2005-2008: Remade Larry List for the Noguchi Foundation
---- 10 new Noguchi sets of chessmen with Noguchi chess tables made (sold at that time for $25,000 per set, now auctioning for much more).
2023: New edition remade by Larry List for the Noguchi Foundation
---- Open-ended production, Noguchi chessmen with chessboard in place of chess table (minimum allowable price $590/set, expected to increase in subsequent years)

This looks great. Much better after hearing the explanations for the designs and pointing out the defining features. Gotta love that King's prominent manhood member. 🙂 The price is beyond my reach, but I could see buying a $100 clone made from much heavier Pyrex or anodized stainless steel or aluminum. I think the lightness of the pieces in this set would make it feel much cheaper than it is, and detract from the playing experience. (And welcome back!)
Thanks Johnny! Yeah, this is really a serious collector's item -- probably won't appeal to most chess players, but to a lover of Noguchi and these "20th century things" it's sort of a must-have. Great to have your feedback and to know you're still tuning in when I do post something.
I know -- you have to love the king's royal prominence...it makes the set even more especially special

Looking very interesting. But it;s more a collectors item than a practical set.
Yeah, definitely a collector's "work of art" set. On the other hand, playing with them would be an interesting experience. Too disorienting? Or mind expanding? We'll have to try it...
