Let's Finish This GOUACHE SKETCHBOOK
Hang out with me as I finish this gouache sketchbook! It's my first time filming in this location, so I do apologize that some of the video footage is blurry. I know now for next time, but if it's cumbersome to watch, I do apologize. Hope you enjoy it! Next up is a sketchbook tour!

Bonsoir a🎉,magnifique peinture, le cavalier et sont cheval,c est adorable ! 😀😀❤❤❤🇲🇫
ahh merci beaucoup! 😀
Ashley, You inspired me, I'll be trying gouache for the first time. I have my reference selected, complete with a storyline, yes every painting must tell or inspire a story.... I am so excited for the sketchbook tour, you have created magic!!
@@bergerhomes yay!!! How exciting! It’s so fun trying new art materials. I truly hope you love it!
I am 26.5 years old now. I wanna save up some money and do some self learning for one year before I decide whether art school might be for me. So I searched "starting art school at 30" and got what I wanted to know. Thanks for sharing your story!
@@DenzilPeters that’s wonderful!! So glad it resonated with you. Best of luck in your art journey! ☺️
Magnifiques peintures ! 😊😊❤❤😃🇲🇫
Merci Josiane! 🥰
👋Hi Ashley, wonderful ! Looking forward to seeing the paintings in your sketchbook, the ones you showed here were already awesome. Loved the whale and the "path in the forest", and I'm quite sure I'll like the others, also. - Have a great weekend💖
thank you! and so glad to hear you liked them!
@@ashleytoltonart You're welcome, Ashley, yes 💐
It's like the algo knew to match me to your intro. Fitting.
@@random.oddities love it!! 🙌🏼☺️
The picture you are painting is really good, I would say it is excellent!
thanks!
@@ashleytoltonart I used to paint as well and after selling my paintings I was devastated. I loved my paintings so much and never wanted to sale them but I was forced to do so because my work was reserved and paid in advance (contract). After that I never painted any picture again.
Why hasn’t she undergone any cosmetic procedures to achieve the “new normal” look? She could consider lip fillers, lash extensions, hair enhancements, and breast augmentation. Botox might also help prevent wrinkles and maintain youthful skin. Additionally, facial and body tattoos could add a unique touch to her appearance in videos. As a bonus, she could show us more skin as a unique presentation of her art.
definitely not the right channel for you to follow 😂
@@ashleytoltonart lol, everyone got hart from her except me.
Good for you. The biggest lesson that was impressed on me by an art mentor when I first started was, "don't accept critic from those you don't respect and who aren't qualified." I've saved myself a ton of grief by listening to those words from a very early stage. Best of luck with what's to come.
Thank you! And that's my favorite piece of advice!! I forget it sometimes :D, but it's wonderful nevertheless.
keep progressing.
@@alirazalael8414 thanks!
I have developed my own definition of 'Style', and that is, the processes an artist goes through learning to create their art in a manner that is intuitive to them specifically. Subjects, palettes, processes, shortcuts, imaginative innovation, and passion. It's different to everyone, and it's something we find as we practice and learn. We have to get the mistakes out of the way. One day, we wake up and discover, oh my goodness, I have a style. And yes, as a retired horse trainer, that's my go to subject as well because of this deep love I was born with for this animal. Good for you!!!
I think I'm in the middle of it all, but I definitely think you're right! After years of practice and experimenting, one day, it just kind of clicks :). Thanks for watching and happy to have another horse trainer in the mix!
Omg i just got an epiphany watching your video, when you said its so great to have someone who believes in you….just realized i have been struggling with self confidence, Art style etc because i dont have anyone who truly and honestly believes in me…..i need to count on myself only and move on. Hope this eye opener gets me out of my artist block.
I'm sorry to hear that, but I am so glad that this video could help! I've been there before and I know what it feels like. Learning to be there for yourself is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. Thanks for watching and commenting! Best of luck and I believe in you!!
@@ashleytoltonart love your videos ! Looking forward to seeing more from you the Equine Artist 😉 i believe in you too! Much love from Canada 🇨🇦

Just what I needed to hear- thank you so much! Love your channel! Congratulations on the rebranding!
That makes me so happy!! And that's exactly why i made this video, hoping that my struggles could help someone else. Thanks for being a part of the channel! 🥰
If someone tells you that, ask them... "Do YOU have anything in a museum? Have you sold anything you've made yourself?" Sometimes people hold you back because they don't want you to succeed ahead of them... Even family. Surround yourself with people that will encourage you and motivate you.
Exactly! 100% agree!!
YOU WOULD MAKE MARK PROUD! VERY INSPIRATIONAL!

