    This is more of a comparison between a dedicated dashcam vs the versatility of a GoPro. Best dashcam is hands down the Innov as that's what it's designed to do. Record when the bike is on, continuously save footage, and turn off when the bike is off. Install and forget. If you get into an accident and need the footage, it'll be the most recent video captured so there's no worry about losing the footage in that case unless the camera itself was destroyed. Motovlogging and using one camera to do a ton of different things is easily the GoPro. You also have to remember you need 2 GoPros (twice the price) if you want front and rear footage.

      Not going to lie, it’s very much a “here’s a product I was sent to I’m going to compare it to the closest thing I have”. Not that the video has no value, but I wish it felt less manufactured

      Exactly, some of the notes made little sense because they're 2 different things. The Innov's data card should NOT be easy to reach

      Spot on! He hardly ever addressed the fact that you need TWO GoPros to cover front and back so the COST is at least double that of K5 in equal usage. So, this ends up being a $450 K5 vs. $500 GoPro.

    What makes the video harder to work with in post, it's available in MP4 or TS, just choose MP4... Also, what's wrong with getting rear ended and wondering where your video is, just pull up the app or pull the SD and sort by newest, I would assume you are checking immediately after so it should be right at the top. Not to mention, theoretically it should automatically lock that video since it has the IMU to detect crashes and you can set the sensitivity.
    You failed to mention INNOVV has a parking feature and that it's pretty permanently attached so you don't have to worry about theft if you leave it on for a parking feature, GoPro will likely get snatched.
    Knowing whether it's recording or not; the remote shows GPS, Recording, and WiFi status with very visible LED indicators... It will even flash to warn you if you don't have rear video for some reason.
    The remote button functions are pretty simple, press once and it saves and locks the current video from being overwritten, press twice to take a photo... not really hard to remember.
    Also, just to note, they listened to complaints and updated the screws to self retaining thumb screws so you can now get the SD card out without tools or worrying about losing the screws (assuming you can easily get to the access panel)
    I agree on other points you made but that's just me I guess, I just felt you missed a whole lot of info in this video so I wanted to help others.

    I used a GoPro for a while as a dash cam. I bought it for other reasons and ended up attaching it to my dash eventually. I was quick to go get an actual dash cam. GoPro's are great cameras, not great dash cameras. I need up getting a Garmin for my dash, a thinkware cam for the rear and I got a Halo M1 camera system for my side views as its a motor cycle system and comes with 2 lenses and a DVR with Mic and GPS locator. I mounted the M1 lenses on the A pillars of my Van pointing out the side of the passenger door and drivers door giving me blind spot footage. I found GoPro would randomly shut itself off, no good!! I love the fact that I can get into my ride and not have to worry about turning anything on, all of my cameras automatically turn on and record. No more getting screwed over by insurance or police.

    Chase IMO the reason for the INNOVV K5 is as a DashCam, not designed to be a MotoVlog per se, however you can use it as background. The GoPro, Insta360, DJI Osmo are all designed for moto logging etc., You need both.

    OC Chase talk to teapotone about the innovv it does a lot more then you think like if it detects some knocking your bike over while parked it will record. If you have an accident it will automatically record. It’s not designed as a blogging cam. Plus it records both front and back with two cameras, so you would need two GoPros and two mounting set ups so price would be much more expensive, plus you would then need to download two lots of sd cards.
    Where as the inovv has Bluetooth connection to download or view to your phone no need to keep taking the sd card out.
    4K Ultra HD & 1080P Full HD Recording
    Dual-band WiFi (2.4GHz/5.8GHz) Supported IP67 Waterproof
    Industry-leading 5Hz GPS Receiver
    Improved high speed 5Hz module. Support connection to 2 satellite systems, GPS and Glonass.
    The record button is so that you don’t over write that bit off footage ie press to start a nice ride out and permanently save until you delete. The cameras are always one and as you said will over write the files unless you press to save. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    OC: One time I was riding with my friends. I was pretty much still a beginner rider with not much experience. I was recording my trip until the battery ran out. After realizing the battery was empty, I just dumped my camera inside my backpack and continued riding with my friends. But then it started raining, we rushed to a nearby underbridge thingamabob and stayed there until the rain calmed down. Right after that, we continued our ride. It was still raining, but it's much calmer. Filtering is legal in my area so we did some filtering through the traffic. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I experienced my first crash. I was trying to pass a car, I don't remember the driver having his blinkers on, so I thought I could pass him, but then he suddenly turned left, which meant I'd crash onto him if I didn't pull the brakes. Welp, after a split-second decision, I decided to panic pull the front brakes, no abs, and the tires slipped. At least I learned something, I guess.

