Hy ashley love your content! I wanted to suggest that adjusting the camera focus to be more on the canvas while you're working could enhance the viewing experience. It would be amazing to see more details of your creative process.thank u
Yeah, absolutely! I do really apologize that it wasn't in focus, but in the future I will double check to make sure you can see everything clearly :)
Ashley what a beautiful piece
Thank you so much!
Have you sketched drawn or painted any vampires like in a sketchbook maybe?
I haven't, but it would be a cool subject to explore one day!
Wonderful , Ashilleiy !
Awsome vid .really helpful
Wonderful! So glad you found it helpful!
May I ask where you got the geometric shapes for the still life? I've looked around but the objects I've found are very small.
These are photos that I'm working off of :). Sometimes you can find good objects on art stores online.
Very cool!
thank you so much!
my preference is for books, art books are very special to me
they are so special, aren't they :)
Amazing. I love it!
thank you so much!
Awesome! 🤓👍
What happened to "1.1"?
It should be there in the playlist :)
😃😃❤❤❤🇲🇫
I commend you on your goal of 100 commissions for the year. You will benefit greatly from that. I had to put my daughter through college and did so with commissioned work. For 6 years, I was a slave to commissions. The obvious benefit was the financial stability, but more important than that was the practice of working consistently. I see many artists state they are waiting for inspiration, and unfortunately the habit of not working develops during that wait. Commissioned work removes that because you work without that constraint. I think that was the biggest lesson I learned, and that is that commissioned work is a job, just like any other, and you go in and do your best every day. The last benefit is that with constant and consistent 'work'(painting or pencil), you work out issues and find the most effective manner to create. You find better ways, and personal improvement goes through the roof. I think your goals this year are perfect, and I have no doubt you will reach them and really advance your career. How exciting!
Thank you! I agree with you whole heartedly! Happy New Year!
Wow
Woooowww😮😮😮😮😮😮😅
thank you!!
New sub here. My granddaughter has an amazing drive and talent for art and I find myself watching and learning about artists so I can share that info with her. I'm hoping she pursues her talents and this video will be shared with her. Thank you for the example you shared of an artist's life.
@@northsongs Oh yay! How fun! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the video and welcome to my channel ☺️.
😊❤❤❤❤
HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE VIEWS?
@@rambocroc9573 well thank you! ☺️ I really appreciate that!
Painting the same subject/painting more than once can have huge learning benefits, especially if you can have a day or two in between painting them.
so true!
It also helps to have more than one (2-3) painting going at a time, in different states, different sizes and different subjects. It is amazing how each of them will solve a problem in one of the other paintings.
I completely agree!! 😄🙌
I very much enjoy your videos. Makes me wanna get back to working on my own channel. Heres to a good year and many more 🥂
You should!!😃 And I'm so glad you're enjoying them. That means a lot to hear! Happy New Years!

Piękny! Jaka jest gramatura tego papieru bo mój się marszczy😢
Thank you! This is oil painting paper by Strathmore :)
Bonsoir Ashley, tres beau cava et son cheval, vous êtes une grande artiste ! 😃❤❤🇨🇵
merci!!
I was about three years into my art journey when I convinced myself that if I didn't create something 'large' I wasn't going to be considered a serious artist. So, 22x24, with color pencils, all paper covered. Yeah, 4 months later (up to 10 hrs a day, every day), I finished. It kinda became my signature piece, and it did put me on the map, but I swear I lost my sanity there for a while. Now when that voice in my head says 'Go big or go home", I just feed her chocolate until she shuts up. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Never anything wrong with working big pieces ☺
Bonsoir Ashley, oh la tecdu cheval est superbe ,la couleur marron chocokat decsa robe, est magnifique, jcadore les chevaux et je vous adore aussi, vous peignez de belles choses,je vouscsouhaite un joyeux Noël ! 😀😀❤❤🇨🇵
Merci beaucoup pour vous ces gentils mots! Joyeux Noël à vous aussi ! Et merci de toujours regarder!
please do a monochrome painting when you have time ! thanks
😀😀❤❤🇨🇵
Being a pencil artist, my art tends to be tighter and more realistic, and I see a lot of artists that work in sections, bringing them to almost full completion. I tend to lose my way in doing that. I've tried to work the entire canvas, and tend to get overwhelmed doing that. So, after following a lot of oil painters, I now tend to put down quite a bit of under 'painting' on highly detailed images. This gets the 'map' of the work down in my brain. Then I will work in sections usually starting with the least complicated and working to the most complicated. I will have several sections going at a time, and will bounce around between them as the complexity increases. By the time I get to the truly complicated sections, I've got a pretty good 'groove' or feel for the piece, and it helps me get through all the really hard stuff. I've also have my eyes really trained in by this point so I can see all the variations in color and values. Like you, the last thing I do is to work edges and develop the shadows/values fully. The more I do, the more I find myself thinking, 'This should be easier by now', yet it isn't. I guess that is why I keep experimenting on how I process through my work. Very good video, thanks!
@@tinawhite8835 yeah, pencil artists to some extent probably defy many of the painting rules, but I love that you’ve tried and tested a few different methods and found something that works for you!

It was actually a cool surprise to get to redo a painting. Which one do you like more? The first or second attempt?
I can't tell you how often I sit at my easel, eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner, staring at my work in progress, trying to figure things out!
@@tinawhite8835It’s the best! I tend to solve all my greatest problems that way 🥰
I’m practising my sketching to improve my art. Love your videos, learning a lot, especially love seeing your beautiful horses and everyday life and routine. My Dad was an awesome horse trainer and I miss being around them. Awesome animals and you paint them wonderfully! 🌸 Marg
Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying my videos! Sketching is so important and I’m right there with you, practicing as much as I can ☺️.
Looks oddly similar to Mark Maggiori’s “Tuah Tah”. I wouldn’t have noticed except for the fact I am practicing those exact clouds.
@@bullpits1 oh nice! Mark Maggiori is an absolute legend and love all his work! This was off a photo reference from Montana, USA, but I definitely took some inspiration and added a bit of his style into the clouds ☺️.
These are notes to myself. I’m curious, do you have any plans to level up your own art? What are they? ☺️
