Great episode. What ties these books to the work of John Dee? Because I see similarities in his seals and extended work on these manuscripts. I am sure these were part of his wast library.

I really like the idea that demonic forces exist in near space. maybe just outside the heliosphere. 1,000 demons to your left and 10,000 demons to your right and now that you are alone in space, there is nothing between them and you. cosmic horror is always so much fun.

I love it- the disclaiming of Trithemius regarding what "nonsense" necromancy and magic is alleged to be sounds exactly like the introduction in my copy of A.E. Wait's "Ceremonial Magic". In that heartwarming little volume, (as I'm sure anybody reading this comment already knows,) Mr. Wait ties himself in knots proclaiming his pious and oh-so-Christian reasons for editing and publishing a grimoire of straight-up demonic magic, and he used the same justifications that Trithemius did, i.e. "This work should be studied to illustrate the intellectual and moral futility of such magics... Christians must be vigilant, yadda-yadda-yadda..." It's hilarious!
I am not a Goetic thaumaturgist or necromancer myself, but I have known many people of that persuasion, and I have known many Christians as well. I have no doubt whatsoever that I will always prefer the company of the former to that of the latter.
    All the best, N.

The one where it conjures the illusion of a castle. So there i was in the fields with the talisman and reading by candle light. 😂 it was cold out, and when i tossed the offering of honey and milk to the 4 directions and said the invocation, i legit started hearing the sounds one might while in a midaeval castle. It was akin to the feeling when you are in an astral temple in a meditative trance. When i left and started walking home, when i would look back to where i had asked the castle to materialize, the longer i gazed there, the clearer the impression of a dark castle emerged. Fun stuff.

Didn't Trithemius have beef with the guy the Faust legends were based off of, or am I thinking of a different guy?