    OC. love the review , dashcam is still very rarely used in bikes, i now kinda know why , mainly vloggers do this.
    And the Gopro is really good for POV shots, and beautiful quality and wider , the dashcam on the other hand ,is great for track only vids on bikes that don't shake themselves apart . The GoPro is great for cool shots, but the Dash is great for just recording. Like Meh....

    there has been a lot of feed back to innovv in relation to the small screws that secure the SDcard door... they will now come with thumb screws which are more convenient, there has been feed back on the wiring that is too short on the front camera with the inconvenience of not being able to hide it when installing to a naked bike.

    Had this idea on mounting a preper style solar panel on my tank. It wouldn't be ideal to charge from a dead battery but if my gopro was charged before I took off it would slow the battery use down.

    i still use a innovv K1, using a 128GB card. Recording a whole day is no issue at all so worried about footage im not.
    If i want to look at something, i take the sd card out (use a sd adapter for my phone or) stick it in my laptop/computer and there it is.
    Kind of an odd comparison to make anyway because for dashcam purposes.
    There is no other option then Innovv.

    What about mounting a 360 camera on the tail of your bike ? So when you leave it parked its recording amf can see 360 view if anybody touches it or knicks it. Also when you driving it can see eveeything 360 videw if anybody hits you etc. Is thsre a 360 camera for that even ? I would totally mount a 360 cam to the tail of my Ducati v4s. 👍🏼🤷🏽‍♂️😉😎😳🫤😕

  • @MrSpo-sc4lo
    @MrSpo-sc4lo 2 роки тому

    price comparison failed to consider dash cam is front and rear so you need two portable cams and mounts to match that. Also, there is the cost of mounts for the go pro (not insignificant). at end of day its apples vs oranges. ideal scenario is both, imo. perhaps a cheaper dash cam, though. btw, dash cam needs image stabilzation. vids are horrible without it.

      It records in preset increments (I think 1, 5, or 10 minutes), I use a 10 minute interval and usually the front (4K) is ~2.5GB and the rear (1080p) is about 1.5GB so you're looking at 5GB for every 10 minutes of footage for both front and rear on highest res possible. I have a 512GB card so (512/5=102 ten minute clips for both cameras) that gives me about 17 hours of footage from both front and rear... had I known this before hand I wouldn't have wasted that much on the 512, I figured it would use much more space being 4K but it uses h.265 so it's much better compression.

  • @dlmp70
    @dlmp70 Рік тому

    To obtain front AND rear coverage with GoPro, you need 2 cameras. That’s >$500. K5 does it for less than that. So, you’re not making a fair comparison when you keep talking of a $250 GoPro. Instead, you should speak of >$500 GoPro.

    He's pro gopro when it's 300-500 and 300 for just ONE camera and 500 for ONE camera with one of their bundles🤦🏼‍♀️. That's fucking ridiculous... it's like Apple vs Android here imo with you getting less for more with the gopro, and with an actual dashcam you get more for less. It's common sense every one has an action camera but don't make that your main source, go out and get a dashcam because thats exactly what they're meant for. Yeah it's a "bitch" to install but so what? After that it's literally you turning the key and play.
