool detail: When Sean Harris’ character is about to be submerged in the water, you can see him hyperventilate for a moment. He’s doing this to expel CO2 from his lungs so that he can hold his breath for longer.
Eric crying at the end of Fallout was so wholesome. 😭👏
I might just yell out, “I Love MOVIES.!” when I go c Dead Reckoning this week. 🤣🤣
I cant tell you how much joy screaming “I LOVE MOVIES” brought me
literally the best youtuber out here
eric's teary "i love movies" goes toe-to-toe with keanu reeves' "i love movies"
i don’t really know these movies but it’s been so fun to see Eric become a big fan
This is exactly what I needed this week... and every week maybe 🙈 thank you!!
Bro your mummy impression was insane 😂😂😂😂
Simon Pegg in Brahms 2: The Boy III coming soon
The addition of Rebecca Ferguson is the turning point for all these films. I love her in it.
Can we get a shirt with Eric crying with text saying I love movies lol
I've already watched all the tracks. im just watching this video cause I love the highlights.
New favorite commentary, for sure
Fallout was fucking wild I remember watching it on my phone cuz I had to go out but couldn’t stop watching (wasn’t driving) that last fight scene was crazy
