    I thought this was the shop that I work at for a spit second and I got really excited lol. But I don't think my shop would allow people to record our "stuff" close up

    I hope your G&L HBM is designed with the same thought as one from the 50’s that I rebuilt. One of the greatest gear boxes I ever did based on the simplest concept that it was modular. The whole gearbox slid out of the headstock so you had access to the whole thing, same for the gearbox in the base for the feeds.
    I did come across the same concept in an old WW2 vertical lathe (maybe a Bertram or a Hamilton?) TOS HBM gearboxes are a pain to work on and the worst I came across was a Jurasiti (I called it the Jurassic Mill).
