Hello.
I keep the HotHands in my work bag because it helps me to be prepared for aches, pains or sprains.
Drying out electronics... really interesting to know it acts as a desiccant but as a used pack is left alone it will absorb humidity from the air and eventually get saturated.
I'd say crack a new one, the heat will help water and condensation evaporate faster and once its expired it will absorb the maximum humidity it potentially can.
I've got a good one...recently cracked a rib in two places. As soon as the pain starts up, I use an electronic hand warmer, letting it heat up and place the hand warmer on the site of the pain and let the heat soothe the pain. Can also soothe sore joints and muscles too...any hand warmers can do this job, be it electric or the Hothands
Nice one Steve, great idea!
Nice one Richie
I agree hot hands are the best I've had.
Every winter camp i have done I have put hot hand in my socks against my skin with no ill effect.
I've had them stay warm for well over 10 hrs more like 15 if you keep them consealed in your pocket.
Another good one is to stop your water filter freezing rendering it unsafe to use.
Great video
ATB Dean 😃
Excellent tip Dean, I’ll mention it in an upcoming film mate 👍🏼
You can use them in you long term food prepping container cos it eats the oxygen so dry stuff like rice etc won't go off so easy , lasts longer etc .. Great tips BTW .good luck and god bless ... Lee
Great idea Lee! Thanks for watching and commenting buddy!
a very good fire starter
Homeless individuals use them several ways as you've suggested, very good.😊😊😊
I particularly like the put under the sleeping mat one. I bet that raises the R value of a normal inflating mat quite a bit. I'll try it when I can. Great video 👍
Yep, it’s a good warmer that one. Especially if you have an insulated mat already!
Thanks so much for the tips , I live in Tanzania 🇹🇿 and in 2 weeks I happen to climb Mount Kilimanjaro where the summit night’s weather usually is -2 to upto -35 degrees which is a bit too much for someone who lives on the coastal side of the city ….I bought only 2 pairs of hand warmers but now I will be buying more from the local supermarket which has sells international medical aid here ….now through this video and your tips ….I exactly know how to make good use of these hand warmers ….Thankyou once again for sharing these tips they will be very handy for me up there on the mountain ….
You’re very welcome, I’m really glad these tips have been useful for you. Climbing Kilimanjaro!! I’m so jealous! Have an amazing time and let me know how it goes!
I'm impressed with this array of tips, Richie. I own a stash of Hot Hands but never seem use them and didn't know many of these tricks.
Thanks for sharing and all the best.
No problem matey, glad to be of service 👍🏼
Excellent tips Richie. The ones about being a moisture absorber and lens warmer are ones I never thought of. Brilliant! Cheers Richie.
The moisture absorber was a revelation to me too mate. Glad it’s given you some new ideas. Thanks as always for watching and commenting buddy!
Grate video mate with some really good tips. I use them in the little pocket inside my sleeping bag. Then in the morning i put it in my boots. Works a treat.
Great tips. Many of these tips for using hand warmers I would never have thought of. 👍❤
The last few tips are ones I'd not heard of before great to add to the arsenal Richie 💪💪👍🏴
Superb tips there, I think I ought to stock up.....never thought of the last one but I have seen one that got wet and they ballon up like a full nappy so I guess it would work.
Well, you learn something new every day! Thanks Richie👍👍👍
Brilliant tips! And a cheeky few miles along the way 👍
Fantastic idea for a video man!! I didnt know a few of those!! Thanks!
Great video Richie, really informative and some good tips that I hadn’t heard of 👍 Ben
Cheers for the shout out Rich. Some great tips mate 👍🏻
Some great tips there matey. Could be life saving tips too. Great watch
ATB Adam 👍👍
Nice intro! And great video! Loving the concept so far! So I am gonna borrow some of this information if you don’t mind. Great
Thank you mate 😊
No problem, glad you enjoyed it.
Put one in a strong sock and place it under a cover in your cat or dog bed if your pet sleeps in a cold room or place that gets cold at
night 😉
Nice idea Dale. Good tip for the Vanlife crew that one!
I like to keep a couple in my first aid kit so that I have a instant cold pack but I also have those for kind of a warm pack though I would not put them directly on skin
Definitely a good option to have available.
I'll have to tell my uncle about the two sock, 1 warmer technique as he gets cold feet at night. I have wondered if one under a fuel can would work, I'll have to give it a try. Great tips mate. ATB, Grizz
That’s a brilliant one mate. I even do that in the warmer months!
On a campout with scouts, some first time campers threw some of those hot hands in their sleeping bags. As they rolled around the warmers got under their shirts, and they both had chemical burns. Always try, if sleeping with them not to let them come into contact with skin.
Which is why I said to transfer them to the outside of the sleeping bag or under the mat when you get in your bag! 👍🏼
@@WildAstro Sorry, must have missed that.
They are awesome water cleaners too. Take plastic bottle put small hole in top screwtop on stuff tightly two cotton balls in neck of bottle, then add a cotton sock open two or 3 used hand warmers poor over cotton sock add second cotton sock and poor dirty water in to remaining bottle. The water comes out much cleaner but NOT sterile. They contain active carbion and iron pyrite two substances used in the cleaning of water
That’s one I’ve never heard before Clive. I like it!
Thank you sir.
Liked and Subscribed.
Great tips there. I've never thought I've needed them, but the emergency boots and sock dryer is a brilliant idea. I got some for Xmas so I'll take them camping with me. Where sells them locally? My other half Deb was convinced you were going to take your cap off and there'd be a stash underneath 🤣
I honestly thought about putting one under my hat and forgot to do it once I was out there. Gutted to be honest as it would’ve been a nice little giggle to end on 🤣 Don’t know for sure about local suppliers, but I think I’ve seen them in the outdoor shop in Church Stratton. I always go online for mine.
I always have one in my tech bag in when camping to keep my electronics warm
Some hot tips Rich 👍
Can you use them on your pipes?
Heating pipes? Like, to stop them freezing? Yeah, I guess so.
Do they work in water ?
…no
@@WildAstro good to know.
I am definitely the odd person out because even after many many packs of hand warmers across different brands I have never found any to give off the slightest amount of heat and have long since quit wasting my money on the worthless things.
Interesting John, because theses hot hands ones literally get too hot for me to keep against me at times. I always find that if I really give it a good shake to make sure the oxygen gets right around all the chemicals inside then they work significantly better than if I don’t. They always take a good half hour to 40 mins to get warm too.
Not sure why but ive used countless numbers of these and only once did one of a 2 pack sachet not work, and i think it was the outer package was damaged so had let oxygen in, maybe reconsider these they take around 10 mins to get warm and 20 or so to hit full heat but last a aolid night camping in winter
@sammcloughlin9291 yes I know they're supposed to take time to get going I would even let them sit on a table or something after opening and check them every so often and still nothing. as far as I'm concerned the manufacturers of them can kiss my a** for lying and selling worthless trash
@johnsmith-jk9ol fair play mate,
Wrap in a handkerchief and tie around your neck to keep the back of your neck warm. Or wrap and stick in the front of your bra to keep your chest warm. (Hey, I don’t care if you want to wear a bra!)
Excellent ideas. Might get myself a bra to try this out 😜