ahhh thank you so so much! That's so kind of you <3
👋Hi Ashley, wonderful video! You're having a long day, but, as far as I'm able to judge that, mostly filled with things you love and like to do; am not talking about doing dishes or other housework. I love it when people start with a coffee in the morning 🙂 Gorgeous area you're living in, the last seconds of the video showing a very nice landscape and sky, worth being painted. - I hope your husband did survive being on camera briefly🙃Thank you for showing us around, enjoy the warm days, and have a wonderful week💖
Haha thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! Definitely long days, but they’re wonderful ☺️
Bonsoir Ashley,on cuisine? Très beau paysage, et bonne balade à cheval!😊😊❤❤👍👏🇲🇫

Agreed. I love cowboys. Bought a cowboy coloring book. I have a Bonanza coloring book from my childhood. I miss those shows.
Love it!! Cowboys are the absolute coolest!
How much for a cow boy painting those are amazing by the way also keep the hard work up and never let anyone take you down they are just jealous you are amazing

thank you so much!! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed them!! 🥰
nice video, you are doing great.
thank you!
I would wanna paint you. You're really pretty.
Hi awesome paintings! Could you share the name of the authors you got the portrait from? I really want to explore anatomy and portraiture as well 😊 thank you and awesome work from you ❤
Hi there! The cowboys are all originally done by Mark Maggiori. I don't know about the rest however. Good luck in your portraiture endeavors as well! :)
@@ashleytoltonart thank you for sharing. Best of luck for both of us 🤗
@@NerimesCookie half the intro is me giving credit to the original artists. Thanks though
What size canvas do you find yourself using the most often?
Hmmm... it varies quite a bit. These one day studies are 8x10" or 9x12". My full oil paintings tend to be more in the 24"-36" range. Hope this helps! :)
👋Awesome paintings, Ashley, I love them ! Thanks for presenting them to us. Have a happy weekend❤
thank you! Glad you enjoyed them!
@@ashleytoltonart You are welcome, Ashley
Super beau,j adore ! 😀😀❤❤🇨🇵
merci 🙏🥰
This made me so happy! I just completed a similar challenge, doing 6 First American girls whose photos I took at a Pow Wow several years ago. I was always too intimidated to do them, but decided it was time! Like you, it was a bit overwhelming, but I'm so glad I did it. Aren't these great learning experiences and confidence builders? I use color pencil so my work takes quite a bit longer, but I so envy painters that can capture such beauty so very quickly! Nice work, and congrats on doing such a nice job~
Yay!! Go team conquering challenges!! I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I get to learn. Color pencil amazes me, so good on you, because that is far from an easy medium! 🙌🏼☺️
Lovely
thank you!
Fabulous painting Ashley. Thanks.
thank you so much!!
ah look another fellow Ashley yayy!! (my name too btw), anyways I just wanted to as a fellow artist myself, I find your lists to be very great!! I was on the fence on being an Etsy seller, but your pov was really real! Also the education was aswell! I have a friend who took an adobe class (like all the adobe prog) and it sincerely not only helped her business and career plans, but also expanded her as an artist, so that was really great advice!! - much love, asher xoxo
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed and happy to meet another Ashley!
Wow! I love westernart, Ashley❤️
Thanks! ☺️ so glad you enjoy it!
I went to art school and I say it's not worth the resources unless you're going into commercial art. If you're just doing it to be a professional artist that gets into galleries then it might be worth the money to get the fine arts degree. But nowadays there's ways you can network especially online and save yourself the money and hassle
I agree with you! Thank you so much or sharing your experiences ☺️
@@ashleytoltonart Forget what what I said about commercial art. I took visual communications for that field and it was way too expensive. If one must go to art school then go for the fine arts degree and hands on experience. Btw your art is beautiful
@@TurnThePage-cp5ce Thank you so much!! And thanks for sharing :)
I couldn't help but notice you're not using them Mall stick but your arm pushing against your painting surface , thinking if it was a canvas you're painting on the pressure of your arm would distort the canvas tightness, which we all know it's not a good idea. Could I please ask what service are you using to paint on? Ty
Hi there! It is canvas and you are correct that I rarely use a mahl stick. I’m not putting much pressure on the canvas so I’m not really worried about distortion ☺️
beautiful.
Thank you!
Love these vlogs Ashley! Keep up the good work! As someone that has purchased your art from you, I appreciate you. 🙏🏾🎨
