Omg what!?!? The Super Tucano and now the Intruder in a few days!? These are two of my favorite planes of all time... im gonna have to take some time off work when these are finished. We all know its gonna be 5 years before RAzbam finishes their Tucano lol
About 40 years ago, I flew the A-6 for the Marines. I certainly don't remember everything about it, but there are a few things I do know: The guy in the right seat is the B/N (Bomadier/Navigator) and he works all the Radar and Weapons systems. The B/N's seat is about 6 inches lower and 6 inches back from the pilot seat, to make it easer for the pilot to see over him. The big circular screen in front of the B/N's seat is the main radar display for the A-6's ground radar. The big 4ectangular green display right in front of the pilot is the VDI - it's a virtual display that provides a combination of the radar data, an artificial horizon, and regular flight data. For something designed in the 60s, it was really quite remarkable. Right under the VDI is a repeater display, which repeats the B/N's display so the pilot can see it. I loved flying the A-6.
Thanks to Cap for finding these this weekend. I hope someone can help CorsairCat get the flight model and landing software sorted. Happy to see it, will fly it later . Appreciate these free mods and don’t expect them to be fully up to the full standard, great eye candy and great fun
I had the same problem flying it when I tried it out. Feels real top heavy. I also tried landing on Carrier a few time but kept blowing up as soon as I hit the deck.. Great start on the A-6E . Props to the creator.. Thanks cap for the review...
I was an A-6 plane captain. Never once saw or heard of mounting a gun pod. I have heard of A-6s armed with AIM-9s.. With 9L being the most advanced likely carried. They would occasionally use Intruders to fill gaps in CAP coverage back in the cold war days. Most impressive thing an A-6s did was carry bombs. Big bombs. You knew we meant business when the forward portions of the main gear doors were removed in order to accommodate full MERs of Mk-82s.

I believe that development was halted because the rumor is Heatblur is working on the A-6 as a full mod, not just an AI add-on, and ED wasn't happy to see a competing community mod coming along. At least that's what I heard on a modding discord, so I can't verify, but it'd be a good reason to drop it on a project and move on to something that's likely to stay community level.
That is a real shame, but if he wishes the project to be taken over by others, he should also post the 3dsmax files (in particular the model for the cockpit).
The guy behind this is a genius :) This is the first of me seeing an external freaking SFM implementation... Bravo :) He forgot though that there are people out there who too know C++ ;)
Honestly, I thought I was going to see BET packed up as an "EFM" next, but who would have thought some joker would actually go out of his way to implement SFM externally... For what? So that Cap would say that "it has EFM"? Just how low are modders going to stoop for a little bit of attention?

Never been around a regular A-6, but the EA-6B was the loudest jet I've ever been around, louder than the tomcat or the super hornet. It would rattle your insides it was so loud.
It may be buggy, but wow for free Mod, then this it's pretty good looking and I hope that the Devs continue working on it. As the A-6 Intruder is such and iconic aircraft.
If you are using a Hotas joystick. Then add curve of 25 to the axis for both pitch and role. Then dumb down rudder, with a 25 for curve an lower the rudder curve height down or Y saturation, down to 53. To allow for more rubber control coming out to turns and lots of rudder to compensate the roll on landing and you'll be landing this MOD like a pro in no time!!! For far too long DCS has been missing the A6 intruder and now we given one. Thumbs up to the Deveopers.
hello Cap, thanks for the review, there is a black square in my cockpit view in front, on the windshield. it has a vhf frequency. i reainstalled several times but i cant remove it, there is something to do?
If this A-6 is supposed to have no further developments, maybe some people would take it under their wing and finish it up if the dev gives permission?
Neat! Neato. Let's go up north and bomb the Dragons jaw bridge. I'm so glad I managed to get a decent graphics card now last december. Thought about waiting a bit. Glad I didn't, because if I had waited I probablly couldn't get into DCS still. As graphics cards are so hard to get hold of. So many nice mods. And the game it self is so awesome.

