I love the way you struggled with the cold day to push yourself and just do it. You have created a fantastic painting and you should be very proud. Just excellent and I particulary like that little cow in the background looking straight at me. please keep up the great work.
it looks like the detailed drawing took as much or more time than the actual painting. If I could give a million likes and subscriptions I would. The ABSOLUTE best I have ever seen and I have been doing art for 22 years now, so I have seen hundreds. Extremely well done, keep up the awesome work because it's just PERFECT!!!!!!
Minnie, you have no idea how much I appreciate that. I think you single handedly just made my year 🥰. So thank you so so much! And I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers! 🙏
I'm a self taught super realist painter myself, your work is gorgeous.. keep following your heart, that will always be where your best work is. Your capacity for hard work is evident too, you'll never go wrong with it. Take good care now.❤
My husband just saw this stunning piece of work. He says the stamping on the tack and the tack itself is awesome as well as the muscle structure of the animals. We use to have and ride horses. Makes us miss that lifestyle. Thanks again from Niagara Falls Canada.
Bonsoir ,je découvre pour la première fois ,votre vidéo,j adore les chevaux,,vraiment très réalistes, et le bœuf derrière le cheval est très expressif, bravo c est magnifique ! 😀👏❤👍🇨🇵❤
That is so incredibly stunning!!!!!! Attention to even the finest detail and I'm sure you have to know your subject very well to be able to paint in his muscular structure so perfectly. Love the little cow looking on
Thank you so so so much!! I really appreciate it. Horses are one of the things I've painted the longest...guilty 😅. But it also helped that reference was done by a professional photographer, so I had a really good image to work off of 😄
I too, am an artist and I appreciate what you’re doing. You’re very talented. You keep on keeping on I think you got a good thing going on no matter what anybody might say otherwise.
You should have way more subscribers because you are such a talented artist. Keep it up im sure your channel will take off! Also don’t listen to the pretentious people in the comments you did amazing, you should be really proud!
❤ beautiful art piece. I love to paint horses and I just wanted get more better in the muscle features as perusing a regular side job in painting, since I 've retired. Thanks for sharing this beautiful picture and hope the best for you. God bless 💘.. ❤😂
Hi first time viewer here! I liked this vid! I am also a progressing realism painter. I can relate to literally every struggle you mentioned. Very lovely painting. More like this please! I subscribed as well. Thank you.
Thank you so so much for subscribing! It means so much. And yay! Another realism painter! The struggle can be so real, right? 😂😅 What sort of things do you like to paint?
@@ashleytoltonart Oh man, im kinda trying everything, but animals/wildlife is by far my favorite. I have trouble staying focused and getting to work often. Most of my income from my business is derived from teaching workshops, but I would like to make way more paintings to sell too. Do you teach?
@@acaciarogersart Cool!! 😄 As you can maybe tell...I'm a big fan of animals too. And that's awesome that you've found a way to make your passion a source of income. I think it's a difficult thing for artist because theres so much more to it than just creating art. So bravo for creating a business out of it! I don't feel qualified to teach people yet 😅. I feel like I'm learning so much still, that theres way more qualified people (like you) to teach 😄.
Woah so beautiful! 😊Thank you for your painting advice, I am very appreciative. I hope to see more painting advice or tips because I desire to learn more. How long did this painting take you with so much detail ? 😊
Thank you so much!! And thanks for the feedback! I can definitely add in more tips and tricks into my videos :D. I like to break up the work, so I only sit with it for about 2-4 hrs a day. But at that pace, it took me about 3 months 😅. Looking forward to your comments and questions in future videos!
Okay cool! I can definitely try to add that in there! These next two paintings won't have it just because I've already passed that point 😄... but for any new ones I start, I'll add some of that in there 🥳
@@ashleytoltonart I too like to have a drink while I’m painting but I usually get more painting then drinking done. A friend of mine told me once if you’re drinking while you’re working you’re not working enough and if you’re working while you’re drinking you’re not drinking enough!
@@lmcpainting916 Hahah that's a great quote. My husband definitely always makes fun of me because on the rare occasion that I do drink while I paint, I'm a two sipper and then I forget about it 😄. I might as well of waited until I was done😄.
I couldn't help but notice you're not using them Mall stick but your arm pushing against your painting surface , thinking if it was a canvas you're painting on the pressure of your arm would distort the canvas tightness, which we all know it's not a good idea. Could I please ask what service are you using to paint on? Ty
Hi there! It is canvas and you are correct that I rarely use a mahl stick. I’m not putting much pressure on the canvas so I’m not really worried about distortion ☺️
Colors used: burnt umber, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, titanium white, yellow ochre, a very small amount of cadmium red for the saddle pad, and viridian green for the grass. :D
@@ashleytoltonart Thank you for sharing your talent. I'm painting two sorrels for my friend on and 8 X 10 canvas. I can't seem to get the lightest top part where the sun is shining to look bright.
@@eileenjones6617 How fun!! I bet your friend will be very appreciative of the painting. As for brightness, tones can be so tricky! I can definitely sympathize.
What a homie. Totally not a realism painter. More of an airy painter and having a drink while painting is a habit. Very much appreciate the painting a get the desire to blend at bad times too much!!
First let me say I'm an award winning, professional artist. I was declared a professional when I was 14 years old. The reason for this was the local art league wanted to keep me out of amateur competitions. They didn't appreciate me winning all of them. My suggestions to you would be dump the irritating music. Talk people through the process you are doing. Know what you are trying to explain before you explain it. I have only seen you use one brush, a very small one. Try painting not drawing with paint. The object to realism is not to duplicate a photograph but greatly improve on it. I know I sound harsh but I really think you should consider what I have said.
Eh, it's only harsh if I let it be harsh. I certainly don't mind the tips. It's funny you mentioned the brush, I literally am loading a new video right now where I talk about branching out and going bigger with brushes 😅. There's a lot I've got to learn and improve on across the board...painting, video editing, etc. Either way, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it :).
I'm literally speechless. That is so incredibly kind of you to say... All of those individuals are such wonderful and incredible artists, I can't even fathom being on the same playing field as them. But your words inspire to keep going and keep working hard @@echomarket3125
Thanks so much! I can't find the comment where you asked if I grew up on a ranch... but I live on one now. I grew up riding and training horses, but living on a ranch now is really what inspires western paintings like this one :) @@echomarket3125
