She sounds like Cher somewhat, though Diana seems to also use some kind of throat singing on top of her contralto register. Tue contralto female vocal registers can get deep.

That's what I thought too, she is a siren.
In the Spring of ’23 Diana performed on the Russian version of the Masked Singer Show at the age of 19. On the first five performances, she disguised her voice so the performances didn’t attract much attention and I didn’t know the show existed. But then with the sixth performance, California Dreaming, she was told by the producers to drop the voice disguise and the next morning I knew about it on the other side of the world.

What I find amazing about this performance it's it's not even the whole song... really just 2 lines. With only 2 lines she makes they song feel completely different and almost mystical.
A True Contralto, lowest and rearest classification of the female voice, now add in Dramatic.... rearest of the subclasses of contralto. Diana is blessed with harmonic overtones and resonators, this saturates the sound spectrum. The root note is produced, then octave higher, then a 5th above that. As well as 3rds, 4ths but less prominent. She has greatly expanded her upper range since this performance, a sustained D6 in the song The Day You.... FYI this video was pirated from Diana by this person a long while ago. Diana's video has subtitles and the other participants commentary. Also Elvis's version is in D Major, this arrangement is in F Minor harmonic originally produced by Tommee Proffitt dark version. I've watched your videos of Geoff Castellucci, you seem drawled into by deep voices, hear is the female version. Good luck always watch til the end and like.

There are two versions of this song, the Light Version and the Dark Version. Elvis sang the Light Version in major key. Tommee Profitt produced the Dark Version and it was sung in minor key by Brooke. This Dark Version is the one that Diana sang. They are both very different. Иногда даже - совсем простые и незамысловатые. Можно здесь сказать, что на этом этапе уже включилось в полную силу её обаяние, заработало неотразимое очарование её личности. С этим любителем музыки из Бельгии пока, похоже, ничего подобного не произошло. Он продолжает удивляться - и продолжает раздумывать. Михаил, спасибо. Со мной произошло примерно, всë что вы описали. Более того я вообще по жизни был очень далеек от какого либо музыкального творчества. Совершенно случайно познакомился с творчеством Дианы и может не сразу, но оно меня постепенно захватило. Пробовал слушать других известных исполнителей, но не испытывал тех эмоций которые испытываю от творчества Дианы. Кроме таланта, на мой взгляд, ей передана некая генетическая мудрость поколений, которая притягивает, завораживает и одухотворяет всë еë творчество. В наибольшей степени, опять таки на мой взгляд, это проявляется в таких произведениях как Дудук и What a wonderful world.

Diana, a unique singer, songwriter and actress from Russia was born in May, 31. 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She is 1,65m/ 5,41ft tall.
Diana didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to Diana did not love her child, cruelly abused him and tried to drown him.
The 3 year old Diana was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. Taking a young child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years. Start all over again and be a mom again? Yes!!! Diana came into a poor but loving family at the age of 5 and she got the best mom that could happen to her.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. The doctor recommended singing lessons and so, Uncle Sasha discovered Diana’s talent and perfect pitch, and singing teacher Elena Kazantseva shaped her voice and confidence. During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mom, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vlogger… admirable.
Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget.
Irina accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains. Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2012, Irina's family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who bore her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, to 'The Voice Kids'. The next day, a huge scandal erupted on social media. A door had closed, but a new door opened...
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a competition 'You are Super and won twice. That project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to UA-cam and soon Diana had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists to start their studies and promote their creativity. Diana won a scholarship and Igor Krutoy (Russian music titan, billionaire, juror and sponsor) gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398.26 ft²) in Moscow. There she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Her Russian fans helped her and found a new voice coach: Alexandra Pismennaya (Sasha), who was a student of Prof. Donskoy. She and Diana are on the same wavelength and even became friends.
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D7). Her voice has natural polyphonic overtones and sometimes specifically an undertone = sub harmonic. (You hear the voice an octave lower than Diana sings. It's not that you hear a clear tone straight away, it's more that you feel like there's something in Diana's voice or the song has been edited. Not everyone can hear that.)
Undertone singing is a singing technique that belongs to the main category of overtone singing in which the vibration mode of the vocal cords is modulated to produce sounds that are below the singing tone.
In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones (i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called sub harmonics.)

The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - E6. Her genres are folk rock, folk pop, but also jazz, soul, blues, evergreens... and always in the unique Diana style... Tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically so far. She plays the piano and ukulele. In 2022 Diana released her first self-written and composed songs..
But Diana is not only a great singer and storyteller. She lives her songs and touches our hearts and souls. But also she looks beautiful and she is a humble, smart and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. We are Diana's 'friends' and support her. Diana really appreciates that her friends helped to improve her home studio and also sponsored her first album. The Russian friends have chosen Diana as their 'national treasure'. 2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier as “normal”, applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS).
In October 2021 Diana was invited to her first adult contest on Russian television 'The ShowMaskGoOn'. She won!!!
In December 2021, Dianas released her first CD with great success. Maestro Krutoy had introduced Diana to the excellent singer, songwriter and producer Brandon Stone. With Maria Tarasenko (songwriter), the trio created the 9 songs of the album and received gold in June 2022.

No backup singers, she is polyphonic. She is a force of nature. 😉
No, she uses backing tracks (of her own singing). No one can sing like that. There are some full polyphonic singers out there but that ability is nearly impossible to integrate to mainstream singing. Diana's voice on the other hand has some rich overtones and undertones, thats another thing.
