Definitely the bike Suzuki should have brought out before the 800 DE. Agreed, it should be a good seller, especially with the free heated grips that Suzuki are offering this winter. I wonder if Honda will reciprocate with a tubeless, 19" front wheel version of the Transalp?
It will perhaps outsell DE any way because most of riders ride on pavement roads. Plus the fact that it comes with 19” front and tubeless tires. Lower price lower seat and lower weight.
If they added cruise control, it would have been a hot seller. Probably outsold Transalp, bmw f800 /900 and tge ktm 790 /890. But they always get greedy.
I went to the NEC in view of buying a green one, and it left me cold, though the blue has a silver subframe, not white, as reported in some comments...it would have to be that one for me(1050 DE in yellow is around £10k at present, that might be worth the few hundred quid more,C/C and a center stand?).
@@williamrae9954 Pretty much sums up my feelings - just didn't get any fizz from it. I'm sure it's a great bike, but lacks emotion from my perspective.
Great vid, just wish it had cruise as an option, I'll get a test ride next month hopefully. I didn't like the DE, great engine but it felt weird to ride, big spindly 21" tubed spoked front wheel put me right off anyway.
I was disappointed by my Transalp test ride a week or so back, rock hard seat, and the missus hated the pillion position. Great engine and sound tho. I'm very interested in having a ride on this Vstrom.
I would prefer this over the DE model, but the matte paint is a no for me. Here in the U.S. the DE is $1000 more, but my local dealer has one marked down and I can get it for $1000 less than this model. I can get aftermarket cruise for $300.

No, its not that straight forwards...the CF moto 800MT Explore has more tech and a 3 box set included....the Suzie will probably be more reliable, maybe??? thanks for watching
Would you recommend the 800 RE for a 1st gen DL650 owner wanting to update to a bike with all the modern safety features like ABS and traction control?
With Ducati's and some BM's now touching 30k a sub 10k bike is indeed cheap!... You can have a GSX-800s, V strom 800DE and a Transalp for the price of a Ducati Pike pike....the world has gone mad......thanks for watching
TLB wow, you are a giant but look reasonably comfortable on the RE. Owning the 8S, this would be a very good travelling companion & use the 8S for domestic duties 👌 Edit: am I the only one that uses the rear brake as a corner settling mechanism? Who uses just the rear brake to come to a complete stop when 75% of the stopping power is in the front wet or dry?🤔
I must have tested a different bike then ,,,,I found the vibes right through the rev range...it was a very stable and good handling bike but there's no way I could live with the vibes...

Funny how people differ as I tested the transalp and the 800de back to back and the 800de I bought now has 4,000 miles on it. The Honda was a good bike but a bit too "honda" for my taste.

@@theloftybiker3090can i know what is different with the TA ? Comparing it with the 800RE ? Thanks ! The performance on how it rolls around when you twist the throttle ?

For you lofty types, there's a flat seat available from Hessler, not cheap at €500...also,he has plenty offroad parts too...he's got the DE down to 226kg with 14kg of fuel on board (20litres). Getting this machine down to 190kg dry is achievable! Looking to replace the Tracer7 with one,i never gelled with the 900,the T7 is perfect for Scotland, just needs longer legs for touring abroad!
I appreciate the narrative as you go for the younger riders. Getting them through the first few years unbroken is most of the battle.
