Well, the only thing stopping it from happening is nobody has done it yet. I am literally smoking weed I bought at a store in Michigan legally right now.

Love the videos bro! This had me thinking about the often overlooked MOVE Group incident in Philadelphia. The Police dropped a bomb out of a helicopter and deliberately burned down a city block. This was 1972! EDIT it was 1985!
First I’ve ever heard of the story glad you covered it! That was the way this went down “civil forfeiture“ that happens all too often in the United States! Unfamiliar mostly with cops taking the money but not writing a ticket or giving you any option to get the money back! The biggest story I know of this is the marine vet, was traveling from Texas to California with 80 grand got pulled over because he supposedly was telling a semi truck, everything was all good I was asking questions like do you have any guns drugs etc. he said no and he goes you’re getting large sums of money he said yes and that’s where it went to shit! They took his money prior to that they told him it’s because there’s a lot of drug traffickers and money laundering or some shit he ultimately ended up getting his money back also it wasn’t the police that took his money they confiscated temporarily and contacted the DEA because you know they get a cut
generally the police departments get to keep everything they seize through "asset forfeiture". that's why they like to do it so much. it's literally legal robbery.
I faintly remember it but like anything else the government does it quickly disappears from the public eye. I like the peace you did on the man who flew his plane into the IRS building that story literally disappeared the day after it happened, I asked people the day after it happened about it and they told me they never heard of it. I love the line at the end, here is a pound of My Flesh.

governments dont give you freedom, they take it away, tax it, regulate it, monetize it. Sure we need rules, yada yada, but humans governing other humans doesn't work. Goverments are accountable to no one, do what they like, justify their actions and are funded by the very people the subjugate. I sure as shit hope theres intelligent life out there somewhere. Its funny how the constitution was originally drafted to protect the people from the government and now its just used to trick people into thinking its real. In Western Washington, USA, We had the Love Israel family. Hippies living on a commune in the country. They grew garlic and other vegetables, ran an organic restaurant in town, and hosted a summer Garlic Festival once a year on the farm. It was open to the community, well attended, activities, vendor booths and food prepared around garlic (even garlic ice cream!). That is until a group of Karen's complained about 2 family members swimming naked in the pond during the event. Oh my! Nudity! And the smell of marijuana wafting in the breeze. County officials eventually shut down the festival, then the restaurant, then the family farm, running them all off to Eastern Washington where now aged 70s-90's, they live in love with today. Sad end to wonderful, harmless hippies of the 60's.
This was by where I grew up, my birth mom's mom was there, the first time I had ever heard about a government executed slaughter of civilians was Rainbow Farms, good on you for covering it
Honestly, that's not how any libertarian feels. We like to do our part. So we make donations to proper, local organizations and get our receipts for it. Like, I make 50k a year in California and donate about 10k throughout the year at the teenage drop-in center that I volunteer at. Then here comes tax season and bang. They owe me.... It's a two way street.
I grew up in Michigan in the '90s and I never heard of this before. Thanks for sharing. Recreational cannabis is a multi-billion dollar industry there now.
Anyone defending drug laws for any reason should take a step back and think about what you're defending. Cannabis laws literally set up for essentially situations like this. These days in most states they would get a slap on the wrist not 20 years in prison. As far as I'm concerned any aggressive enforcement of growers of pot is unethical to the extreme. If you want to go after someone go after the meth labs and the fentanyl dealers.
That would only apply in a world where logic had anything to do with drug policy. Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid we should ever live in world where "Will this law make everything much worse?" takes precedence over "Will this pander to the right-wing press?". I never cease to be impressed with the sheer stupidity here in the UK of having a government appointed Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs whose advice gets comprehensively ignored the moment it conflicts with the views of a bunch of Daily Mail reading, Little Englanders who wouldn't know the difference between THC and TCP.
@@Thorium_ A perfectly valid point of view. I'm not over keen on the smell and I've been smoking the stuff for north of four decades. In the "prefer the smell of horse shit" category I have a lot of air-fresheners, body-sprays and the like that are supposed to smell "fresh". I don't know what the 'fresh' chemical is or what it smells like to other people but to me it smells of anaerobically decomposing melons and it makes me want to vomit. I also hate melons. Come to think of it I'm not sure horse-shit smells that bad anyway. It's more of an earthy 'country' smell to me. Pig shit on the other hand...
@@Thorium_ I mean it literally when I say some fragrances make me want to vomit. I've been known to leave pubs because people have been over generous with the under arms and there's a street in my home town I avoid because the 'All-Things-Stinky' shop reeks like a charnel house in august to my hooter. I have to wonder why a legalise weed stall smelled of weed. It can't have been that illegal. I know that there are some places, like the UK, where Satan's Spinach is illegal more in principle than in practice but even so. I could go for a midnight walk with doggo and a spliff and nobody, including the cops, would give shit. Smoke weed outside a school* or at a family fair and the wallopers would be down on me like a tonne (2,204.6lb for those in the colonies) of bricks. *I know an idiot who did that while waiting for his offspring and thought he was hard done by when he got nicked. 🙃
@@Thorium_ I wonder if it would be fair to speculate that a lot (but not all) of the most vocal advocates for "the ganj" are the worst possible adverts for it and have burned out the parts of their brain responsible for common sense with excessive quantities of THC. I hate stoners 😂
This reminds me of my brother so much. He and his boyfriend grow their own weed, has firearms (legally), and currently has some 6 massive aquariums in their house breeding different types of fish. Also we live in Illinois; weed is legal, I believe you can grow your own, but only so much and cannot be sold.
Actually on your 4473 if you are a user of any illegal drug you're not allowed to own firearms. They acknowledge states have decriminalized marijuana however it is still illegal under federal statue.
Any time I hear how the laws for these drugs are it just makes me wonder the point of it all is. You can grow the drugs but only if you grow a certain amount and don't dare use those drugs, that's illegal.
The past of one of them and how they got caught aside, these two guys seem like very genuine good people. It's really a shame what happened to them, with the government once again being a pain in the ass as it always is.
"Aside from the bad things they did they were good people." I mean, yeah, but you could also describe serial killers like that. I'm going to say if you pull a gun on your employer and try to shoot down a press helicopter (or even shoot down a police helicopter, not like it's much of an improvement), and attempt to shoot police officers, you are a bad person. You know, trying to shoot people bad. It's not really something you can balance out with charity work. This ignores the ethical issues I could raise about their activities in relation to the growing and promotion of drugs.
@@HALLish-jl5mo Except killers go through with it, serial killers constantly do many permanent bad actions, and them going to violence was a result of the government's overreach
That’s one of the most mind-numbingly stupid things I’ve heard. I’m guessing it’s one or two troll accounts saying that. Randy Weaver was not an r-word. @@ermias75ermis2 While Tom, as a violent felon, absolutely should not have had those guns, the police didn't know they existed until they raided the premises based on him not paying taxes, which wasn't true. Let's not pretend those guns were the issue here. The property was raided because the cops didn't want some local stoners holding festivals on their farm, and the feds decided to play ball. Recreational cannabis is legal in Michigan now, which makes this whole thing even more ridiculous and sad.

They took his money prior to that they told him it’s because there’s a lot of drug traffickers and money laundering or some shit he ultimately ended up getting his money back also it wasn’t the police that took his money they confiscated temporarily and contacted the DEA because you know they get a cut

In Western Washington, USA, We had the Love Israel family. Hippies living on a commune in the country. That is until a group of Karen's complained about 2 family members swimming naked in the pond during the event. Oh my! Nudity! And the smell of marijuana wafting in the breeze.