However, it does make an impressive AI mod and will in AI form launch and land on a carrier. Makes another good aircraft to escort in close formation as there wasn't an A6 before. Pretty sure the weapons operator has no flight controls. I believe the seat was also in a different position perhaps lower and more backwards than the pilots.
Hi Cap, I've tested the wheelbarrow trick and it seems the harrier is the best plane for the job? You can get the nose down while the nozzles give the lift I tried it but I'm not good enough to perform such witchcraft.
To take off is strange.... you must to keep S pressed to steering the wheels. To "could and dark" it's easy, request oustide power, switch on L and R engine and start keep pressing cranck buttons, after click on throttle to let the IDLE position and so could be controled by joystick throttle... keep S pressed to control the wheels using rudder... but crashes DCS during plane taxi. It's so sad that controls of plane are so instable ... regards, Cap!
Yesterday I thought: Should I just punch in "RAZBAM left the chat."? Today I could do something similar with Heatblur (after watching, it'd probably be more like... Heatblur: "Imma gonna end this whole man's career!"). But actually, I think both of them will actually enter the chat and at some time shell out massively superior modules that make these mods absolutely obsolete which bring me to the point to wonder, why even start such projects? I mean, OK, many people see RAZBAM as the dudes who need ages to finish things up, but I think in the last few months they have improved significantly with their Harrier. But Heatblur is nothing to have any doubts about. Anyone building a mod for a plane that is on an active roadmap with a 3rd party already literally should know his work will become very uninteresting at some point. But I guess they just decide to get their fave in and just do it for themselves and let others enjoy it as well, maybe they even try to get into the real projects by doing that (kinda like "hey, look at what I've done in just 2 months, don't you guys need someone like me to help finish up your product?"). And I appreciate that. I'd just guess it'd be better to get good mods for aircraft that aren't on the modules roadmaps already. Nevertheless, anything coming to DCS helps :) 13:01 Doubleyouwooooord!

Some of these mods, though well intended, should not come out until they are up to par with DCS planes. The Tucano looks great on the outside. However, feels like X-plane 10 on the inside.
It's not showing up in my DCS list of aircraft. I extracted the master folder, into user/saved games/mods, and nothing happened. Someone have an idea why?

One lonely, battered and sinking carrier tried and successfully beached itself next to your airbase. The damage control party try to contain the damage and prevent the reactors and/or the nuclear weapons from going KABOOM! The blast will surely evaporate your precious collection of model aircraft and your famous Renault Clio, along with other less significant things like wife & children, besties, neighbors, co-workers etc… But wait… Intelligence reports a huge wave of sea skimming enemy aircraft try to finish off the defenseless carrier!! Scramble to defend the toothless carrier from a finishing blow, stay at least 10nm away from the Carrier while intercepting, acquire target and fire sequentially. I think heatblur f14’s EFM, feels exactly like a PFM, considering ED wouldn’t separate and downgrade to make a new system just to show their ‘uniqueness’ of their products( they aren’t that resourceful’), but this a6 mod also a EFM? could be just a SFM Okay, yep it’s feels like a SFM
This is indeed an SFM implementation by the author of the mod put inside a .dll, technically making it an EFM :) There is a source code for the flight model itself, so anyone can make sure.
So I did this then it makes my game go shit itself, it says following is not authorized a6 intruder and my game just freezes the whole pc, So any idea why it would be saying this ?

"Mk 4 Mod 0 While the system was tested and certified for use on the A-4, the A-6, the A-7, the F-4, and the OV-10, it only saw extended use on the A-4, the F-4, and the OV-10." It's not "competing". It has externally implemented SFM (just take a look into the source code).

I think heatblur f14’s EFM, feels exactly like a PFM, considering ED wouldn’t separate and downgrade to make a new system just to show their ‘uniqueness’ of their products( they aren’t that resourceful’), but this a6 mod also a EFM? could be just a SFM

Efm stands for external flight model it could be very good or very but but it will be a efm if it is not made by ed
This is indeed an SFM implementation by the author of the mod put inside a .dll, technically making it an EFM :) There is a source code for the flight model itself, so anyone can make sure.

Don’t remember gun pods on any of the kits. Believe it relied on a couple of AA missiles....but I’ll be happy with a gun in a game

@@IronPhysik I found that the Mk.4 gunpods were certified for use on the A-6, but they never saw extended use.
