    One of my fond memories was the time Noguchi visited our department back in grad school. Nice to cross paths with a brilliant artist.

      What was he like? An lessons he shared that you walked away with to this day and utilize in your own art?

      @@_mixedsignals Well, Noguchi wasn't really there as a teacher. For the most part, we simply met him. My memory of him was as a sincere, quiet, and admirable man. I'm sorry to not have a more inspiring answer. In any case, many of us were painters, not sculptors. The fact that I admire him suggests that there is an impact, because there are so few modern day artists that I can fairly say deserve this respect, at least in my mind. For example, I did some screen printing (on canvases) for Warhol, and I have never actually held him in high regard as an artist.

    The smallest one is now roughly $200 USD....I'm sure Mr. Noguchi would be saddened to see the hike up in prices of what he hoped to be affordable artworks for everyone.

      It's my love-hate relationship with Vitra. Love because they keep it alive and honor the original designs. Hate because it's dentist-only prices.

      What price would please you? Just wondering

      @@bbbildhuu I bought an 1N in Japan and it was 7500yen about 15 years. It’s now over 40,000yen.

    • @bbbildhuu

      @wholewheaties i think the price hike is normal. If people want his style they can buy replicas for cheap. If you want to support the noguchi family and like authenticity you can pay the high price. Its simple

    • @wholewheaties
      @wholewheaties 6 місяців тому +2

      @@bbbildhuu Noguchi doesn’t have a family, and his sole half nephew is not involved. Perhaps you mean support his museum? Vitra and Herman Miller mark up the prices and take most of the profit, so what you are suggesting is far off from reality. Also, a 400% increase in pricing in 15 years is not normal. If you’re going comment or debate in the least then have some common sense.
